Wardens - Season 5, Episode 11 & 12: Invasive Species & Axel 'n' Chains | Outdoor Documentary
Watch the next episode of 'Wardens' here: • Wardens: Stolen Future...
In this episode:
Protecting Montana Waters from Aquatic Invasive Species is a top priority for Montana FWP. But when AIS check stations are set up in Region 1 and 3 it's up to the Wardens to educate the public and
when Wardens respond to a call sometimes getting there is most of the battle. And we pay tribute to an honorary warden that will truly be missed.
When your job is protecting our most precious natural resources in some of the nation’s most remote areas, there is rarely a dull moment. Wardens chronicles the lives of Conservation Officers in America. The show features the men and women who protect public lands, from ride-alongs on interstate game checks, to anti-poaching sting operations; from remote snowmobile trails in grizzly bear country, to unforgiving white-water rapids. While the focus of Wardens is enforcement of regulations, the show takes special precautions to ensure the general public understand those who would violate the rules are the minority and the vast majority of encounters with our Wardens are law-abiding citizens.

When using tire chains spinning the wheels is always Going to brake the chains or the vehicle and from what I seen my jeep grand cherokee would have made it without chains especially when you know what you are doing and not in the mindset of its not on me to pay for the repairs

In colorado at blue mesa reservoir they make you do an inspection for invasive weeds. muscles etc. They run a hotsy pressure washer through your motor. To kill off anything unwanted. They'll do anchor ropes and probe around and inspect your rig.

If you knew how to drive, you could easily make it with one set of chains or even no chains. In our State, you can retrieve game that is down, without a firearm or bow. You don't need landowner permission unless you cannot see the game and think it may be still alive.

The thing I don't get is they get on us messing up the dirt trails and roads but if they can't get up the path even with chains right why can they mess up the trails and just not wait for the people in trouble at the end of the path

I live between two lakes. All of the “No Wake Zones” are clearly marked with buoys. Is that not a thing in Montana?
@winterwolf13

No it’s not. Most areas aren’t marked at all. Just as the private property isn’t always marked. A lot of western states seem to have no marked wake zones

@@winterwolf13 wow! I get the private land not always being marked because that’s up to the landowner but a lake that is controlled by the fish and wildlife dept or water patrol seems like it should be marked. 🤷‍♂️

@@K.Fulkerson only really like the swimming spots are. Also for private land, Montana doesn’t require it by law to be marked. Most do require it by law and the landowners can be punished if they dont

@@winterwolf13 the private land doesn’t have to be marked where I live and hunt, that’s totally up to the land owner. Really the only no wake zones where I fish are at take off near the ramps and around the marinas, all are clearly marked though. Different rules for different places I guess.

No different than knowing laws of driving on the road. You learn them. Just like it's not posted you must signal 300 feet before you turn, you have to learn it. You are supposed to study boating laws. Most don't because you don't have to pass a test to operate a boat like you do a vehicle. But there should be a test for boating that must be passed before being allowed to operate a boat. People will break a boating law and then cry when they get a citation or get stopped.

To have an UNMARKED wake zone around an entire lake is purely for revenue generation. If it were to protect the shore, it would be marked.

My god almighty, when you only have 1 set of chains, and you are going uphill, put the chains on the BACK! When going up hill, the steeper it is the more weight on rear and less on front. Probably 90% of traction comes from the rear in this situation. Very basic off-roading, looks bad on the driver’s off road training.
