There is a much easier and less stressful way to do this; Fill one transporter with your 5 ogres and 1 peon and the other with the trolls, catapults and also 1 peon. Then go directly to the main island and go ashore where the camera is at 43:20. There is a guardtower there and a Great Hall to the west of that shore (blue, not purple), easy to destroy. You'll also get a visit from 2 ogres and a deathknight, but thats it. Remember to kill the peons, or they will build a new Hall somewhere nearby and thats annoying because they'll aggro your assault forces constantly as they wish to share that mine (at that point around 81000 G). Build yourself a Great Hall above the trees and you can destroy everything from within, at your own pace. It is wise to take out their shipyard first so they can't bother your starting settlement for long.

Kinda funny how for gameplay purposes they had to put trees on the Broken Isles despite Gul'dan only raising them from the bottom of the sea hours before.

This was always my favorite mission in the orc campaign, I have never assaulted the east island first. It was always captured the bottom 3, and secretly ferry peons between them to build up. I almost always fully upgraded te catapults first as they were the most useful with ships

This was when the Horde took too many casualties to face the Alliance and win the second war.

Oh my first true love for PC game.

I found this to be the hardest mission in the Orc Campaign. I like your strategy of getting the second gold mine first though. What I did was get a bunch of peons going, have plenty on every island getting that gold and lumber, then build two shipyards at once, get a Foundary, go ham with Jugs and dominate the sea. Once you have the sea, the rest is easy.

it took me ages to finish this mission, really difficult because of the limited amount of gold. the flying thinghy are really difficult to handle. took me lots of saving and i thought i couldnt make it. well done for doin in 1h.

Ok, I guess it wouldnt hurt to have one. I dont usually use them but I do see your point. Without them an enemy sub could take on my fleet. Im on the dun modr mission at the moment and I do have a zepplin with me. I will take your advice about the goblin zepplin, I never used them but if they can help me in my future battles then what the heck.

well for people looking how to do this level without many headaches, i suggest making the submarine turtles, the enemy got no detection, you can stop the ship's harassment by destroying their shipyards

I never tried it that way, I tried it the old fashioned way with large scale ground assualts. I did build a fleet but I kept most of them to guard the main base. I did sent out warships to sortie with the enemy fleets but they took heavy casualites and were forced to withdrawl. I had sent a full fleet of 16 ships mostly orc destroyers and only a few juggernauts. By the time I withdrew I had lost more than half of them and only about 5 returned back to base. As I said before I hated this battle.

Wow, I tried so many times to move one peon and one catapult to the first island and build a lumber mill and shipyard there, keep one peon at the start to build more farms, move the rest to the second island and build a hall, blacksmith and barracks there, and move the suiciders to attack the small purple island while the peons and oil gatherers worked their asses off... the ships always came to blow up my oil platform and shipyard as soon as they were built. I even had catapults and my starting ships there to guard it, hardly helped at all. I bet destroying the purple farms so soon makes a big difference in how many ships attack.

I never did it that way either, I always tried to use superior numbers to win but all it did was cause me more problems. So basically what your saying is I could use only juggernauts and pretty much level the entire enemy fleet and ground facilites within its range? Superior numbers and brute strength is what I always depended on, guess it was the wrong strategy.

I went with the first tactic and won and now im about to engange the alliance at dun modr. My strategy is to destroy the alliance forces south of my starting position then build up an invasion force of several transports. Establishing naval superiority is the key I know and with stromgarde I have to be careful. Securing all the oil deposits is crucil and it will deny the alliance a crucial asset. Its my fav overal strategy in naval battles, deny the enemy all oil desposits.

You can get with Map Editors, Lagest maps. Same 7 maps if can. Insaid water und lands. A can waiting! 😢😢😢😅

I think a sub or two would have been a benefit when the enemy Juggernauts started pushing. Otherwise, good strats

Ok I got it. Im playing a new campaign mode for tides of darkness as the horde. Im about to attack hilsbrad right now and im still trying to decide on a strategy. Should I destroy their fleet then isolate them while I collect resources? Or should I build up a large force of several transports and attack? I know that the hilsbrad battle is only the beginning of the long campaign battles. I will follow your advice on the later battles with the juggernauts :)

Do you ever use the goblin sappers in this? If so, at what point?

Agreed. I had to launch several assualts on that stupid northern island just to get a beachhead established.

A large fleet of juggernauts? Juggernauts are expensive but they are worth it though. I dont usually use zeppelins, I never really saw them as useful. Are zeppelins really that crucial, I always thought of them as unnessary units?

Hey Man. I have a feeling you deliberately let the ogres and trolls get killed by the death knight. Otherwise i think we would lure the DK over then let ogre back in boat so the DK take a cannon to the face. Or just catapult his azz first.

Well im taliking about the battle on a whole. I first take the southern islands after some casualties. Over time after establishing a base I build alot of transports. I launch two major assualts from two different parts of the large island in the north. I launch a third attack from the south with another force. A total force of 48 units. I have fourth group waiting in reserve protected by warships and juggernauts. The southern group won but at a high cost. I never liked this mission, I hated it

fucking hate this map, either you raid the main north island or it's a do-over. starting with the small south island takes a million hours and as soon as you plop down that shipyard, a parade of enemy dreadnaughts shows up uninterrupted

Yeah. I'm going to cheat on this one. I hate to do that because I finished all of the other missions legit but this one is impossible otherwise. If the only way you can win is by cheesing the AI to patrol an unoccupied oil reservoir and camp at your northern shoreline, that is BS. And with how my version plays, I even tried to lure them away from my shipyard area with the transports, what did the nonstop parade of juggernauts do? Ignored them and went right after my shipyard. It seems like you need things to go just the right way and have some luck just to beat this mission. Poor design and way too aggressive AI. And if it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all. So I am going to cheat this one and try to beat the next two legit.

wow they really bork you over at the beginning of this one eh? you really have to know what you are doing here as there are only 1 or 2 ways you can even do this mission. kinda bad design...
