The reason for the “war”?
It actually began in USP Lewisburg in Pennsylvania where Big Al was the most powerful among the white prisoners. Among them were a group of White Nationalists formed around Richard Scutari, the former chief of security for a group of crazies known as “The Order”. The Order were actual white supremacists. They had killed a well known Jewish radio personality and robbed millions of dollars from armored cars to finance the creation of an all white ethnic state in the Pacific Northwest. So inside Lewisburg prison there was white guy named Randall Scott Anderson newly arrived from another prison. A race traitor to the white supremacists...though he sounds more like someone with psychological problems to me. Anderson had been a self-styled KKK member in 1992 when he made a pipe bomb and tried to blow up a roller skating rink because too many black people were there. But then, once he got caught and was sent to prison, he changed his tune and became a Muslim. In prisons, almost all of the Muslim “car” to use the parlance of the day, is black. So, in Lewisburg prison, Randall Scott Anderson was with the black Muslims. Big Al and the AB didn’t seem to particularly care, but the White Supremacists did.
On November 8, 1996, Anderson was stabbed to death. Three days later, in retaliation, black inmates killed white inmate Perry York, who was not a member of the white supremacists group, but, was white. Allegedly
Marek Kowaalski - formerly known as the skinhead Mark Frank Kowaalski - was serving time for bombing an NAACP chapter. Kowaaskli wrote a letter to white supremacist newsletter where he complained about being framed for the Anderson slaying... But when he was charged with the murder years later he immediately rolled over and testified against his accomplice in the killing, Peter Georgacarakos, the co-founder of The White Order of Thule society. One of the various exotic lunacies of the white supremacist movement. I guess no one ever told the white supremacists in prison that its actually impossible to be “supreme” while being an inmate. Whoops.
The killing of Perry York by blacks could have escalated the conflict between the White Nationalists and the Muslims to an all out race war in USP Lewisburg. In modern prison politics you do not lay a hand on a member of another race. However, under the leadership of Big Al Benton the Aryan Brotherhood in USP Lewisburg played an important role in calming the situation.
Now to USP Marion in Illinois, which had always been a hotbed of DC Blacks and AB beef. Marion was where John Gotti had been beat up a black bank robber from DC, leading him to put a hit out with the Brotherhood on the guy- Walter O. Johnson.
So right after Randall Scott Anderson was killed in Lewisburg, a member of the DC Blacks, assaulted, without provocation, a Dirty White Boy named Joseph Tokash. The Dirty White Boys were, perhaps are the triple AAA team for the Aryan Brotherhood.. Doing their bidding while jockeying for membership in the AB.
The assault on Tokash should on paper have caused the Dirty White Boys to immediately retaliate against the DC Blacks. However, the attacker had been on the outs with his own gang and it came out that he attacked Tokash in order to be placed in isolation, a well known tactic among those who want to PC up while making it appeart otherwise.
