A Warhammer 40k dive into the machinations of the warp. At the precipice of the Dawn of the Great Rift, and with it Roboute Guilliman's return, the Dark Angels Librarian Harahel undertakes a perilous journey through the warp that endangers his very soul in a bid to see what will become of the world of Ulthor. However, in seeking the Fallen, he learns of what may come in anticipation of Abaddon's 13th Black Crusade.

Every now and again you get a description of what the astronomicon feels like to psykers or navigators, and it's always hauntingly beautiful. It makes you understand how easy it would be to worship The Emperor when his power is so tangible.

Hauntingly beautiful; well put. I appreciate how it shows a stark juxtaposition of the immaterium and physical world. It seems like we normally hear about the void and it's forces only.

I think the main reason I would prefer to be in the Warhammer 40K universe than this one is not because it is somehow better or easier, it's hardly so, but rather, the evils of that world are so apparent and forward that opposing it is actually rather obvious as well. Yes your own side has its insidiousness but that insidiousness is so bound down upon by the mechanics of the evil of this universe that you cannot be too insidious without just becoming straight-out enemy for long. In our world, although there are, at times, obvious evils like through Hitler, many evils are actually far more insidious and those insidious evils are far better able to entrench themselves in positions where to fight them physically is folly, instead corruption is so much smoother and easier and over time there can be permeating and terribly well connected evils that cannot be removed without doing evil, and which cannot be regarded except through becoming evil. It would be better instead if the honesty of heroism or evil were as straight-forward as there because then to be a good person would be easier, just fight until you die and die well. Here? Evil people twist the good into evil and evil into good and rotate memes and control methods and integrate together, protecting eachother. Whereas the means to stop them are slowly gamed to prevent those ends. The virtue of the warp, compared to reality, is that it tracks you over time and turns you into the monster you are when you are monstrous enough, and once that happens it's very hard to pretend you're not a monster when you are. Some can do it but only as part of a temporary subversion as Chaos ultimately overwhelms you and twists you no matter what. Some young corrupted official will inevitably become the twisted monster even if they are not yet already. At best we do it in our fiction, but that is usually just a propaganda and since it is, it's used as much by the monsters as much as by the heroes and so creates the same ambiguity which the universality of means allows here. You can still do terrible evils in the Imperium, like planetary exterminatus, but at least your reasons have to be pure -enough- such that you are doing it like one amputates a limb, not because mindless slaughter is permitted, but because destroying Chaos is necessary. Whereas just slaughtering for power makes you Khornate in the end. Here? You can be a total daemon prince, and rule your whole life and if you are clever enough it is never known, or even accepted. Here, the ambiguities between truth and lie, between justice and injustice, motive and hidden agenda, good and evil are all so permissible universally that trust is primarily a function of ignorance. And what can you do about it? Besides join in on the corruption in order to uproot it and in doing so, become everything you aspire to resist. But I guess reality is a lot less painful than the 40K universe so that's cool.

@@themesongfan2 But they aren't completely immortal. Several of the big name ones die throughout the Heresy and it sounds like there weren't many to begin with. I'm not completely discounting the possibility by any means but I haven't heard about any current timeline perpetuals at all.

This just goes to show why the Emperor didn’t want people to use the warp! That shit is corrupting beyond belief. Like the dark god’s thoughts and ambitions have always been your own. How do u fight against that? (Being a grey knight of course, but still. Shit sucks lol)

LoL wut? Buddy you read things like WinNarrator XD either you use AI or some strange audio edit that feels like each word is a separate "chop" of audio. If you do not use Ai then take it as you will but to my ears there is something off. It just does not feel "genuine" or human - and it could (peace)@@WyvernAudio
