Thank you Father for your very strong message about growing in the scriptures . You had tried your best when you were at St..Stephens to start a Bible Class. Many who did not get it in their parish didn't mind travelling from Andheri , Malad n Borivili but account of your failing health it had to be discontinued ..Few thirst for it n seek to know the word of God but since at different parish level it depends . If it is more of an activity based parish than recollection, Bible class , etc get a back seat . We wish every priest had been very stern with us like just like how u insisted your parishoners to carry the Bible while coming for mass. Unfortunately most are become man pleasers

I’m very blessed to have Parish Bible study throughout the year in St Marys Dubai. Praise God and I can attend it online even when I’m on holidays. The study of the Bible (through our parishes) is a must daily food for all.

Thank you Fr. Warner, I agree many of the us don’t know scriptures. All we do in church and know well is recite the Rosary(of course we have to, don’t get me wrong)but beyond that the laity know nothing. It’s only when you join a Charismatic prayer group, you get some knowledge of scripture. I hope Bible classes are encouraged in every church. Thank you also for giving us a Blessing every day, at the of your talk. So important to me.

Thanks Rev Fr. I regularly follow your teachings. I thank God for the opportunity that we have theslogates in some dioceses in Sri Lanka teaching scripture for laity in native languages. 4 years part time affiliated to Urban University in Rome. The idea is for the laity to get engage properly in catechesis and liturgy assoting the Parish Priests who are overwhelmied with work. That course was the greatest blessing in my life imparting Christian formation which was the objective more than disseminating knowledge. There are many short courses in particular aspects as well. I shared to give an idea for you to make a case for starting such a program. May God bless you

In Goa as a member of Missionary Famalies of Christ we follow lectio devina for daily readings and Liturgical Bible Study for Sunday readings . We have tried to get the parish community to accept and practice but most people don't have time. They will follow for a while and then break away

Fr today you spoke about the lack of bible study which is not being addressed. I've been listening to a podcast that provides me with a full understanding of scripture and what I enjoy most is the knowledge of why Jesus said what he said to his disciples, followers, pharasies etc. also the last supper and Jesus last words on the cross. Such a wealth of knowledge there that helps me understand our redeemer. Only problem is that this podcast is not catholic but very sound and authentic. Our young people are not coming to church because they did not get anything from catechism and that's another area where we need to hook them young. Increase their IQ of our rich catholic faith. Totally agree every parish in India or any other country need the bible knowledge but sadly priests are time poor this is a state even here in Australia. Thanks to covid there is now plenty of online lessons by people over the world however I always struggle to gain authenticity n interpretation skills😢

Bible classes are conducted in parishes - my response to this is that the pulse is more vibrant when a priest teaches the scripture than when lay persons who have been certified to teach after doing the course - The Ministry of the Word. There are several courses that enhance our understanding of the faith, unfortunately access to information about these courses is scant

Dear Fr Warner, I agree with you that every parish needs a Bible study class. But realistically not all parishes have enough priests to do this. As you read in the comments, in some churches, Bible study classes are taught by laity who have done professional courses in Goregaon. Father we have a Bible class in Our Lady of Fatima Church Vidyavihar West every Mondays from 7.30 pm to 8.45pm taught by Laity who have done the MOW from Goregaon seminary. We are grateful to our Teachers
