Another excellent video, thanks! So many of those suction tees are piped wrong, the one you see in this vid is bullheading where it should be one suction straight through and the other coming in at 90 degrees The old Carrier and Trane piping manuals from 60’s and 70’s advise against this Probably why the compressor oil level was low, poor oil return from that tee, oil logging in the evaps, even with the suction trap which was downstream of the tee
@HVACRSurvival
@HVACRSurvival 4 ай бұрын
The leak lost a lot of oil in the condenser. I thought the Bull tee made sure it was more equal at lest on the liquid vs strait tees? Suction I can see that though
@19thcenturyfuture
@19thcenturyfuture 4 ай бұрын
@@HVACRSurvival From the vid you could def see the oil outside 👍🏻 Exactly, on the liquid you want a bull tee for equal distribution and equal length to each evap as well Suction is opposite to prevent gas turbulence, pulsing, pressure drop, poor oil return, etc Respect for the channel, enjoy your work, looking forward to more supermarket fun!

Now for us fancy folks who can't find a rosebud anywhere , would you advise heating up one capillary at a time with a low flame , or maxing out the capacity of the b*tch @ss tip I have and tryna keep up the heat at the base let's say one side at a time ? Cheers Rick , brilliant job again 👍
@HVACRSurvival

Number 3 or 2 will work. Brass is a hog for heat so put it mainly there and slightly on the copper once it flows smooth. I also stopped refluxed twice when I did this. The video was a hour long. I was thinking of uploading full length videos for the members as an extra. 🙂 not sure if that would be a selling point or not

What I don't understand is why you didn't keep the tx valve cool why you were welding the inlet distributor?
@HVACRSurvival
@HVACRSurvival Ай бұрын
@@briansmith6135 because it was about 6 inches higher than the Txv valve and heat rises. It don’t usually drop much. Not to mention if you keep the body so cool that it doesn’t allow the brass to heat up you’re gonna be on that body for even a longer duration of time, if you look at any of the manuals, they say use enough heat, get on and get off of the valve don’t dink around all day. And that’s what usually happens when you wrap Txv, generally I’ll take the Txv apart and do it body only without the sensitive components.

Why in God's name does such a box need 2 evaporator coils with 5 fans each?? Just installed a new WI factory speced with just a single fan evaporator, same size fan as these 10 are for an 8 x 13x 8' high inside of box designed to maintain 36° that we, given our choice of 448A or 449A we go with the more popular by our supply houses for the slightly cheaper 449a. Seeing 10 fans/ 2 coils. I think always way way over kill for such display cases even a door is opened on every 5 seconds. What do you guys think? Of one coil became completely shot. I would cut it out and see what one coil with 5 fans on it will do for such a box

Yeah..toughest part of job is sometimes just figuring out the correct unit to be working on. Like a 5 story building with 60 AC condensing units on the roof with almost none of them labeled as to what inside unit they belong to!

I have drive in warehouse refrigeration I service. The same people design that did this job so I’m sure it’s more about the shape of the box and the glass doors that are a poor insulator.
