hot off the trail of spending a pretty ridiculous amount of time in bg3, this game is actually really refreshing. i love the fast pace of character development and build variety. mostly into combat in these kinds of games and this one has it in spades while maintaining amazing character and world building. baldur's gate is not overrated but people definitely don't like when you talk about how much the dnd systems tend to be overly faithful at the expense of fun sometimes. only a handful of subclasses in baldur's gate are truly unique (gameplay wise) and it can take ages to make notable additions to your character to actually consider yourself a "build". i really enjoy how rogue trader speeds the early stages of the game up by giving you so many options in one archetype alone.

Agreed. The level cap of 12 in BG3 was probably my only complain. But it's a huge complaint to be sure.

Coming off BG3 it’s making me realize how much I loved/love BG3. Aspects of RT feel dated in comparison: more sparse VA, lack of facial animations, relative lack of environmental interactivity, etc. That said, this still probably breaks into my top 5 CRPGs of all time. Love the setting, writing, character customization, and rules/flow of combat. Rogue Trader feels distinct in its own way and I like it a ton…I say all of this after only completing Act 1.

It's hard going from bg3 to any other game like it. Bc bg3 done such an amazing job. Really is the AAA vision we'd never had before 🖖

Thank you for doing a console review. I only heard from a couple of people who played this on console and one guy said it was unplayable and gave me a terrible impression. Pretty much made it seem really really bad. Happy to see that is not the case. Wish more people gave us the console perspective as there can be a big time difference in quality with a cRPG depending on how the controls work and how the game runs.

I'm having run with this (I played several campaign's in the Rogue Trader tabletop game so I had ideas for my path going in) I'm disappointed that the base game only includes one ship choice though. I bought the deluxe edition so I had two Frigate classes to choose from but I think there should have been two or three Frigate classes to choose from in the base game. Say a Havoc, Sword (The current base game ship) and a Tempest or a Turbulent for the base game leaving the Firestorm and Falchion for bonus items.

I think they are pretty standard if you've played these on console before. Isn't the best. But works fine. The more you play the easier it gets 🖖

@@jamiehail5974 I made a new character, a crime lord soldier, and he's wrecking everything (I play on Daring). Haven't find the techie yet but, yeah, Abelard is probably the most useful unit in my team right now. Thanks for the replie, BTW.

Not having overwatch and counters slows the combats pace to a crawl for me, still liking it, though, but compared to shooty games in this genre, its a bit dated. Overwatch would have made the combat pacing perfect, especially with the volume of combat.

It doesn’t have overwatch but the combat system is build on top of huge AoE attacks and action point stacking, right from the beginning of the game. From my experience with the game so far it clearly makes for it and speeds up combat compared to XCOM for example, which is a game focused on single target actions, even on those Lost missions.

iam not big crpg fan but iam avid w40k fan for many many years and this was must pick for me. Getting slowly through the mechanics. Details for lore and vibe of rogue traders and whole warhammer is totally on point. Story seems amazing. Feels like this game help me to survive whole year before Space marine 2 is released.

Wasteland 3 I think is the best intro game..has great lighthearted humor with less reading and easier systems to get down. I have not played this one yet but I did just buy it and just created my first character. Divinity original sin 2 as well as Baldurs Gate 3 are also amazing obviously but bg3 has a dice roll system you might not like but a very in depth amazing story. Divinity original sin 2’s gameplay is a bit harder than bg 3 and wasteland 3 but is still phenomenal with plenty of KZfaq help videos and walkthroughs.

I know you can play cooperative on PC, but consoles say it is single player. So I ask, can we only play single player on consoles?

The developers said co-op won't be avaible for consoles at release. But they said they plan on doing it.

Probably? It supports gamepads on PC, so maybe the other way around too...

@@assassindelasaucisse.4039 That's not really how it works. I have singleplayer 1'st person shooters on the xbox that doesn't support keyboard and mouse. Need specific information that it works

I’m going to play on my controller on pc… I can’t stand clicking on a spot and watching my characters run there. I’d rather control their movement manually when they are running around out of combat.
