Warehouse Turned In A Unique Home & Workspace
▸ Formerly a Victorian furniture warehouse established in 1871, the building was imaginatively converted by its current owner in 2010 into a one-bedroom apartment and a large hire space used for exhibitions and events. On the ground floor is a single, large room, with a concrete floor, steel pillars, exposed ceiling joists and a staircase ascending to mezzanine-level offices. These open onto a secluded roof terrace. Double doors on the first floor lead to an open-plan living space. Among its quirks are a free-standing kitchen made from pharmaceutical cabinets, a built-in seating area with integrated bookshelves and hardwood spiral staircase, which deposits inhabitants on the mezzanine bedroom and bathroom.
