I saw this interview where he said for the Mario Galaxy games "I show up and the first day we read the script in it's entirety and next day we record" And im like... Mario Galaxy has no script. Infact does Mario even actually talk in games? I can't remember a Mario game with actual dialogue from Mario.

*Fun Fact* : before waluigi was created the folks at Nintendo were considering an evil princess peach called WaruPeach; but it was too strange and bland that they replaced her with waluigi in concept. However despite this, there are still remnants of that concept alive in the wario land series through "Captain Syrup" who not only looks a lot like princess peach/pauline, but her personality and love for gold is very much a waru-like design.

@Wako Doodle Yeah, I don't get why it was walu instead of waru, I guess maybe it sounds better? I'm glad they didn't go through with the concept though. I feel like any more "warui" characters would be a little ridiculous, like is there a bizzaro version of every character in the Mushroom Kingdom then? I also like that Wario and Waluigi aren't related, They're just two separate evil guys that met one day and there's no explanation as to why Waluigi is an Anti-Luigi. Like why Luigi of all characters to be your sworn enemy? He just showed up for tennis one day. I like Wario and Waluigi, they're cool.

It still is. It's not like he is never voicing Mario again. He's still voicing him in the games, it's just the movie that he will be absent (outside of the cameo). And let's be real here. As iconic as his voices is and everyone loves it, 2 hours of Charles' Mario voice would get annoying.

I was just starting to get into it when the video ended :[ Since his Wario sounded more like Wario World here, I wonder if having the character's vocal register lowered for Smash Bros. was a voice direction thing, because the difference is something like a quarter of an octave

Waluigi is self-pitying I wouldn't have actually picked that up if he hadn't said it, but it's real, it's there, that's what makes Waluigi different to the other three. Martinet will be looked to by voice actors for decades after his death to understand characters
