Don't just clean the surface of a blade. Clean the gullets.

You're right - I've watched several videos where they talk about cleaning sawblades and no one has addressed this. The closest was talking about using a brass brush to scrub the teeth - and that didn't actually talk about the gullets. Thank you very much.

I used circular saws, (kept 3 on the job because I ran a crew), and never even thought about cleaning them. Sprayed them with silicone a lot, but my main thing was rough framing. I did my fair share of trim and would look for a cabinet shop to go into for the winter. We always sent our blades out for sharpening, and they would come back looking new. Thanks for this.

I like using the lid of a 5 gallon bucket to clean my blades. I use a toothbrush to get the buildup in the gullets. I flip the blade over and so I get both edges the same. I’ve never thought about using my vise though. I may try that next time, and see how it goes. Thanks for the video.
