I was a Master Instructor at the DoD's Weather Training Division, for eight years. I had a total of 33 years of aviation weather experience. I planned, designed, and wrote a 210 page manual on aviation meteorology, accepted for use by the Federal Aviation Administration, designed specifically to train flight dispatchers. It was called an "EWINS", or Enhanced Weather Information System. I watched this training...not bad, but it could be hugely improved.

This is a great video. Very informational. As a former Air Traffic Controller you are absolutely right about the controllers are there to ensure your safety and there to help. If someone isn’t comfortable with talking to ATC practice practice practice because nothing is scarier for a Controller and other pilots around when someone comes into an airspace that isn’t familiar with using the radio or just fails to make simple radio calls.

Route 2 and Route 3 info is incorrect. Route 2 should take less time and an increase in GS. Route 3 will take longer, with a decrease in GS. You are correct in bringing up the thought, that the airmass is moving, and that those High/Low Pressures may or may not be there, when you get there. Excellent info...refresher on av weather before my Instrument checkride in a few days.

Thank you. I do have a question. I am considering signing up for a Private Pilot ground school course and a local community college and then start my flight training in the Summer of 2017. Do recommend that students walk into flight training with the written completed and passed. Can you do a video on the pros and cons of doing this or perhaps provide any feedback? Thanks
@WalterAviationInc7 жыл бұрын
Great idea for a video, and until we make that video, our recommendation is to definitely get your written test passed as soon as possible. Not only will you have a working knowledge of the terms, components, and systems, but as you begin your actual flying your rate of learning will be much higher. We recommend this to all of our applicants.

Atmospheric gasses are not single molecules but usually pairs or triple molecules O2, N2 and H2O. Water vapor H-O-H weighs less than O-O or N-N but takes up as much space hence lower density.

Hello, may be late for a comment, but simply to say that thunderstorms are topped off by anvils *not* because they don't have any more moisture to condense, and *not* because the cloud gets sheared off by a jet steam (although the jet stream can enhance it), but because the updrafts reach the bottom of the stratosphere which is an extremely stable region. You see thunderstorm anvils in the tropics all the time, where there is never any jet stream.
