It takes 40 seconds of research to realize everyone is recruiting well except Randy,for consecutive years. If coaching was the only thing that mattered and not recruiting,then Dan Mullen would still have his Florida job. Stop the 🧢

@@pappygilmore8949 ok hold on so atkins recruits have not done one thing. So recruiting well and developing the clay is 2 diff things. Randy molds his clay better than Atkins’s. Also, berthing wouldn’t have come if it wasn’t for Randy. Also, the lb group was one of the top groups on last years team, DONT forget that. Also, we run a 4 2 scheme with only 2 linebackers, so that’s against Randy too. Who go to a team that uses 2 lbs when you can do to one that uses 3 and you hand more opportunities to be on the field. Think about it. Randy’s development will be down again this year. Watch how the young lbs play, and then give Randy his credit.

What linebackers has he coached at Florida State that you would consider to be elite in college football? Statistically Bethune regressed during its time at Florida State. His best season for solar tackles and assist was 2021 at UCF. Now I will go ahead and preempt your argument , I know statistics are not everything but it's just a simple fact. If he's such a great coach on the field just imagine what he could accomplish if he could actually recruit elite talent!

He was already on the staff as analysts. Fuller wasnt doing much different back then than he does now. The difference was they got better players and developed the players they already had. Randy Shannon was getting phased out as a HC and primary DC because he struggled to adjust to stop spread out modern offenses so giving him credit for the scheme of Fuller who was good but not known prior to FSU isn’t really fair and somewhat ridiculous imo.

No. Because ALL programs even those have 4-2-5 sets. It just isn’t what they “Base” their defense principles out of. 4-2-5 just means the 2 LB’s have out there need to be that much better to make up for not having the extra man in the run fit until the safety comes down and be better in coverage.

@@jason15212 But it not the primary / main set. They shift to the 4-2-5 on a limited bias. And run there primary sets for the majority of the game. And the recruits understand it not there base set on D.

@@rwilmer3886 that’s necessarily true all the time especially today there is no team that really runes 4-3 majority of the time is what I’m saying. 3-3-5 is only still popular because it has 5 DB’s and backers have to be able to cover and run sideline to sideline just like in the 4-2-5. It’s not a scheme problem because A LOT of schools that run it are not having issue getting kids to sign. 4-2-5 if anything gives elite modern LB’s room to shine because they have so much responsibility in the defense and room to show their ability. We just aren’t getting the job done it’s as simple as that.

@@rwilmer3886 Also you have to remember that even in “3-4” fronts 1 of those 4 “LB’s” play as a DE most of the time with of the other 3 being true LB’s and the last 1 being a cross between LB/Safety in other words an elite athlete who can do anything. Like Georgia they run that defense so they can get as many talented athletes on the field at times. These kids aren’t stupid .

that's just making excuses. I've been following recruiting for over 40 years. Good recruiters are like good salesmen or good pick-up artists. It's all about messaging and connection.

Georgia gives less than schools all the time but the kids still commit to them because they’re bought in by their pitch. Not always about the money that deters a decision, sometimes it’s just for the simple fact that there’s a spark that’s missing.
