Totally agree about the Grip Ergs, had the Q5 Match SF Champion in my hand today and it was INSTANT LOVE! I tried it side by side with CZ Shadow 2, CZ SP 01 and Beretta and none came close to how good the Q5 SF felt. I have to have one for IPSC Production.

I tried one for the first time lately and really really liked it. I’ve shot a shadow 2 for a few years but I’m considering buying the Q5 match..like you say it just feels so good in the hand. Trigger isn’t as good as the CZ but I could soon sort that out.

I will be intetested to hear how you compare this to a CZ Shadow 2 Optic Ready when you have a chance to shoot/buy one side note I think it is silly that you have to buy the optic mount plate extra on an Optic Ready handgun

I have the polymer Q5 match and it's just amazing, every time I let someone shoot it (almost always not a Walther fan or unfamiliar) they walk away saying "damnit....... I really... REALL... need to get one of those" - and trust me, you can tell how much it pains some of these people to say it lol! I just couldn't ask for anything more in a high-end match-grade pistol like this. I do wish the SF was a bit cheaper, but some day I'll get able to justify trading in the poly 5" Q5 Match for the SF.

the first thing to do on a new gun,lock the slide back for 2 to 3 days,while working the slide periodically.This helps the recoil spring to settle in.

Me a Card carrying walther fan boy. Run the gambit love them all. Went to a range to rent one throw a few down range and buy my next walther, namely this one. Well 200 rounds later it had failed to feed Winchester fmj 20 times in the 200 rounds. Nice trigger (ok it's a walther hello) but it was only as accurate as a carry gun bc the plate kept torquing the rear adj sight. I'm pretty crushed but so loyal, I'll buy the first one that somebody shows me the gun I wished for. In the meantime maybe I can score a used pps.

Two things hot in that video, the Q5 match, and Kendra! Whooo wee she’s a shooter! Looks good doing it too! Well I have a Walther Creed, and although a budget minded very inexpensive gun, that gun is a performer! Super smooth super accurate and super feel good grip! I feel like I should give Walther some more money because of how good a deal I feel I got! If this Q5 is better than that which it sounds it is, I’ll be in heavenly ranges then!

@@GBGuns Thanks. Secret Santa'd myself and I pick mine up next week so haven't actually shot it hot yet, but the trigger on one of the 3 in the gun store was a bit gritty (of course I picked what I thought was the best of the 3). I have the PPQM2 Navy and LOVE its trigger. But you know how it is; the purchase is just the beginning of the pain, and the pain sometimes involves more purchases from Earl ;). Thanks for the heads-up to avoid softer ammo.

@GBGuns

I think it's about equal. Teya prefers the polymer, citing the steel frame as too heavy for extended shooting. I like the hand fit of the steel frame better (It's not just steel, it's also a different shape)

CZ is afraid to have us review so I can't speak to their triggers. My point is that pull weight is nearly irrelevant unless you have a problem with jerking the trigger. What's more important is predictability, reset, and tactile break and reset.

Thanks great review... Real guns are steel... Toy guns are plastic... always will be and alway will be dumpster divers! Steel guns the good old days. Being an old guy... issue pistol in my day 50 years ago was 1911. No matter revolvers ruled. Aluminum was considered pot metal... junk... not worth having. Savings weight was not a concern. My carry gun was a model 19 S&W 357 Mag. 6" in a shoulder harness as it simply felt and worked better than a model 27 large frame. The weight and recoil did not make one bit of difference to me or anyone else. Over the holidays I watched Once Upon a Time in the West... in the first scene they focused in on the weapons all steel and wood... real guns... though it was just a story fantasy... it was the reality for us shooters... Steel and Wood... big bullets... big recoil. With that gun I could offhand shoot 4" 25 yds groups all day... it took the head of many a large rattler... carrying it you were secure in your equipment... always worked. Finally someone is making a new steel pistol.

@@MoxJet629 Grant you are very correct and I agree with that,, the only problem is when people that haven't actually ever handled or shot the Firearms giving so-called reviews or comments, they have no need to comment on something they have never held or shot. The fact is that the Walther Q5 match steel frame is $1,500 in relation to other firearms in the same category, it fails in comparison. It is fact, not opinion that the Q5 match Sf is priced at what it is, is completely ridiculous. The only thing that is different on this gun then it's polymer frame twin is the actual frame, the trigger components the sights, 95 % of the slide, everything else are exactly the same for well over double the money. The price is what I was discussing and that is fact.
