I'll never forget reaching the tops of the mountains surrounding Mulgore with my two best friends and seeing Thunderbluff for the first time. The sun was setting opposite of the city when we arrived. With the sun quickly leaving sight and the stars beginning to show themselves we ventured to the heights of Thunderbluff where we saw the sprawling land we had just traveled from stretching far out into the distance. We were so adamant about leveling, getting experience and proving ourselves. But for just a moment, we all waited in silence until the sun set over the mountains before we continued our journey to becoming heroes of Azeroth. There's some things you just can only truly feel from playing Warcraft. We had never seen anything like it in a game and I'll never forget it.

I truly feel sad for those who missed out on this incredible game.

I am not ashamed that I cried multiple times during this documentary. World of Warcraft has touched my heart and taught me endless life lessons. It brought me joy when I was learning to deal with depression and the harsh realities of life. One of my few regrets in my short life is that I cannot go back and relive all the precious moments that I was blessed enough to enjoy. Thank you, Blizzard. Please, never stop pouring your heart into your work.

I never played WoW, and I always felt like I missed a big portion of gaming

I never tell people my real life story to why i became a WoW freak, I won't got to specific in location or my life style but my story on why i played WoW involved the ghetto. My family who took care of me when I was in my young teen years were always worried I would end up a drug head or dead on the streets like all my other friends who would gang bang. Honestly, I wanted to join them and was apart of that one crowd that called WoW players "nerds" or "no lives". I got annoyed and tired of my friends since all they wanted to do was get in law breaking trouble so one day while I was on youtube i came across a bunch of WoW videos and was amazed, I didn't know this was WoW until i read the title of a video and decided to try a trial since a add for WoW was on the side. Years later here I am, Some of the friends i used to hang out with years ago are dead or in prison but I am still out here, I thank blizz because they really got my life straight and turned me away from the path I was going down. Respect.

I wanted to learn how to heal in wrath of the lich king. I met a holy paladin that took the time to teach me. That holy paladin is my husband now. We have known each other close to 10 years and been married for 1 year. WoW allowed me to meet the love of my life and my best friend.

I've been a player since Wrath of the Lich King (on and off), and I've NEVER been so immersed in any game as much as I have in World of Warcraft. I've had many, and such fond memories of playing WoW ever since my very adolescent years. I was just too young to comprehend exactly all that was going on; realizing all of the game's ins and outs, its unrivaled beauty that has made many players pour out thousands, even millions of different versions of a sense of exploration, revelations, and inspiration. My most fond memory was when I first discovered Old Ironforge, and King Magni Bronzebeard incased in a magical-crystalline shell. It was almost like I was staring at a celestial figure, pondering the various markings that lay about the floor, and what history lye upon the chipped and aged walls. Blizzard Entertainment made my childhood the best years of my life, and it is a kind that should be sought after by many other children from the coming generations. I feel that everyone should be able to experience the same feelings as I have, and just maybe change some significant perspectives on some view points in their own lives. Thank you, Blizzard. 35:10 True what he says about sunrise as one of my most memorable moments on WOW was during sunrise, was around 4 : 30/5 : 00 AM in Mulgore playing my old Tauren character levelling my cooking when another player came across me and started talking, got talking for an hour about the game and random things, I didn't even know the person yet we were talking as if we were friends who haven't talked in years. That was about seven years ago now but it has always stuck in my memory, two things I have always loved about WOW, the beautiful, often epic scenery and atmosphere (and music at that) and the sense of community among players.

I think the biggest thing about whats wrong with WoD at the moment aren't these little things everyone has been complaining about on the forums, its at 40:40 where I realised what it is: Warlords of Draenor feels off, not personal (on alot of levels: storyline, music, overal setting, and then the little things from the forum posts like garrissons, etc..) And when I think back like these people at 40:40 about the memorable times I had I can name alot of em, but none of em happened in WoD. So I think more than anything WoW just needs to become this social, hard but rewarding world that projects that atmosphere. It needs to be "home" again Sorry for this philosophical little rant but thats how I feel, and if other people feel the same, I hope this little thought will reach one of the Devs will read this and take something from it.

One thing I've always loved about Warcraft and being a WoW player was how much you can just tell the people who made this game wanted a good game and they want people to have fun. They really want to do their best to make it the closest they can to perfect because they love it, too. It's inspiring how truly passionate everyone at Blizz really is about the game and the players and the world. I think that's a large contributing factor to how WoW has stood the test of time so well against other MMOs and just other games in general. Everyone has their complaints or things they'd do better or whatever, but that aside the people who make this game really do care. Keep up the good work Blizz, I hope to be playing well into my 80s so you best be putting out another 60 years worth of content minimum

I've rewatched this movie at least 4 times now and I just watched it again today, and what I think keeps me coming back to watch this is to almost re-live a memory of a Vanilla WoW player and see what it was like to play back then, how the game was more of an adventure, not all about just queuing for the rewards. Life is about the journey, not the destination, and that just makes me sad that I wasn't able to experience what Vanilla was like. I am currently 14 (Turning 15 later this year) and when WoW first released, I was 1 to 2 years old lol. I got interested in WoW because of my dad. He was a player from the day it released. I grew up watching him play, and my best childhood memories was when I was around 3 to 4 years old and my dad would let me sit on his lap and spam spacebar, because it made his character jump, and at the time, that was the best thing in the world. It made me laugh a lot. But when I was around 6- 7, I forget when sadly, my dad allowed me to make my own character, and actually play it. This was my dream at the time, little kids like me didn't have any life goals, I just wanted to be like my dad. I've been playing WoW ever since.

How have I missed this documentary all these years? This is so awesome! Having had the chance to interview a Warcraft 3 developer, I have a much deeper respect for the work that went into all of Blizzard's work.

I've always seen Azeroth as my second home since October 2006. During Hallows End was the time I first started playing with an account we shared with in the family and later created my own account in April 2007; which remains one of my best decisions so far. Thank you Blizzard for giving us the oppertunity to explore the rich world of Azeroth. This whole experience was certainly enhanced with the amazing community, so I'd like to thank the players I've met during my adventure. See you on the other side of the portal, let see how the Iron Horde fare against the powerful Horde and the mighty Alliance.

Pre cata world of warcraft gave me so many feelings that are impossible to portray in text. Every attempt people make to describe those feelings always looks so dull and basic... but i know what is locked behind that text, and it was absolutely amazing!

I know the night before logging out when Cata was released, I remembered staying up all night, doing multiple screenshots to capture how Azeroth looked. When I logged out then back in and saw what had become of Azeroth, I remember almost wanting to cry. It still gets me seeing an area or spot changed. I love this game!!!

I'm playing wow since 7 years now, and I did not regret it. I love this world, and I have many fun memories from this game. The one thing that I will never forget when we were running through Arathi Highlands to Wetlands with my Warlock friend to do a quest in order to be able to summon a Succubus. The land was beautufil. Great plains with the ruins of a big city...I loved it. Then we got ganked by a higher level paladin two or three times. After that we decided that we should avoid the main road, and move through the plains. It was a great adventure :)

7 Years of World of Warcraft and i start to tear up when i see a lot of this. I love Blizzard and everything they do for us. This game is a community , a way of life and a common grounds between those who wouldn't have any otherwise. I implore anyone who hast played this game to just jump in , try it. You will create everlasting memories and maybe even find a world that feels more like home than anywhere else.

Seeing people truly love their jobs just makes me die on the inside wishing I could have those feelings.

6 years of my life I played wow. I started playing in 2005 and ended my time in wow shortly after that disaster of an expansion Cataclysm. Literally everything I loved about wow was changed or taken out. I'll never forget the first time I did Molten Core, I was on my Resto Tauren Druid on Sargeras server in the guild Arch Coven. I was actually the only Druid in that entire 40 man run and 4 pieces of Cenarion tier 1 dropped! Happy days man.

All devs should watch this documentary, to realize what WoW should be about..

One of my favorite WoW stories: I started back in Vanilla as an Orc Warlock... one of my favorite areas is the Badlands, because at level 40, i managed to make my way there via the long trip from Undercity south through the Arathi Highlands and the Wetlands and Loch Modan through all of the Alliance territories.. Entering the Badlands I was in awe of the zone because my previous favorite zones had been the barrens and thousand needles.. I was standing outside the horde outpost looking through my quest book when an undead priest came running up with his hunter friend and asked me to summon another player. I had yet to meet a priest in game and immediately became friends with him, I gave him some healing cloth gear that I wouldnt be able to use as a warlock, and we summoned his friend.. Years later That priest and I are still real life friends and have each made many a road trip to hang out with each other for a week at a time even though we live roughly 2000 miles apart.

I watch a lot of streamers and it seems easy to criticize and nit pick the decisions that Blizz make, but watching this really brings home just how much passion and love goes into this game, just how much they want to make it work not just for profit, but to have a good old geek out. Writing this we're coming towards the end of legion and i just want to say to Blizz thank you and keep 'em coming.

Everquest was my first ever MMO. Played from 2000-2013. That game will always have a very special place in my heart. So glad that WoW picked up where it left off, in a way, and has grabbed a different piece of my heart that I still get to play to this day. Sadly my EQ days are over, but hopefully my WoW ones are far from it.

World of Warcraft is the greatest games I ever played. World of Warcraft has inspired me to become a Computer Animator, today I am a Student a Full Sail University, learning new and better ways to become a animator, in hopes of one day walking up to the amazing Garrosh statue at Blizzards head quarters. World of Warcraft has been a huge impact in my life. I thank every person who was apart of World of Warcraft and the making of the game. I'm sad to say I have never been to a BlizzCon but someday I will. I am super excited for the Anniversary because Blizzard has done a very good job of creating every part of every game they have ever created. I would say my favorite part of all the World of Warcraft was when I got my Worgen Druid to 90. I was in Towlong Steps when I hit 90. I was on a Skype call with my Dad and Mom and my Brother-in-law we were all playing together, they were all level 90 trying to help me out. The moment I hit 90 I started to jump up and down for joy. I was so happy that day. I am super excited to become level 100, and also the garrison, that sounds like fun. My favorite location of all of Azeroth would have to be Shrine of the Seven Stars because the pure beauty of the creation and design of the building. I am so proud to be a Blizzard costumer. I Thank you all from the bottom of my Heart, you guys rock. Maybe one day I will meet some of the animators from Blizzard. To all the World of Warcraft fans out there. No matter if you are Horde or Alliance, Azeroth is our home, everyone inside of Azeroth is just like you. We are all one. Long live Azeroth, Long live the Alliance, and Long live the Horde. May your Journey the Azeroth be a good one. Kick some butt and take some names,hahaha if you know what I mean. We are one great family who have different sides of views but even after the fights of the Alliance and Horde no matter what side you are on, you can keep in mind, that even thought you fight for your side, you can know one thing. I STILL think about it.. all the team raids of MOLTEN CORE and many great dungeons .. and battle against mates who have the same class to make the top 40 for GUILD RAIDS... most memorable moment.. was being lead by a 12year old... GUILD Leader ... who yelled at us older peeps... and us older peeps, especially us military soldiers who play wow on our spare time, taking orders from a 12year old kid.... hearing his voice yell out commands in where we should stand and what we should do etc.... lol and giving us warnings if we didn't make it to a event we might lose our spot in the top 40 man raid lol.... can remember the 12yr old yelling at members to shut up and he is the only one that should be speaking on mic lol ... great memories and great life friendships met.. many of us left, but we still talk about WOW till this day.... THANKS WOW Staff for all you have done... one day i'll reconnect.... but young ones now play.... and watching them.. i tell them about GUILDS and 40man raids ... for the ALLIANCE .... Didn't start playing till then end of Wotlk and immediately from my background in mlg from Halo 3 I went to the arena side of the game. Eventually by the end of Mop when I started taking arenas seriously I got 2.2k in 3s, 2.1k in 2s, and 2.1k in 5s. Along with 2200+ in rbgs. I even started an online business and was making 14/15$ a hour just watching netflix and playing arenas haha (which I know is against the rules but eh they created the market for it). Such a great ride thus far really broke me out of my shell when I went from being quiet and a little reserved to co leading 2200+ rbg teams in skype. There is of course the summers of non stop playing with my buddies from school talking about what our 3s team name would be or going over strategy while swimming in my pool. Those were definitely the days I remember the most! I ended up having my sleep schedule turn into waking up at 7-9pm and going to sleep at 10am-12pm in the afternoon which was a great experience because I met an Australian guy who was just a blast to play/Skype with we eventually became pretty much best friends just across the pond from each other. There was also my first time hitting 2000 rating in 3v3 with some other Aussies who really gave me the confidence that I could actually play at a higher level than just the 1700s and that type of confidence they allowed me to realize is part of what this movie stands for.. The game broke borders and allowed me the opportunity to grow as a person without leaving my chair now explain that to my parents haha.

Thank you Blizzard! It's been a wonderful ride, and here's to many more years! Amazing documentary.

You give emphasis on community etc, but in game you have ruined most community events and activities. LFR/LFG/ETC . 0 communication. Server community? Nope, xrealms, rare farm bitching, etc. Guilds? Lootwhores Progression guilds with zero tolerance and social activities. Fishing contests for the whole server? YEY...oh wait not so fast, more drama, griefing, pvp ganks etc. Do something already. WoW is a phenomenon. WoW is the trendsetter in modern MMOs. BUT WoW is NOT invincible, it has flaws. You can tell by the number of subscriptions which have dipped and keep dipping. By the utterly crap customer service run by clueless people who just copy paste. Fix it now. Stop destroying my favourite game Activision Blizzard

18:03 Such a horrible brush off for the indomitable and ruthless forsaken. When I made my account in vanilla and it was time to select a character I knew I wanted to be a warrior. But I didn't want to be a towering tauren or the mack truck that was orc and trolls were too elongated. In Forsaken I saw a warrior that stood smaller, bones showing and hunched over but in his eyes an eerie glow that promised death at the edge of his blade. As I played the game I learned of how we were exiles, so like our scourge brethren but given the freedom of will to forge our place in the world. When I witnessed the undercity I fell in love with this game and this race and there was no prouder moment to ride upon a red skeletal warhorse at 60 for the first time and take my place as a Deathguard in the service of the Forsaken.

This is beautiful. Doesn't matter your faction or race, who you are in real life, or how you play the game, we're all a big family sharing the same space.

This game means so much to me. Thank you for everything Blizzard and the community

I played WoW from classic until the end of BC. It left such a mark on my life that to this day I still watch videos of people streaming, raiding, and ninja videos almost daily. I won't attribute all my success to WoW but will attribute some as I became addicted to the game and started to learn about limits and who I was during that time. It was a great game and plan to make a glorious return when they re-release BC.

There are people I raid with who are in high school now that I sang lullabies to on vent when they were toddlers while we were waiting on an Ony raid to come together nearly a decade ago. So many people I never would have encountered that I can't picture my life without now in countries around the world. I have my complaints over nerfs, design changes and such, but I'll never be able to thank Blizzard enough for giving us such a solid place to stand while all these relationships have time to cement into the marriages, friendships and shared adventures that make the WoW culture such a different beast from anything else I've played before or after.

I started playing during Wrath, I wish I was old enough in 2004 to experience this huge stamp in gaming culture. The nostalgia is so surreal.

From latinamerica, It was hard to play the game because we didn't have good internet connection and they weren't selling the game on the release here. We managed to play on private servers but they were always deleting all our characters, closing the realm and we had to start looking for a better one. I won't lie, I've played more than 50 private servers, my first was Whiterock, hosted by owner2552. After some years of playing wowscape, burningwow, aniwow, etc, I've meet a guy in the school who was playing the "retail". I didn't belive him that because the game was so dang expensive in my country, and required a sub... I was like "no bro, you'r just messing up with me" but he was serious. He invited me to play it, we started leveling together with RaF, and we managed to get into 70 in less than a month. The feeling was different, the retail was more "city" than the servers I've played before. The people had respect for those who had shoulders from PvP, or cool titles, not for the love of loving the other guy that are playing with you.. WotLK came, and MEH!! I went back to feel that epicness of a new content, a new expansion, different stuff to do, WINTERGRASP OMG... It was incredible, my enthusiasm for the game reborned once again. I still play on retail, I'm waiting for WoD, I have big hopes on this new expansion. MoP wasn't bad but I feel like Pandas and Warcraft are different stories, not the one we used to play in our history of the game. Thanks you Blizzard for giving me World of Warcraft, I think that my life would be better without it but I can't ever say it wasn't part of my life. I have to deal with it. I grew up on Warcraft. Played Warcraft 3 when I was in 7th grade, went to LAN parties with it. Spent hundreds of hours when I had no home internet to modding Warcraft 3 maps. I soooo badly wanted to work for Blizzard then, Only lived 50 mins from their HQ too, like all my life- so it was feasible. Never quite got to that, I wanted to develop/produce, test and/or design games, be a part of what makes them fun and even story. Gameplay and level design I loved very much. MY guildmaster for my guild was Sir John Trickett, an actual knight. Missed a great opportunity to meet these Co-Founders, because I was timid 19 yr old college kid who had finals and school work around Blizzcon time, but he was buddies with them being that he owned a recording studio and professionally connected as well as a player of the game in our guild. He passed away a few years ago, which is a tad bit saddening. Kind of motivational but, always triggers the "what could've been" side of thought in me.

Out of all of this video I got so psyched when they mentioned EverQuest. Also, seeing the guys in their beginning stages of life as well as how World of Warcraft developed from the gritty strategy game from the 1990's. Seeing Bahjeera in this also rocked as I am a Warrior fanatic myself. Cool video!

Thanks to all the hard working Blizzard staff, past and present. I had never seen this documentary, but sure glad I finally have. Some might not want to read all the rest of this, since it's just really about what Warcraft means to me personally, as one player of many. Even after all these years, the Warcraft world IS STILL the only gaming experience to have forever become part of my being. When you consider your characters as a real extension of yourself, or how you would be just devastated to actually lose them for any reason, you know you've created something very special on so many levels for us as players. After 13ys of playing on and off, I still find myself needing to come back to Azeroth, and see how the world has changed and progressed, to see old friends and make new ones. There's just no other storyline or game that could hold someone's attention and devotion for this length of time, even more so than Everquest ever could for me frankly. I'll continue paying my subscription as I have, forever if possible, even when on hiatus cause it's just a given for me. There's Earth and then there's Azeroth, which world would you truly prefer to live in? If you said Azeroth, then you are one who understands what this is all about. Thank you Blizzard, for everything good and bad, the whole package.

Started playing wow when i was 7 years old and play today and i will never quit it to play

I know this is old, but it is absolutely amazing to see the developer behind the scenes, to see their joy and excitement. I've been playing since Vanilla, and I won't lie in that I am a bit of a cynic at times but seeing their genuine excitement for things I may have disliked is a kind reminder that everything that goes into WoW is a product of developer passion. I hope, however unlikely, that before WoW ends I can go to Blizzcon to just view that passion in person. This video stirred up a lot of memories, and a few tears. Thank you for this.

Those guys Metzen, Adham, Morhaime, Pearce, Samwise, Dabiri, Brower, The Koiter Brothers (TC), etc. . They were my heroes from the first time playing LOST VIKINGS, WC1: Orcs & Humans, Starcraft 1. Much Love to the classic Silicon Synapse Studio making my childhood already so much more enjoyable, letting me dive deeper into fantasy worlds, they have passion to create with lore and a fantastic gameplay! After all, I can only say I'm super thankful as ex-employee to have served during a time, when those guys were there and made that passion a real thing and letting me be a tiny part of it. Oh how I remember these days... A simpler time.. I don't think it's the content that everybody misses about Vanilla, but the community and the feel of the game back then. The world was alive and vibrant with people out leveling there characters and professions. Guilds were families, and you had a hardcore allegiance to your faction. You also only knew your server. For example, I would see the same Horde guys that were leveling the same rate and zones as me from Stanglethorn Vale all the way through being level 60. I developed feuds with many of them over the 30's 40's 50's and at level 60 as well. Also my guild back then (which was the top Alliance guild on the server) had a feud with a Horde guild (which was top Horde guild of the server) and about every Friday night one of there guild would gank one of our guild and then a few of ours would show up then a few more of there's and so on until a massive guild war broke out in some random "noob" zone as we called it back then. World PvP isn't even really around today. And I was on Illidan too which was the top server back then and probably is the most infamous WoW server out there. The main thing, however, is simply the fact that the game is 12 years old now. Everything was new and fresh back then, so of course every single little thing was epic and questing new zones was fun even though it was always the same thing with new monsters (kill 10 of these, collect 10 of those, kill this boss). Does that mean the game still isn't fun? No! It just isn't that same epic game it once was.

I started WoW at late Cataclsym and I am really sad that I miss previous expansions, raid moments, first looks. Whenever I run into first time a zone or entrance , the art gets me all the time. Its like I am looking a great picture that everybody should experience. I hope they never lost that passion.

I may never play world of Warcraft again as i'm not that rich to keep paying for it. But it was the first MMO i played and it's probably the reason i still play any kind of game at all to this day, Show how far a vision can be taken if there's enough passion in a group of people to make it so. thank you Blizzard for opening the gates to a world beyond gaming and even if i never set foot on azeroth again, NO FREAKING UNICORNS! put a three head hippo in there instead.....=)

Chris Metzen seems like he has a presence about him like he's the A. Stark of Blizzard.

What a brilliant doc this is. I've not played for a year but just resubbed immediately, lol. Thanks for all you've done and the memories you've allowed me to create.

I remember this day. At 2:34 my little brother is actually posing with Chris Metzen. On multiple occasions I can see my mom, my dad and me just walking the lobby. Such an awesome day, that I had to stand at the entrance for 16 hours to ensure me and my family would get awesome seats!

I just started playing a month ago, wish I started sooner. It truly is a work of art.
