Warhammer 40k Keywords, Universal Special Rules & Weapon Abilities Explained || 10th Edition

With 10th Edition Warhammer 40K Keywords were introduced in order to simplify what special rules and stratagems can target them. This has helped simplify 10th edition, especially with the introduction of Universal Special Rules, Core Abilities and Weapon Abilities. These are often mistaken for Weapon Keywords.
In this video I explain what every 10th Edition Warhammer 40k Keyword is, the Core Abilties and all of the Weapon Keywords/Abiltites to enable you to understand how these all work and help you in your next games!
I honestly think the introduction of Keywords for 40k was a great idea for the game and one I think has made life a lot easier!

I’m glad to see you enjoyed the video - thank you for the comment. In regards to cover, typically it’s mainly down to line of sight of seeing the entire unit, or whether you are touching/wholly within the terrain feature (like ruins or craters for example). It’s certainly a lot easier to receive the benefit of cover than previous editions, that’s for sure. It’s thankfully a lot simpler than last edition, but the next rules based video I do will be on this topic to help out. But you’ll be able to find all of the terrain rules on pages 44-48 in the core rules (either the book or the downloads section of the Warhammer community website which a link is in the video description for )

One thing I cant find anywhere. A good description of how keywords interact if a leader joins a unit. Do both get both sets of keywords??

Sorry I should have put this into the video, but for clarity they do get all of the keywords when a character joins a unit. So for example if you attach a Librarian to a unit, that unit now has the Psyker keyword making [anti-psyker] weapons now work against the entire unit. There is some information about this in the rules commentary on the 40K downloads page on Warhammer community if you wanted some more clarification. Hope that helps 👍

THANK YOU!!!! Every single other video ive seen that tries to teach you how to play without fail always play for you to watch and they always just say a certain unit has a keyword and they no ever ever tell you what the keyword means. It's infuriating trying to learn how to play when they just say a unit has some keyword and then just assume you know what it means. Also never explain how your commanders change your armies' attributes. Never once have i seen one that explains the differences of moving and advancing. Always tell you to draw cards for your objective but never tell explain what you're suppose to do or when points are awarded. Never explain when you earn CPs. What conditions need to be met when trying to hold or take an objective. They are absolutely worthless tutorials without explaining this stuff. I was on the verge of just never learning to play and stick to painting. Thank you.

If you go to the warhammer community website under the warhammer 40,000 downloads section there should be a quick reference guide which has them all on.

The Feel No Pain description you gave is wrong. You don't need to get over the value of X. It's enough to get equal to it. A 6+ doesn't need a 7 on a D6 for example, so it's actually useful. Great video though
