In today's video, I changed an electrical breaker at my grandmother’s house! Its been tripped so many times that the mechanism is very worn, and it trips without being overloaded. So, I installed a nice new breaker to get my grandmaw back in business. Let’s take a look at how to install a new breaker in your electrical box. During the video, no power was coming to the panel. Do not attempt this without supervision.

Rachel you said a breaker was tripping. FYI, there should not be 2 wires connected to each screw, or in your case, 2 wires per breaker because those are 2 pole breakers. Each switch on the breaker protects one circuit. You are putting one wire on one terminal and 2 wires on the other telling me there are 2 circuits on that one side of the breaker. It may work a while but could be overloading that side of the breaker. Your Dad seems pretty smart. Please ask him because it could be a potential fire hazard.

Couple things you need to add. Use some of those rubber coated gloves. Even the none coated will protect you from 110v. Proper use of screw drivers. Your index finger was out and touching the shaft of the screw driver. Last thing. 2 wires under 1 screw is not acceptable. Wire nut the 2 with a jumper thenn1 under the screw.

Thanks! The only way I was able to get you to listen. The reason the breaker is popping is you are overload the circuit. Read my other comment

My grandma has a dedicated 220 circuit but they changed the ac to a 110 and run it on a non dedicated circuit. The breaker is worn out because it tripped so many times over the years. We moved some things over to other circuits and now with the new breaker…all good.

❤️ If it keeps trippin maybe verify no have water leaking, loose connections somewhere such as that external light fixture at the entry door. Might want to remove rings, bracelets before hands in the electrical box. Not only to keep your nice things from being scratched but grounding. ❤️ have fun! Be careful

If that breaker trips so often that it is worn out then there is a bigger problem. Just addressing the symptom will not fix anything. In fact, it could help hide a potentially deadly problem that is the cause. I am sure you don't want your grandma's house to burn down in an electrical fire.

While that is a possibility, sometimes circuit breakers themselves malfunction and need to be replaced. However, if the new circuit breaker keeps tripping, then that would be a sign of another problem.

Really?? You are a master electrician and you approve of this video?? First, she had no equipment to verify whether or not voltage was present, a big NO NO!! Always check, no matter what you believe to be true, verify it!! Second, a 2 pole breaker should only have 2 wires going to it for a 220V load the second wire on the one leg should NOT be there. It will most likely produce an unbalanced load contributing to the breaker not functioning as it should. Third, the leg with two wires was mixing braided and solid wires, again nothing I would ever do. If you are forced to piggy back wires, do it on a single pole breaker! I just have difficulty trying to reason out why a braided wire is even in that box at all. What that braided piggy back wire is attached to should be looked into.

Hun did you test the circuits were definitely de energised with a multimeter?sometimes things arent wired up right or been altered/ tampered with.Good way to get zapped..keep safe

I'm good at hooking up rabbit ears to get TV reception but that's an antenna to pick-up radio waves... not live electricity which can cook you into a crispy critter.

You turned off the main breaker - fine. But when it comes to electrical, you should trust NOTHING, and should always use a voltage tester to verify that the wires you're touching are indeed dead. Call me a safety troll, but if you become a load on a circuit like that, you die.

guy..hem... I am expert on this matters... in some way, you're right, but there are different ways to know it... you can use a light bulb, but mainly, using insolating tape... and insolating your body.. or using a screw tester, too... or standing on a piece of wood, too...

Perfectooo!!! 😂😂😂👍 you can see how Rachel made it!!!... well, screwing wth rithm, too!!!... ✌️ (Edison could were so proud of her!!!) 🔌💡💥 😂😂😂.. noo.. just joking!!!...cool!!! just try to take cautions when you manage electricity.... first make a testing, with caution, if you pull out a wire, you can use masking tape to mark it... before connect the breaker, be sure that nothing has electricity.. even if the duck sounds when screw it... 😂😂😂 use tools, to make it good, and faster.. use some tweezers, is much recommendable... just don't cut nothing, just only if were necessary, only some, or the same to peal them, just the necessary to put inside, but the most insolated as possible...

Grandma needs new panel box with more breakers. Two wires underneath a single breaker is not within code, it is called double tapping. Sorry to say.
