Music track played in the cinematic quest, The Sacrifice, during the Umbra scene and the Codex diorama. You know the one if you're looking for this.
Enjoy!
"It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing -- and take away its pain."
Someone had messaged me and told me the song was called "Smiles From Juran," in reference to a line said during the quest. So I've included it into the title, but kept the old one too, until we get an official name.
All rights to Digital Extremes and Keith Power (?). I own nothing and do not make money off of this video.

I dont think we are replacing his son. More in the the ways are teaching how to move past it. The choices you can make when you "get" umbra under controll. Make this memory fuel your wrath. Accept it and move beyond it… and i cant remember the 3rd option. Its about precossing grief and moving past it. Its a really good story.

It also began with Lotus asking us for forgiveness for lying to us about our true nature. Now her own true nature is revealed. I don't think we'll ever get "her" back. She won't have the same lapse twice, the other sentients would never let her. We're going to chase her beyond the damn stars only to lose her when we're about to claim her back. (That is if DE sticks to the classic hero's journey archetype)

Just imagine Excalibur Umbra somehow retrieved his Shawzin and still remembers to play "Smiles from Juran" and a cutscene in which You (Operator) can't move on or believe that the Lotus abandoned you. in the cutscene, the operator is in his/her living quarters of the ship, lonely, and crying for what Lotus did. From there, Umbra enters the room, sits besides the operator and comforts him/her with this song.

And it was not their force of will, Not their void devilry, not their alien darkness... It was something else. It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.''_ They have outdone themselves with this quest. The music is incredible, it brought me to my tears, a feat that very few games have managed to do. The Dialogue is absolutely magnificent, they must've used WEEKS to perfect that delivery.

The thing I love the most about the quest was how they showed that it was the Tenno's compassion and empathy that allowed them to succeed with the Warframes where the Orokin failed, without making it feel or sound like a cheesy Disney aesop. It was delivered just right within the tone of Warframe's lore.

@StrikeNoir105E 6 жыл бұрын
+Olivier Van Der Hoeven The majority of the Orokin's failings have pretty much been products of their own creation that turned against them due to their hubris. The Sentients, the Infestation, the Warframes, the Tenno, the Grineer.... everyone had a beef with the Orokin that created them.
@olivier5251
@olivier5251 6 жыл бұрын
Indeed. The Orokin became so arrogant and convinced about their immortality that they were dicks to pretty much everyone. The sentients wanted to protect the tau system from Orokin ravaging, the Tenno wanted to destroy them because they were awful. The warframes hated the Orokin because of the lives they ruined etc.

This quest really makes you question what the stalker actually is. A pre tenno frame like umbra (so a infested dax) ,a tenno that lost it's physical body (like rell) or a non tenno stuck inside the frame because of some failed artificial transference experiment I mean the orokin are extremely high tech and kinda fucking insane
@Legionzzzz1
@Legionzzzz1 6 жыл бұрын
Well based off of the lore we currently have in the game on the stalker we know that he's not a Tenno and that he was part of the Orokin military, some kind of guardian or honor-guard for the Orokin, he blames the Tenno for the death of the Orokin and the destruction of the Orokin Empire, that's why he hunts us. But in the grand scheme of things that's not a whole lot of info.
@shugo5130
@shugo5130 6 жыл бұрын
Legion well given the “New information it’s quite obvious that the stalker infected himself with the helminth to become like umbra, a warframe with a single burning memory, his memory of the Tenno all at once slaughtering the Orokin empire he so admired. And with that in mind he hunts us and wishes to punish us

From thinking yourself an unstoppable killing ninja robot to being a fragile human that needs to be supported to walk, then becoming human again by supporting a creature driven mad and helping it find peace. From being the single to being supported to supporting. It is compassion in its truest of forms. This is what it is to be human, and that is why this questline is so touching.

From being supported to supporting? Allow me to tell you a story. When I was new, I wanted to get the Gara Warframe, but I couldn't figure out how to get Orokin Cells. Someone taxied me to Ceres and helped me farm Cells. I asked how I could repay them; they merely said, "When you can help, help." Flash forwards to this week. I joined a newbie taking on the Deimos boss. They barely scratched the shields of the boss. I came down with Gara Prime and War, tearing through the shields and armor like they were paper, blowing away Infested like dandelions. Afterwards, I asked why the newbie was on Deimos; they answered, "For Orokin Cells." So I took them to Ceres. "When you can help, help." From being supported, to supporting.

My only complaint about the Sacrifice at all (besides how gimpy it felt to fight Umbra) was that they repaired Umbra's face in the cut scene after he was built. It would have been far more thematically apt for the repair to happen when the Operator and Umbra join together at the end of the golden hued scene.

They just wanted to live normal lives, and it was all destroyed by the Orokin. In the destruction of the Orokin Empire, Warframe and Zariman children, have basically became a family. And the Lotus, who now no longer has a purpose to serve the Orokin, made a new mission for herself to guide the Tenno. Despite the shit DE gave us, the lore is great and the story is truly worth playing. Just wish the song in my Orbiter didn't have the lame beginning music and just play this song in the video.

A perfect example of this is the Sisters of Parvos quest. Sevagoth's Shadow, in a bid to complete his final mission, calls out to you to help him. When he finally gets you on board his ship, he accidentally gets your Warframe killed. What does he do? He does exactly what he was trying to do for Sevagoth himself. He slaughtered the Corpus, cutting them to pieces, rending them apart until he has the power to restore your Warframe, sacrificing his last vestige of power in the barest of hopes that you will complete his mission. Duty unto Death, dear Shadow.

Me too lol. I realized that Umbra, not only was he in pain due to his mind being scarred by the memory of his killing of Isaah, also lacked the Operator that he needed. Think about it. He went through so much mental scarring without anyone to hold his hand. It also proves the fact that Warframes weren't just these awesome warriors we once conceived. They were still living beings that needed empathy or a connection. This is what Ballas failed to see. He thought that physical torture or experimentation could silence the Warframes, but it was the empathy provided by the Tenno. That was the cost of his arrogance... His demise.

The Operator started off as but a child, who needed the Warframes to protect themselves. The War Within showed growth of Operator, showing their own strength, that they can fight without a Warframe. The Sacrifice shows further personality growth, how the Operator matures, and rather than using Warframes as before, they make a bond with one, helping it to go past the agonizing memories it had to relive over and over.

This... probably won't happen. We will probably have to kill, lotus, the true enemy hidden all along. Who we stored so much trust in. For what she has done, she shall lead the ancient sentients, into battle. As a spawn of orikin technology, we are forced to end it, save yourself. save others. save her. But she possibly could live. and we save her from herself. But this probably won't happen. For now, all we can say is,"We miss you." But we can not stop the inevitable future. She is doomed. There is no hope for her. She has abandoned us. Truly, she sadly, long from saving. She has been like this science chains of harrow. Sadly, she is doomed to die. Rest In Peace, lotus.
@TheTriforceDragon

I doubt she will truly be coming back as well, but if she is gonna die, it will be as the Lotus, asking us to finish it before she reverts to her sentient mind again. If I were to make a guess, the final cutscene with Lotus, live or die, will feature our Tenno doing what was so long done for us, singing to them, to ease their mind. Music and song is important in the Warframe universe. It was music (Octavia) that gave the signal that started the rebellion against the Orokin, it was song that calmed the troubled minds of the Tenno and it was music that allowed 2 Cephalons and a Tenno to repel a Sentient and save a Cephalon friend. So, when the time finally comes to confront the Lotus or whatever she calls herself now, I think it will be our turn to sing to her...and make her remember who she is to us.

@Bloxerbot 6 жыл бұрын
It is not meant to be good and evil. It is simply a representation of Yin and Yang. Day and Night. The Sun option isn't necessarily the "best one". Rather it is an interpretation of the operators outlook on the world. SPOILERS: After Stabbing Ballas: Moon: "The Cycle is broken." Sun: "Squirm like the maggot you are."
@tyrant351
@tyrant351 6 жыл бұрын
Killjoy there is no good-evil. Steve specified this on Twitter. The way my friends and I broke it down was Sun: very carpe diem type. More about making your own destiny. Moon: more "que sera sera" (what will be, will be). More about following the flow of causality. This is evidenced in TWW regarding the Operator's void powers: Sun is "I hated it", indicating a refusal to accept what happened, Solstice (middle) is "I controlled it", being a "I will take what happened, and I will use it." Moon is "I embraced it", being "I take this event, and will follow the path it sets me on"

All Umbras were Dax. Would a Dax use a pair of guns? We don't know. I believe each Umbra may be of the original 8; selected or punished with the Umbra transformation procedure, with Excalibur (Prime) being the 9th meaning there's currently a chance of having only 7 other Umbras, but we'll see. Excalibur brought with him a sword; could the next bring a sidearm, or a primary? Many possibilities. Why would I say all of them were Dax? Look at Stalker's Codex. He too was a protector, but then at the ceremony, he could not speak; Umbra could not speak, either as part of their punishment, or as part of Ballas' twisted plan. Also, Stalker's current form has the same chassis as Umbra. I wonder how Stalker would react if he were to meet Umbra, beyond his near-mindless futile attempts to assassinate us in the field? On that note, what would Teshin say, when he beholds Umbra? One other thing I've come to accept is that Umbra - or any person we directly use Transference with over a period of time, is in some manner 'assimilated' or otherwise permanently mentally linked, preserved within the Void-expanded Tenno mind in a way that makes the Tenno incapable of distinguishing whether they are the Umbra's inhabitant, or themselves as alluded to when we engaged Ballas. That said, I believe Ballas is not as dead as we'd like; he is Orokin, and Orokin cannot be killed, - according to Ordan Karris, at least, - likely not without taking their soul - their Oro. That aside, I am curious as to where his executioner's blade is, as he did not take it to our engagements. Perhaps it's because of the stance being incomplete and Melee 3.0 being a work-in-progress?

You have it in codex. For Ember and Rhino. You have story about some people. At first i was confused, but then the Second Dream came out, and i was thinking that those stories were somehow directed to Tenno themselfs. Now i understand, that truth behind those long lasted stories within the game is that, they were about first warframes. The story about heroes of the orokin, turned into this monstrosities. Frames of war.

We had created monster we couldn't control. We tortured them,drugged them, eviscerated them. We brutalized their minds but it did not work. Until they came. It was not their force of will, not their void devilry, not their Alien darkness, it was something else. It was somehow, from within the derelict horror, they learned to see inside of an ugly broken thing. And take away it's pain.

I knew, I knew inside my heart the moment I took Excalibur and the frames I felt something a life inside a shell of a madman’s creation, Excalibur and the rest wasn’t a tool of war but something i knew I had a bond’s with, I knew they were something humane. How disturbing I was close to the actual truth after witnessing the frames saving there operators for the war frame’s the operators the Tenno is there only shot as salvation and end the pain, the hurt. How desperately try to understand my frames actions, how long is my kid was supposed to endure before he grew. This story is not finished, but a beginning of a storm that will shake its very foundations what it means to be a warframe and a Tenno. I just wish we know sooner of the pain, the metamorphosis the changes of There body’s. When your with your frame don’t look at him or her as a tool of war but as a ally that will be with you all way’s, hell better then what they wanted to do to them.

I can’t stop listening to this. This quest has made me feel such an immense range of emotions that in the span of 20 minutes I’ve gone from writhing around in fury, to sobbing into a pillow, and even lying down just content and happy. The music, dialogue, and lore all tie together perfectly to weave this web of a quest. I feel that I will continue to come back to this quest and this song as I proceed with my warframe experience. It is one that will definitely stay with me for years to come.

Sometimes, I can't help myself but cry when listening to this. I've been playing Warframe on-and-off for almost ten years now, and so many memories are connected to this game I can't even count. Well all Umbras will suffer that's why they are Umbras, the other normal and prime Warframes are willingly transformed and gave complete control over themselves. Anyone here played through the Mass Effect series? Paragon Shepard normally takes the calm, rational, diplomatic approach, but sometimes, something _really_ pisses him off. Like what Gavin Archer did to his brother during the events of Overlord. In every Warframe quest before this one, the Sun approach is very similar. Stay calm, try to be understanding, let compassion inform your actions. What Ballas did was so horrific and arguably unnecessary that the Sun approach was literally described as "Wrath." It was the Neutral and Moon approaches which were the calmer ones this time. I found that very interesting.

A fair point, but what stuck out to me was it _only_ seems to make sense in this particular case. It's quite the opposite in every other questline so far.

It goes back further than that. The Second Dream had the first such choice. But more than that, there are several optional quests which most of us will have played through, and they don't always make sense in the context of Yin & Yang.

Actually, I think he just wasn't expecting the Umbra warframe to be able to disobey his commands. He plainly doesn't think of the Tenno as being too principled to kill him: After all, he was present to watch them do just that to the other Orokin. (To say nothing of the fact that every player, and thus, every Tenno in the game has killed at least hundreds of sapient beings already, if not hundreds of _thousands.)_

Phoenix 731 that actually makes sense now. I went full sun in war within, (avoiding bloodshed on the Zaramin, hating the void, destroying the Kuva) but seeing the dialogue options makes me want to take neutral and moon options in this quest when it land on console. The sun choices are a bit too harsh for my taste, being that wrath and maggot dialogue

You know, I've been playing Warframe for what? Five years now. I can remember middle school, high school and training myself for a job. Every week, usually even every day. Warframe. It has been my friend, made me friends, been my passion. I've tried it, loved it, hated it and loved it again. Now, due to certain events I locked myself away from everything I liked. But I dared to play Warframe again. I remembered this track. And now Warframe is doing as the title says.

We accept the memory and move beyond its reach. We leave it in the past and look to the future so that we may reach for a brighter tomorrow. Where time is a myth and linearity a lie, where events of the future will rhyme with those of the past, we will answer with a verse of our own.
