Infernoid Sjette is easily one of the worst Infernoid monsters in the lineup, but when Void Feast came out we all had to start running him, because we needed a level 6 to summon double Decatron off Feast. It sucked knowing that slot could have been another Seitsemas or Deviaty, but that turn 1 double negate helped ease our pain.

Nah, I like amblowhale more than phoenix. All phoenix does is clog your board and get big. Amblowhale also gets big, it summons a monster that can actually do something if it is popped, and it is another pop on top of that. It does exactly what phoenix does alongside being an additional piece of interaction.

I feel like a really interesting thread would be about bad/unplayable cards that are amazing in masochist runs. From what ive experience with my own masochist run and watching cimo's run, theres so many cards that see virtually no play in any format or Yu-Gi-Oh that are crazy in masochist decks

Double or Nothing! I have played it in my PK Kali Yuga deck, and there are two super scuffed ways to get it back in the deck. Originally it required you to go really far out of your way to put it back using Saryuja's link 4 effect. The second, more recent, way is to use Cherubini and one other monster to make Spright Spring to send plague spreader to put it back on top of your deck. Also, funny side note, the sprind thing is a funny tech option in regular PK too. If you have enough room in the extra deck, you can add Gigantic Spright so that when you're going 2nd you can make it, pop 1 with rusty because a dark Xyz was summoned to where it pointed, then attack with it, use it to make Downard, then make Zeus. You may ask why you'd do this, and the answer is that: for the most part you wouldn't, the upsides are cool, but the downsides are also pretty big. To be a bit more specific: Pros: 1. Gigantic is a 3200 beater, so it can get over some big monsters 2. It gives you something to do with Cherubini, where it can sometimes be left on the field as a 500 attack liability Cons: 1. Plague Spreader becomes another garnet in a deck pretty full of garnets. Frankly, the number of garnets in the first place is so bad that it's actually optimal to play PK with 45 cards instead of just 40 2. Adding Sprind and Gigantic into your extra deck takes up 2 slots in an already tight extra deck. One last thing, don't play Raider's Knight or Arc Rebellion in PK. They fucking suck ass. If you need to beat over something then just pay Accesscode or Borrelsword, or honestly even just use Underworld goddess to link it off.

To be honest, One for One is a very good example for anything these days. It forces you to go -1 for a 5-7th chance to draw your engine, but we will play it despite the fact that one of the 12 handtraps our opponent plays might negate the summoned monster's effect anyway.

Branded Chimera players (myself included) justify playing either Versago the Destroyer or The Light - Hex-Sealed Fusion, especially if they're playing Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon, because it can be sent to the GY for Branded Fusion to summon out any Branded Fusion Dragon (since it'll copy the name of Fallen of Albaz for Fusion's effect), then be used as the substitute for Dark Magician for the summoning of Dragoon. More people are using Versago, though, because it's a Fiend that can be brought back from GY by Chimera the King of Phantom Beasts, or be dumped into the GY and/or brought back from Banishment by Berfomet the Mythical King of Phantom Beasts.

Ultimate Slayer is such a great card for decks that don't need their extra deck. If you need something for links, Bucephalus is a great choice as long as you play garura.

Black Meteor is actually pretty good in Red-Eyes Dragon Ruler Burn. Pitches a brick to summon itself as a 7, giving you both mats for Flare Metal and an actual target for it in the first place. This is usually how you manage ti get three Flare Metals on board, if not at least two.

except Scrap Golem is one of the BEST cards in Scraps, it specials Searcher to your opponents field which is a RAIGEKI unless theyre also on scraps

There's an 8 year old that plays tear at my locals. He has been trying to workshop his deck a lot because he's 8 and his deckbuilding isn't great, and I had to let him know that King of the Swamp allows him to play Rukallos again, but the fact all the dark tears are limited means he still struggles to do things well. Last week it was just me and him, with his dad there (his dad doesn't compete), so after playing a couple matches I offered to help him reevaluate his deckbuilding choices. Turns out the kid was playing an illegal deck the entire time and playing 3 Schieren and 2 Havnis, and nobody realized it because he was playing a 60 card pile. I don't think he has taken a game win at all, but he's still super excited to play and learn.

I don’t know if this counts, because the card itself isn’t bad, but now in MD, I’m playing not 1, but 2 Trivikarma, in a deck where if I set it, there is no scenario where I can activate it, because I run no targets in my deck, specifically to search Planet and if I have planet, Scream. It’s the worst garnet in my deck easily. It searches the best card in my deck, but it’s a nightmare to actually get out of my hand. It’s not a Tear name, so I can’t send it off Ruk or Reino, it’s not a monster, so Sheiren can’t pitch it it. My only cards that can discard it are Super Poly, the Dangers, and Tearlaments Heartbeat.

Red eyes meteor dragon can be bricks but it also is easy hand access to a red eyes in grave and a level seven on field with a special for a play for flare metal, and using it for red eyes fusion to send it to grave lets you get another fusion to keep your plays coming. I like it at least

Surprised nobody mentioned that literally half of the modern HERO deck is all hard garnets that don’t do anything but get freed up by a single starter or some niche 3-cards (although that prob doesn’t count for this because, let’s admit it, it’s not good by Twitter Thread standards) Increase (usually at 2), 3 Mali, Denier, Liquid, Mist, Miracle Fusion, Plasma, Dark Angel when you side it in, and now butt-naked Vanilla-ass Neos, Favorite Contact, and Winged Kuriboh LV6

My addition to this is the pink lab Servant. She’s absolutely terrible 90% of the time but the ability to be extra half copies of Arinana,is another way to discard Transaction Rollback, also triggers a cooclock in grave, and the fact unlike Ariana you can use both effects in the same turn makes it good enough you want to run 1 or 2 even though it sometimes bricks your hand and sometimes makes you decide between keeping your only interaction in hand and getting full setup at risk of a single imperm/veiler/ash killing it

People would sometimes run artemis magistus in invoked so you can get mechaba on the field asap. If your opponent got rid of it by banish or compulse, thats it, your turns done and you have nothing

I remember Spright playing Wind-Up Kitten a lot. Actually awful card, but it does bait out interaction and get rid of floodgate monsters, so it did come up frequently. Double Shoutout to Spellbook Library of the Crescent as well during Dragon Ruler format because you just wanted to load up on names for Judgment consistency and it was like 10% playable.

It's not necessary to play the Evil Twin brick to make Ultimate Slayer worth using on link monsters. Instead, you can send Tri-Brigade Arms Bucephalus II, and with its ability send Garura to draw a card.

I can see a future where your opponent gives you the gimmick puppet lock turn one and then sits back with their arms crossed all smug waiting for the scoop and then you proceed to play a full gimmick puppet combo

Scrap Golem was also necessary for a funny build Hardleg showed off a long time ago that made VFD when it was still legal.

Black Meteor is also a perfect target for Black Comet Dragon.

Imma be honest, I can't wait for Fiendsmith, not because I'm gonna play them as intended, but because they work far too well with one of my favorite decks of all time, Magical Musketeer, who are all light fiends, and already run Link Into The Vrains, which makes Requiem Unrespondable if you quick effect it immediately. Still not the next Zoo, and it's still worse than Runick, but I refuse to play Runick, and I enjoy playing Magical Musketeer (I remember when they were first translated and called 'Magibullet', which sounded so much cooler, but bullets and guns aren't allowed in english unless they're energy/magic blasters) So now I've got Fiendsmith put in with my Magical Musketeers that also run a copy of Eldlich. This is gonna be a fun rogue deck XD

I'm actually also from the future! And I'm using my Past Access to comment on this video, I missed the post date by a day or two but it's whatever, I'm gonna share this anyway. We've gotten to the point where each deck has archetypal handtraps that can allow full combos to be started during the opponent's turn, but there's one archetype we call the 'greed' archetype, but is technically 'Of Greed', that still needs to play Pot of Greed, which is a dead card in hand if you're going second, but they need it in deck because one of their best cards "Grinning Goblin of Greed" (Which is a retrain of Goblin of Greed) needs to send a Pot of Greed from specifically deck to grave, which turns on most of the engine. And I've tried running tech cards that discard for cost like some of the new Danger! support, but then I can run into hands where I just play them to turn on my other cards and then everything else gets negated cause I don't have enough gas in the tank thanks to going neutral with the Danger!, while my opponent is still going +1 and beyond with most cards. Though, going first, Pot of Greed is still an okay card, cause if it gets negated it still turns on all of your effects. It sucks it doesn't do anything when it is negated though, like the reason Grinning Goblin is such a good starter is because when it gets negated it still lets you summon a Greed monster from deck, and because you now have POG in grave for cost, you can use all the effects, like if you summon Smirking Eel of Greed (Which is the monster in the card art of Moray of Greed, which technically could be played in the deck but, isn't very good-) you can immediately use it's effect to negate a monster on board or in hand while searching another Greed card. And most Greed monsters rely on POG being in grave or banished for their good effects, and while some can send it, Goblin sends it for cost as it's base effect, so usually you'll use the hand effect of something like Smiling Imp to add Goblin, while chainblocking with something else, usually something expendable or with a good negated effect, and then Goblin to turn on the rest of the engine so they can do stuff on board. So when going Second, POG really can screw you over if you draw into it, you can still do stuff but generally you'll be stopped entirely before you can go into something like Giant Ceramic Golem of Greed, which protects all of your effects that draw or search from being negated, and is unaffected by card effects while you have POG in your Grave or Banishment. Another new Archetype still can hard counter you, since their whole shtick is banishing cards face-down, not unlike Kashtira which I THINK is still relevant during this time? I don't remember but I'm pretty sure it was some time between 2021 and 2024, but they can turn off the POG based effects, so most Greed decks have to play 3 of Lost Soul Recovery to flip up FD Banished cards in the side board. Anyway, I've used pretty much all of my daily Past Access, which I don't know how many people have explained it this far back but, eh, you'll probably figure it out eventually!

I've been playing a lot of Tear Horis on Master Duel and you are playing like, 5 or 6 cards you never want to see in your hand. Hapi and Trivikarma are glued to my hand.

Bit of a different spin but if you want really good end boards and quick OTK lines in Synchron you play arive in light with converging wills and stardust wyrm. Wyrm can occasionally give you access to speeder but converging wills just sits in your hand until you get arrive or bin it for jet. But in exchange you get shooting majestic which can OTK, has a permanent monster negate and a non-opt omni that banishes. An incredible pay off for one dead card and two mid ones

Awww I missed this one I would have put sunseed genius loci. I hate that and it's whole combo is basically necessary for Rikka/plant things. Such a massive use of ED space for specifically combo'ing.

I cannot win with Mementolan Ghattic. If it's in your hand instead of your deck, your entire combo is probably gimped, especially going first, where you have limited ways to get it in the grave by a monster's effect. It's one of those cards you look at and think "well, run it at one. you literally never wanna see it until you mill it with the horse!" But then you do that... and discover that Master Duel's hand algorithm clearly has it dictated that Ghat will be in the opening hand of a memento player no less than 90% of the time.

As a Scrap player, calling Golem bad is a terrible insult (like yeah you don't want to draw him, but I wouldn't call a soft OPT revive from grave bad)

Japan is currently clamoring over Dokuroyaiba, an old Vanilla from Pharaoh's Servant, all because of the new Primoredial Dragon archetype coming out in Rage of the Abyss. The Dragon itself looks at Vanillas in the Graveyard to negate things with the same Type and/or Attribute. Japan's current meta is Fire Kings, Snake-Eyes, Tenpai, Yubel, and Fiendsmith. Being able to hit all of those with a single card requires a FIRE Fiend Vanilla, which Dokuroyaiba is literally the only one in existence.
