I love that you emphasize an individualized wardrobe. In the last several years I have learned not to try to conform to what everyone “needs” in their wardrobe but rather what I need in my own unique wardrobe and helps me feel most like me.

You're one of the few fashion and lifestyle youtubers that I can watch anymore; I find so many of them are so pompous, arrogant and pretentious (and, oddly enough, orange like an oompa loompa...but perhaps that's their cameras not liking their tanner?) and cover it badly with an extremely fake "sweet" persona. Your down to earth, easy-going personality is such a pleasant breath of fresh air. You seem yourself, not someone playing a part, if that makes sense. When you give opinions on minimalism, as well, I find you so non-judgemental and easy to relate to, that I've been slowly going down that road now, myself. I never feel like I'm being preached to or talked down to. The only complaint I have is I'm going through your videos and won't have as many to watch now. 😂

Loved your essentials. Some of these are my essentials (jeans, t-shirts, knit shawls because I am a knitter) and some I am looking to add (classic jewelry, white shirt). My favorite piece is my denim jacket! It’s a medium wash and what makes it so special is the interior front pockets...like men’s jackets! I especially love wearing it while traveling...great for keeping phone, earbuds etc close at hand!

Classic denim jacket is one of my favorite pieces I reach for often.

The problem for me is that I like all of these things and because I am older now I do seem to have rather a lot of silk scarves, jewelry, handbag and so on. It certainly is not a capsule wardrobe any more. I think that when you are my age you will think twice. If you want your capsule wardrobe then you will need to get rid of some of the lovely items that you have collected. How do you choose what stays and what goes ? This is such a great way to look at essentials, it’s quite liberating! My year round essentials are dark wash ankle jeans, striped 3/4 length t-shirts, lightweight blazers, ballet flats, and vintage Dooney & Bourke crossbody & satchel bags (I fell in love with them in high school and have worn them with essentially every outfit for the last decade-they are truly part of my personal style!). My essentials: White shirts, tees in white/black/navy, black/gray/navy pants, jeans, silk scarves, (❤️❤️❤️) cashmere sweaters, everyday gold hoops, chain, vintage watch and wedding band (not all at once!) - add seasonal bag , footwear and outerwear. I have a small collection of denim shirts and dresses. I’ve always been an “editor” of my closet, but your videos have helped refine that skill!

I find your way of presenting things and ideas very pleasent and love your style.

Travel wardrobe essentials: scarf for style and also to keep warm on cold flights, comfortable but stylish walking shoes that are appropriate for a meeting as well as walking from one gate to the next, travel coat that can be squeezed into tight places such as a down parka or a layering piece such as a jacket or blazer, trendy compression socks that look like dress socks that are meant to help with circulation during flights two hours or longer

My essentials are Brooks Brothers or Ralph Lauren button down shirts. Oxfords or spread collar depending on the occasion. I mentioned the designer because the cut is an essential part of what makes these one of my essentials. Also, right now riding boots in black, brown and saddle color. The ones I like are very equestrian in style. I also go for equestrian style belts and handbags. Also an essential are denim jeans of course as well as slim pants in black and a light khaki color. Scarves in wool& silk blends or cashmere. Ralph Lauren Collection makes my favorite in a large size all cashmere that are marvelous and in many colors. My favorite two are medium camel and a lighter khaki. Mostly my essentials are anything made by Ralph Lauren Collection -my favorite designer in the whole world. Long and well may you live Ralph Lauren!!!

Love your insight and your style! So glad I found your channel. I’ve tried and I want to be confident in silk scarfs but I just can’t get it out of my head that I look like an airline stewardess👩‍✈️ I also want to love a white button down shirt but I feel like I look like a waitress. Lol. I have found that I really enjoy a collarless linen shirt however and your last video really resonated with me. I realized that when I decided I wanted a more classic wardrobe I bought what I thought I should and putting it all together I felt like I was wearing a costume. This time of year is a great time to purge closets and jewelry. I recently cleared out 3/4 of my jewelry, either donating or selling higher end pieces. If I don’t wear it, I don’t want it. What a satisfying feeling.

I love sweaters too. Although I love in a mild climate with terrible heat in the summer and early fall, I have found a couple of very light, almost tissue weight sweaters along with some warmer sweaters I can wear year around. I also love color and work to find nice pieces for my casual lifestyle with beautiful colors that make me happy. My biggest challenge is to find pieces that really fit well and enable me to feel and look my best. It’s harder than it seems to find JUST the right piece and to be patient until I do find it. I find your ideas about fashion interesting and thought provoking!

I really love your emphasis of tailoring the essentials to your personal style! People always say your essentials should be blue jeans, white t-shirt and trainers, and for many years I felt I had to wear these things just because that's what everyone believes. I realised they don't actually make me happy at all and now I only wear the essentials which fit my own style, which these days are a white blouse, black mini skirt, black heels, tailored coat and pearl necklace. :)

Great video and I really appreciate your comments about personalising your wardrobe basics to make them your own. Most wardrobe basics videos extoll the virtues of the white shirt but I don’t wear white. Every time I wear white I look pale and washed out, and people ask me if I’m feeling okay all day, so it is clearly not a good look on me. I’m a jeans and T-shirt girl and I love sweaters. My other key wardrobe basic is light summer dresses. I live in Australia, so it’s really hot in summer and you need something light and loose to throw on when it in the high 30s.

Yes, definitely several white and black tops, a black skirt, lots of solid sweaters in my favorite colors. I need to get a good pair of jeans. My signature piece is head scarves, I have collected many in my favorite colors, mostly solids : )

Essentials for me are a soft, casual white tee; a pair of dark cropped pants that I can cuff for a casual look or un-cuff for a more formal look; ballet flats for a slip on option to dress up or down; a dressier sandal for summer; sweaters in every color for winter; and lots of earrings. Earrings are my go to accessory. I also played around with puffy vests last fall, and I am looking forward to exploring more styling options with them this coming Autumn.

My essential is red pieces, especially my Tango Red Vera Bradley pieces. I always get compliments on the color. I also have a few red tops, a red maxi skirt, and some red heels. They are all in a close enough shade to work together as well as on their own. In recent years red has just become my color.

My wardrobe will be complete the day I find a white tshirt that’s not transparent!

Audrey, you are so inspiring! Thank you for sharing your experience with all of us. I have a different way of thinking about this that has evolved, in part, from watching you! I love cashmere and how it feels, so I have several sweaters in different colors (grey, black, lime green, pink) that I wear with pants when it is cold. In the winter I'd rather have one great pair of black cashmere PJs than several other items for wearing at home. Because I am very short waisted, I like classic dresses with a solid or pattern through the torso but only when it is hot outside. Thus, my winter essentials (sweater and pants) and my summer essentials (dresses) are very different. I have a few gold pieces of jewelry (ring, watch and earrings) that I wear all year. I have several beautiful silk scarves that I'd love to get more wear out of but that seems to be a function of having the right place to wear them. I look forward to your video on scarves in hopes of learning more ways to wear them. In the Spring and Summer it is challenging because the silk feels to hot and in the winter I don't want to get them wet in the rain and snow. Despite loving the look of classic, buttoned up shirts, I do not like how they look on me because I am so short waisted - if you have tips on how to do that, I'd love to know the secret, because I never feel right in these traditional white shirts. My essentials would be jeans definitely, blazers (I have them in a lot of colors, shapes etc) and shirts, same as with balzers i have them in a lot of colors. Oh and hats, I just love them, the only thing that makes me happy about winter are my hats :) My style is pretty colorful and it's like you said when people see me they will say oh ofc you would wear that:)

In place of a white shirt I buy off white shorts because of my sallow- yellow tone complexion. Those people who look good in white have sanguine- rosy tone complexion. Love your videos. You seem happy and confident.

Audrey, thank you, as always for your great tips. I'm a huge fan of the white shirt and think it's so classic a look. Here in UK, the fashion writers seem to be in agreement that cream is the new white and will be big this year. I love the coffee and cream look and disagree with those who say it's too bland! My staple colours are the above, plus navy and black, with pastels in summer. I'm back to Spain in a few weeks for my holiday so it will be mainly white with some lemon or lilac, pale blue etc and delicate jewellery. To keep cool in the sun while sightseeing is the key!

I love wearing cardigans. I have short ones, hip length, and thigh length cardigans. I need to go through them and donate some as I have so many different colors. Trying to minimize my wardrobe since I'm now retired.

I love dresses, as you mentioned I can wear them with boots or sweaters in the winter or sandals in the summer! I love bohemian jewelry...those two would be my essentials and what I am known for! I also wanted to tell you I received my Sabina Savage silk scarf today! I loooooove it!

Jeans, t-shirts, camisoles and sweaters are my essentials for the entire year. Where I live the seasons run together. I would love to get into buttons down shirts but it’s hard to find a nice structured blouse to accommodate my bust without “the gap.”

Your essentials are similar to what I reach for in my closet☺️ My essential piece is the short tweed jacket (I like the boy friend blazer but it just doesn't work for my proportions), and black flats in the warmer months switching to black knee high boots in the colder months. Love this video. My staples: Different shades of gray and white short sleeve t-shirts. Gray and white tank tops. Dark blue jeans, white leather tennis shoes, black leather loafers.black and gray cardigans in various weights. And lots of scarves!!!! I wear minimal makeup but use lipstick as a color change. Reds,pinks, mauves... I do own a few other various tops and blouses in other colors,cropped pants for summer and black dress pants but my wardrobe is VERY minimal. I do have a few small pieces of jewelry, ( nothing large) Earrings and necklace, mostly in silver. My glasses I use as and accessory. I have 3 pair: tortoise shell, red, and a light turquoise and grayish pair.
