These sound effects have been re-used in other productions so many times, it's hard to count. Most notably the hovering sound effect is probably best known as the Star Trek phaser sound, whereas the heat rays were used for quite a number of individual laser blasts in the original Star Wars trilogy (along with effects newly designed by Ben Burtt).

Star Wars did not have "Phasers" it had Blasters or Blaster rifles, and the X-Wing "Laser" sounds were first recorded by Lucas as hitting an electrical utility pole "guy wire" with a hammer. I saw that in a 'Making of Star Wars' documentary. (Will add a reference here if I can find one...)

The movies that have tripods have always made me laugh because, why do those mechanical legs have so many joints? Each joint is a weak point in terms of engineering. You want to reduce weak points, or at least add some external cover to protect them. But no, gotta have a bunch of articulated joints because...crickets. Plus, tripods aren't the most stable if you want them to be mobile as with each step, the machine is perched on two legs and can be easily knocked over. The most stable would be a pentapod where you could easily step with two legs off the ground and three still supporting the cabin.
