Wardens - Season 3, Episode 1: Operation Grizzly Bear | Outdoor Documentary
Watch 'Wardens - Season 3, Episode 2' here: • Wardens: Operation Wat...
In this episode:
This week, game wardens deal with a missing child who was last seen dragged off by a bear... good thing it's only a training excercise. Meanwhile it's opening season for shed antler hunters and the wardens have their hands full!
When your job is protecting our most precious natural resources in some of the nation’s most remote areas, there is rarely a dull moment. Wardens chronicles the lives of Conservation Officers in America. The show features the men and women who protect public lands, from ride-alongs on interstate game checks, to anti-poaching sting operations; from remote snowmobile trails in grizzly bear country, to unforgiving white-water rapids. While the focus of Wardens is enforcement of regulations, the show takes special precautions to ensure the general public understand those who would violate the rules are the minority and the vast majority of encounters with our Wardens are law-abiding citizens.

I would not either but it really is kind of a party. MOST people behave themselves. A few try to ruin it. Yesterday was opening of trout season at a local lake where the fish tend yo be a bit bigger than most places. I went to fish off the dock where people with disabled licenses have priority. Most people know me and just give me a spot. One guy questioned three other people who were telling him I had a permit. Even though I now had space, he crossed my line every cast so that seems it was on purpose. He was, also, mouthing up a storm. I showed him my permit but he called it fake. Somebody called it in. F & G were busy so a county mounty showed up, recorded the guy, and then arrested him. "Failure to yield priority" and 'Disorderly conduct" for swearing at me and the people who had yielded priority. He was also trespassed from the park until after his hearing. All those people who yielded? WE got REALLY close on the dock, had a party, and everyone caught fish. I don't like being crowded, but it is fun when it turns into a party. Peace to you...

It has been demonstrated without question that a grizzly in charge does not show ANY relent when sprayed with pepper deterrent. Grizzlies have been shot multiple times with large caliber guns and continue to charge and even kill people before slowing down. Spend a night in a tent with a griz in camp and you will begin to understand the meaning of the word "fear".

literally the most all around easy going "law enforcement" me or anyone I know has never even needed to be talked to by them. If you regularly experience them and think they are insane, you are probably the type of person they look for. It is very easy to talk to game wardens, so either you are the type of person that tries to sit on the line of legality or for some reason you out of all people have just had the worst experiences in all of the 50 states. hunters are typically back the blue people so I'd be curious how the most corrupt and violent law enforcement compares to people protecting the very earth and resources we use. also what moment in this video is "insane"? you will complain about game wardens but not see peoples arguments with police I'm guessing, only because police encounters don't inconvenience you. you are probably just salty from being busted hunting illegally at some point. real hunters respect game wardens and the rules and most likely will never even run into wardens. pretentious hunters that make it their personality think they are owed anything because they have a rifle and camo.

@@kylek6708 Let me tell you about insane wardens as we have a few. Opening day on Pine Lake, Samammish, WA 5 years ago, the dock is crowded, everyone is being cool, tangled limes are being straightened, the kids are catching fish, and officer Apple is checking licenses. That IS his name, by the way. A woman with an infant turns to her husband and says the baby is wet. She picks the kid up and the diaper bag, while he reels in her line (you have to be with the line at all times it is in the water). Apple comes over like a shot and asks the guy if he has a two-pole endorsement (you pay extra to use two lines at once). The guy is confused and tells him he is only using one rod. Nope, he had his hands on the woman's rod so he was using two rods. He was cited for it. Seems like EVERYONE on that dock was yelling at him that the baby was more important than citing the person reeling in her line. Nope. The guy was cited. And this is NORMAL for agents on the west side of the Cascade Mountains. A lot of us showed up for THAT hearing. The judge rebuked the agent and said that the spirit of the law was to keep people from leaving lines out all night long and dismissed it. We talked to the couple afterward and they say they will not fish in our state ever again. And this is normal in WA state.

Buy a good snow shovel. Not those plastic ones that shatter when it gets below -20. Make sure you carry enough gear in your car to survive for a few days in case you get stuck. If you get frostbite bad enough that your skin blisters, turns black and starts to slough off then get medical attention. Anything else you just take some aspirin because there’s nothing they can do about it. Enjoy your time in Montana and don’t eat the scenery, that’s what keeps the tourism money flowing.

The other 49 states have Wardens too just like your “Law-Dogs”. State agencies seem to prefer Law Based and not Wildlife based Wardens, probably because they are cheaper. After all, most Wardens only have a High School education. When States require their Wardens to have a Wildlife Management education from a college, the Wardens seem to be better trustees of our Wild Things, but alas, are a little more expensive… as it should be. The young man hunting antler shed was fully justified and not fined! The land owner should be fined or at a minimum be forced to do education or community service to fully understand how to protect his property safely and the wildlife that was there first that he shares it with! He shot a bear from his front porch!! I wasn’t there and they didn’t elaborate on how he accidentally shot the bear while doing a warning shot, he should have fired a round into the dirt and if that did not deter the bear then he should have gone inside and called fish and game! They did not say he was defending livestock or pets, I’m sure if he was he would not have been fined! Again just going off the information given in the WHOLE video!

There is a common theme from this show, it is a warden being convinced someone has broken the law, and then going to extremes to pin a bogus charge on someone. The lesson to be learned is don’t hunt Montana.

It’s like this on all the game warden shows, and we know some of the scenes are staged for viewer affect but your right, seems like these guy will go to no end to charge someone with somthing, guilty until proven innocent. I’ve hunted all my life but really what these shows have done is taught hunters is shut up, don’t say a word until you get a lawyer and when they tell you they know the answers they generally don’t. I honestly think these shows are designed for the non hunters that don’t know much about the outdoors and designed to scare hunters and oudoorsmen

Putting American people thru dealing with literal monster that can be anywhere including by or in your house to kill you, your children, pets let alone those whose lively hood is livestock makes its ridiculous in the lower 48 Black bear, coyotes, Bobcats and Cougars are enough and they must be steadily thinned from being too many for their own, prey animals and humaity's sake...!

I've been told by one man that his buddy never wanted to kill bears ... so he did not pack a firearm. What he DID was pack a flare gun and its worked well every time he used it ... the burning memory likely also helped them become fearful of men the way they needed to be. [Although with cubs & mother ... or defense of a food cache ... likely it may not work to my mind ...I don't know and don't intend to try it.] A personal protection instructor once told me that in bear country a large caliber revolver was best; indicating that any necessary contact shot could have the slide jam up in the hair. Another instance I became aware of was that a revolver only requires pulling the trigger again during a misfire or dud. Practicing with a 2 shot initial rhythm would eliminate the need for expert speedy [rack, & tap procedures]

Right. That's the question for sure. No data here. I do note that we have some very wet states like Florida and Alaska. Florida however has been seriously dry in some areas. Alaska however has a temperate rainforest area in its Southern Regions and a lot of the upper areas have snow most of the time. My guess is Alaska. I don't know about Maine, but think some of those North Eastern zones can be quite wet at times. It sure would make a difference ... I prefer the idea of a chest holster holding at least a .44 mag REVOLVER and practicing with two quick rounds before pausing. As you are likely aware, in a dynamic critical incident like a bear attack one reverts to habitual training in mind and reflexes. @@pitchforkpeasant6219
