Gotta love Huf’s mindset. Some of the chatter around him in the media this offseason has been a little strange imo. I don’t know if it’s just because he’s going to be a free agent after the season and there’s some kind of negotiating gamesmanship going on or if there are issues that we’re just not privy to, but one gets the sense that some of the decision makers are down on Huff. And maybe that’s the media creating some unnecessary drama to drive engagement, but maybe not. Of course they drafted the talented kid out of Wake, which I thought was one of the better picks we made, but how much of that decision was driven by a worry that they won’t be able to re-sign Huf and how much of it is an indication that they’re less happy with how he played last season than the fans and media are. And then there’s the factor that maybe there’s some real skepticism that a guy who already wasn’t the fastest, most athletic player to begin with will be able to at least be able to return to his previous athletic level this season. I don’t know. Just think the conversation was a little surprising when you compare it to the way the team was talking about Huf last year at this time.
