My favorite combo in this video is actually the bonus example with the 1073! That said, between the 47 and the 67, I really like the 47! Idk why, i've just never really liked the sound of a 67 from my experience. My engineering student uses the Neumann u67 at the studio she works at, and i've used it once on a project as well. I've never been impressed. The 47 and the bonus example is where it's at!! Great job Warm and awesome vid Warren!

I just bought a 47 a few weeks ago Running into a WA73 then WA76 into my DAW, I've used it mostly as a drum room mic with fantastic results, and now have started tracking vox. Also sound pretty impressive imo.

I’m gonna get the 47 eventually. It be should be excellent and good enough to sound top notch pro if you got the right recording skills.

Warren bringing the sensible advice and fair comparisons as always. Thank you! Would I be happy using many different WA products in my small project studio? Yes! I think most of their gear has enough of a balanced and useful audio bandwidth for a producer to quickly shape sound in very tasteful ways when necessary. It’s hard to go cheaper and get similar results!

That Red 1 is exactly why I love Focusrite!!!! Clean and full. Leaves room for lots of color choices in compression, EQ, or other tools.

Yeah it’s definitely a sleeper. To me next to the 1073 it’s one of the best. Really hard to find in the used market. Thanks for watching

@@WarrenHenry Yup the closest I have to them right now is the Red4Pre and MP8R. Bucket list for me is a few original ISA 110.

Just got a WA47 - and guess what? It sounds like a '47! I'm a happy bunny ;-). I've been trying it with the BL73 into an old dbx163x - which I also got on Warren's solid advice, a couple years back

I'm not gonna lie. That Neve 1073 sounds amazing. I own the Warm Audio WA73-EQ and though I love my unit I think I'm going to get the Neve 1073 SPX. Great video as always!
@WarrenHenry
@WarrenHenry 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the 1073 has a bit more of a “mid forward” sound. The Neve SPX is a great sounding unit as well. Thanks for watching ✌🏾🙏🏾

Very nice video and thanks for doing that!. One question though... Why in the sound examples of the wa-67 you lowered the tonality of the singer? This makes the comparison with the wa-47 unusable.

Surprisingly, it took care of the harsh "T's" that the other preamps had. Perhaps he was singing too close to the mic, no pop filter? Not sure, but the Red was the smoothest sounding preamp. Those mics are wonderful, but something was going on with those T's.

Hi, I own this mic and all I can say is WOW! Incredible mic!! Love it! Use it for VO mainly. I also have: Wa-2a Wa-76 Eqp-wa Tb12 tone beast Just missing the WA273-EQ. Love your channel!! Do you think adding this would be beneficial for my setup? Also, what you do think about the heritage audio ha73eqx2 vs the Warm Audio wa273-eq? Thank you!

Hi Warren, a massive thank you for these videos :)) This video is perfect for me as I'm trying to decide between these 2 mics. I'm a cello player and record a lot of cello and violin , would you say the WA_67 is better for this? I feel it has the lows of the 47 but also the highs of the 87 also. I think I prefer the lows on then 47, so could I not just eq the 47 to boost the highs and then that would be the best of both worlds?
@WarrenHenry
@WarrenHenry 3 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for your question. I would prefer using the ‘67 for strings because of the darker tone. I personally prefer to not use much EQ in post. Therefore I rely on the frequency response curve of the mic to give me what I’m looking for. If you’re concerned about it being too dark you could always add a bit more eq to the mids on the way in. Like I said in the video, if I could only choose one then it would be the ‘67. Thanks for watching 🙏🏾✌🏾

Great vocals man, like a warm blanket. What style mic pre would you suggest to pair with the WA-47 for a crooner type male baritone that can comfortably hit some bass notes? LA2A or API style or the Neve 1073B you used?
@WarrenHenry

Thanks for watching if you want a clean transparent sound API. Neve preamps give a bit more bottom end girth. Thanks for watching✌🏽

I would never stick to just one brand. I do have warm mics, but I record metal and punk bands, the shure sm57 is a vital mic in my locker. I have 6 of them. I also record drums, so I have shure beta52s for the kick or kicks if double bass kit. I also have audix tom mics (dynamics) and lewitt condenser mics, 440 pure and stereo over heads. I like warm mics, bug doing what I do requires a diverse arsenal. I live warm products though. I also have 2 of their parametric eqs and their bus condenser. None the less, they all use the same transformers, so ya gotta mix it up a bit.

what tube mic would u recommend for singing, screamin and rap vocals? i was thinking maybe the wa 67. the self noise on the 67 is 17db compared to the wa47 which is 11db. does it even make a difference? or any way i can lower it or maybe wait for a new version that actually LOOKS LIKE A 67?!? warm audio also have a sony 800 clone but idk like how it looks 😂 but maybe its better for singing and screamin??? awesome video n love how in depth it is even mentionin the cases!
@WarrenHenry
@WarrenHenry 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. When it comes to tube mics and singing I like the 47. The 67 with a bit of eq can be a great all around microphone. When talking about self noise it's important to consider the source you are about to record. For instance a solo Cello that is playing a passage that has dynamics that range from very soft to moderately loud will benefit from a mic with a lower self noise. The reason being at those quiet moments of the music you don't need the electronics noise of the mic adding to the ambiet noise. In your case I'd try a 67 or maybe give the WA-87 a chance as well. Both are great mics. Thanks for watching

First, giving due respect to you Rabbi I thank you for watching. Also, it's nothing that you are doing wrong. That is the character of the WA-67. A bit less colorful than most of the Warm Audio vocal microphones. If you want something a bit more flattering I'd try the WA-47 or maybe the WA-87. Thanks again for watching and have a blessed Passover🙏🏽
