Everything is warm and toasty except for your hands, and prior experience has taught you that thick gloves cause rapid fatigue in your forearms. One of the most challenging issues when windsurfing in cold weather is keeping you hands warm. You want to maintain as much possible contact with the boom, but you also want to avoid having your fingers go numb or become painful.
