In this video we take a look at the Walther Reign UXT in .25 caliber put out by Umarex. This German made bullpup puts out 40 fpe in a short, lightweight and ergonomic package. We test the gun from both the bench and out in the field under real world conditions. #umarex #airguns

Finally someone does a review with the .25 cal and chroni test. I have the same gun and it start shooting great at around 160 bar all the way down to like 140. Two complete mags with no problem. Great gun and great review. Thank you.

I agree, I have to wait for more pellets to show up but, so far too high isn't great, too low is great but, right in the middle there 2 mags+ it's about as accurate as any airgun could be.

Great detailed review as always and love that you hunt with every gun! I was going to do a review, but you did such a great job I thought I'd just add a few notes from owning the .25 Reign for half a year. 1. Moderator is attached by a machine pressed retaining ring... you can't heat it off. I had to cut mine off! 2. Moderator could have been great...weighs more than my DFL Ronin, but unfortunately.. NO BAFFLES and more of a barrel weight. 3. Take all 14 screws off remove stock and replace tiny(10lb) trigger reset spring with ink pen spring. You'll recognize it once you open it up. This will give you true 2 stage. My trigger breaks at 1.14 lbs. 3. This has an encapsulated hammer spring. It's not adjustable..just inconveniently removable if your willing to remove an additional 6 screws. 4. At 30 yards my Reign one holes. 25 JSB EXACT KINGS at 875fps before I chopped it. Props to Walther for putting a beefy. 584 inch diameter Carl Walther barrel on this. 5. Sweet spot is 150bar(2200 PSI AMERICAN). Regulated at 150bar, I get 30 shots at 820fps(chopped barrel) on 13cubic inch Ninja bottle. 6. No... you can't just pop a Ninja bottle and reg on without massive stock mods. 7. Mountain Sports is right... the Reign is a very ergonomic and rugged gun best for close in work. The excessively heavy hammer spring creates quite a concussive shot cycle that makes it hard to make longer shots... that being said, It makes for a good simulation powder burner trainer due to the kick.

I have the mark 1 version of this rifle and actually prefer it over the UXT since it has 1/2" UNF threads and a shrouded barrel. This makes it easy to change to the moderator of your choice to quiet things down. I have owned mine for almost two years and it has never let me down yet. Yes it does have a somewhat plastic feel to it but I like it since it is very robust, light, easy to clean and does not dent and scratch as some of the wood-stocked rifles do. I use a shoulder sling to carry it when out walking around on hunts for it frees up my hands for glassing around etc. Easily detachable and connects to the hole in the butt. This gun is very overlooked in the airgunning world.

Great review. I’m the other side of the pond and a great admirer of the shooting scene you have over there. I’ve got this rifle shooting 12ftlb and I can’t understand why it isn’t more popular. Yours is obviously an updated model as mine came without a moderator but is in most respects the same and I agree with all your conclusions. I’ve got an old Wildcat Mk1 .22 , that shoots 30ftlbs (but showing it’s age) and I’ve been looking for a replacement but hadn’t considered the Reign. Have you any thoughts on the likely shot count in .22 @ 30ftlbs. If I need more I tend to reach for the rimfire. Stay safe🇺🇸🇬🇧.

Another great honest review,if you have a big enough air tank having a regulator is not always necessary but in todays market this rifle needs a regulator,to make it more useable. Your getting Lowther Walther quality but theres to many options available with a better spec sheet (Air Venturi Avenger) ? At half the price so it can be done I think Umarex as missed a opportunity,the barrel action etc are quality but it needs adjustable Regulator in todays market. Also been better with a 1/2-20 unf threaded barrel so fitting a after market silencer or even a muzzle break.
@MountainSportAirguns
@MountainSportAirguns 3 жыл бұрын
The Avenger isn't a bullpup and is nowhere near the build quality of this.

@@MountainSportAirguns Gamo Urban is kinda semi Bullpup as BSA hammer forged barrel and BSA action,yeah it`s only available in .22 but it as same sweet spot as the Umarex,I used to shoot 3 mags starting 2500psi and refill at 1500psi,Urban costs $300. I also have a FX Streamline which isn`t a long rifle by any means,very easy to shoulder and move around in tight spacers. So for $300 more you can get a FX Dreamline classic or Brocock. Or you can get the Proper Walther Reign.

Excellent video. Awesome rifle at a great price. You stated that non regulated PCPs can produce strong power. Is this because you can easier put the air pressure into a smaller part of the overall shot string? Getting fewer shots but at higher speeds. Does this mean that if your willing to sacrifice shot count and overall consistency. That a non regulated rifle can produce more power than a regulated one. I saw a guy tune a rifle to the point that it only got 8 shots. But the 8 shots were very powerful. Any further information about this would be appreciated. God bless you brother. 👍
@MountainSportAirguns
@MountainSportAirguns 3 жыл бұрын
Usually adding a reg will lower power, with this small of a bottle in .25 caliber I see no reason for a reg. This isn't the best candidate for tuning as the adjustment really only allows for changing the spring rather than it's tension. Best example is most Big Bores don't use a reg as they simply use so much air per shot...a reg takes space and the plenum size can't keep up with the air consumption. Adding a reg will not always improve performance.

Hello, I see you have exp and good knowledge so please forgive me if this is wrong place to ask but for someone with a mid budget for a mid to middle/ higher end rifle what would you choose for dependability and simplicity meaning great reliability in a hunting rifle for food...from squirrels to hogs. I will need to stand up to dust and elements etc (within reason of course)...thats a lot to ask I know but what would you choose if you had to choose just one? thanks and best wishes!
@MountainSportAirguns
@MountainSportAirguns 3 жыл бұрын
Many factors to consider, especially how you would be filling the rifle with air? Larger calibers generally use more air, smaller caliber might be good for small game but not enough for larger. A .25 caliber would be a good decision, the Brocock brands are very nice and durable.
