They’re like those jocks in highschool who are actually kinda smart, get along with everyone, excellent at whatever sport they play, and always have a really hot girlfriend/boyfriend. Good people but difficult to be really close to because they’re just THAT successful.

@@WASDLeftClick I don't hate _you,_ Ultramarine. I hate what you make me think of _me._ It's basically the answer Lex Luthor gave to Superman to the question why so many humans would not be especially fond of meta-humans. Because they are so much better that you and me, without any effort. A human might try as hard as he can for all his life and might not achieve even a fraction of what a meta-human might achieve in seconds and without any effort (and then gets celebrated for it) - so why even try? And that even the seemingly nicest meta-human has the very real potential to do the most atrocious things to us normal human beings, while we would be completely unable to defend ourselfes and the ones we love and without any negative repercussions, is not exactly helpful as well. When Horus got injured and his Astartes trampled dozens of civilians to death without giving a fuck and without any remorse or feelings of guilt, this line got crossed for the first time and since then, even loyalist Astartes keep violating and abusing normies all the time and most of them look down to us anyway. The tragic irony is that the Ultrasmurfs actually are amongst the nicest Legions, but they are so damn 'space-mariny' that the just remember everyone at the fact that they are just sooo damn better, stronger and more dangerous than you and me.

@@Furzkampfbomber Bear in mind that the most dangerous thing about Meta-humans is that they're still human. Which means that power often has a dangerous impact on them. Even the best Meta-Human would always be tempted to look at ordinary people as beneath them. Also, I find that the only people who get truly jealous of highly naturally skilled people just have the wrong mindset. In the end someone else will always be more skilled, be better looking or be smarter. The best mindset is to remember that the only competition which matters is the competition with yourself

@@AeneasGemini Very true. Any meta-human or Astardes for that matter is more like a magnification of a normal human being, in the good and in the bad. Which of course makes any corruption far more dangerous. I would just not agree with your notion that the only competition that matters is the competition with yourself. Of course you do have a good point here, but imagine that you are a citizen of the Empire. Changes are good that you will be a slave and or live a very short and unappreciated life full of hardship, sickness and incredibly hard work. How do you compete with yourself under such conditions? How would you better yourself when you barely find the time to force down your tasty Soilent Green and then drop into your bunk dead tired after a 16 hours shift? And then the Empire, all the ecclesiarchy with all their priests, every official, every marsian toasterboy is not only still looking down at you, but they will constantly tell you that you are worthless, that you must work harder, that your life means nothing... unlike the lifes of the _Astardes,_ that is. Now _those_ are good examples of great and valuable members of the Empire! _Those_ are heros! _You_ on the other hand are scum and in case an Astardes in a hurry trambles down your wife and children, well, serves you right, scum, for being so inconsiderate to leave a 5-year old in the path of a hurried Empire Poster Boy!

The Legion of Aeonid Thiel. The Astartes officer that ran theoretical of Legionaries fighting other Legionaries. Founder and Leader of the Red Marked. First Captain of the 2nd Company of the Ultramarines Chapter. And a good friend to the Primarch himself. Also given to understand. He helped improve and developed the Codex Astartes Doctrines of the Chapters today. If that's to be believed.

The Greco-Roman influence is strong with these boys. Especially Sparta. Only the strong survive, weak infants are killed by exposure- famous Spartan practise "Come back with your shield or on it"- phrase said by Spartan mothers to their sons off to war according to Plutarch the story of the guy on the bridge reminds me off horatius, a famous roman hero.

One thing I love about the ultra marines is the blend of Roman and Greek themes combing the two together creates a very proud and honorable group of space marines and even with all the shit they get I still love them. Amazing video as always Prince can’t wait for the next one!

Thanks for doing justice to my favourite chapter. In a sense I’ve always viewed the ultramarines as underdogs only because they are one of the hardest chapters to get people to respect and see past the legacy of 5th edition lore. They don’t have the most exciting lore or most interesting personality as an army but they are cooler than most give them credit for.

Even though the UltraMarines are the posterboys of 40K, they get shit on a lot. I always tell people that hate the UltraMarines(and Guilliman for that matter) that, if it wasn't for them, they won't be able to make their own chapters. To go even further, without the UltraMarines, there won't be any 40K.

That’s a bold and flawed statement seeing as how they were 4th or 5th choice compared to the Dark Angels and Blood Angels or the Crimson Fists for that matter. They became the poster child when the Tyranids hit the scene. But back in the Rouge Trader days (I’m old) they were a footnote

I don't feel that the Ultramarines are in any way generic. They are pretty serious fighting force and to be reckoned with. They do so very conventionally I think is the problem with most individuals and their approach towards the chapter. However, the Ultramarines are very versatile and quite effective and not easily duped.

I have a theory. Guilliman is a perpetual now. It was mentioned several times that a man can become a perpetual after being resurrected That is what Cowl did. Guilliman truly died and was brought back, hence he must be immortal now.

Like the Minotaurs chapter? They are completely based of Greece/Sparta. Their armor is bronze in color, they have Greek names, even their chapter name, Minotaurs. Unknown founding and Legion, so you could just say they are an Ultramarine Chapter cause nobody knows. In the tabletop game, their special tactic is bonuses when fighting other Space Marines. Which, due to the popularity of Marines, means they usually do well.

I assume that the historical lore for the Ultramarines is pre-8th edition? The history is quite different from the Horus Heresy series and current codex.

Her u wachin wh agaiiin yh bud ya know sardines her the fish me yhea well iff u think about it sardines are like pigeons of the sea. she reckons sea gulls but I explained that there a gull and as a bird with a large genus from blackhead to albatross there more likely to live in rubbish tips than open sea nowadays this is the conversations u end up having in lockdown she said well sardines are in tins so they ain't in the sea either so we had to stop the video then Google is a sardine a fish wtf did she think they were chunks of cat food ffs 🐠🤔 I think she just thinks fish come from shops and if tuna are so big why tf do we only get tiny weeny tins of them

He did have a plan to deal with the superhuman son. The Illyrians. He was betting on them defeating him or at the very least occupying Guilliman long enough for Gallan to consolidate power. When it comes to the citizenry if you can seize power in a way that is brutal and quick enough you don't typically have too many problems. People don't always rise up. You can see that in real life.
