This is a beautiful sight in rushden,theres lots of history round my home this is fantastic

Pretty town enit or at least it was would love to see pictures of the old cricket Pavillion and the old wooden bus shelter at the lightstrong along with Birches coach station

Ah Rushden, lovely Rushden. Well, at least when I was there as a kid in the 50's and early 60's. Still had a lot of tangible evidence of many years earlier. Stopped in during 1983 and noticed that although much of the old town was still there, it had been renovated. Not very welcoming to my eye. Acquired a beautiful book put together by the Rotarians with a pictorial history of Rushden or Risdeen or something like that as it was called a very long time ago. "Old Rushden" If the library has a copy it worth while to go check it out. My dad took me to London once and to get there we took the train from Rushden. We kids used to wait for a train to come in so we could stand on the pedestrian bridge and get lost in the smoke. (old) South End School had a giant coke pile next to Townsends garage used to heat the place. Bomb shelters behind the school. Finest boots and shoes on the planet made by true craftsman. There was a vacant field at the corner of Wymington Road and High Street South that had an open brook. That brook is the one that runs through High Park. It went through a tunnel under the school playground and Townsends, needless to say perhaps but boys will be boys and we were when it came to attempting to traverse the slimy, debris fouled hole. Always got a "soaker" knowing full well that when we got home "we wern't ahff (half) gunna git it" from Mum. 57 years in Canada now and very happy that I spent the first 12 of life in Rupert's Nutwood, well that's how I prefer to remember it anyway.

The street at 6'06 is Wellingborough road Church street and Skinner's hill on the right.location of the Lightstrung. And the Adult School.

they should not have closed the railwaay line from wellingborough to highamferres to rushden such a pathetic move, reopen the whole line [NOW]

I bet these people had some beautiful local accents.

The type of WW1 tank shown at 1:21 was kept as an attraction' at Jubilee Park until taken away some years later as scrap....... A great loss. I knew Rushden from 1945 until I moved away in the 1970's and some of its residual charm and beauty could still be seen in what was a thriving manufacturing town. It saddens me to see what a dump modern-day Rushden now is
