My best friend-no, he was my brother-died earlier this year. It came out of nowhere, but also it didn’t. The two of us made a habit of dancing right out there on the edge, looking for those limit experiences, those outpourings of emotion, those wild moments of ineffable joy on a late night with blurry eyes. Anyways. He really loved Against Me!. We used to sing at the top of our lungs. Thrash Unreal was probably our biggest go-to, alongside Cavalier Eternal. But somehow, whenever I put on this song, it cuts me harder than almost anything. It just reminds me overwhelmingly of being up late driving with Ralph with the windows down and the radio way too loud as we screamed together into the void.

I can't begin to describe how grateful I am for this band. I am in the darkest and lowest point in my life so far. This woman's words and the incredible music backing it give me one small sliver of hope. That maybe just maybe one day shit will be okay.

I had a long distance relationship for a short time from end of 2021 till mid 2022. I live in Iowa, he lived in North Carolina.. he came to me twice and stayed a good length of time each visit... Come to find out we kinda needed to go different directions in life, and that was that .. anyway we always said this was our song. We felt every word said in this. It was a feeling I couldn't explain, when we would sit and listen to it .. we lost touch of each other. Then January 17th 2023. The world took him from me... He died, going to his mother's house that was on fire, and he was going in to rescue her. He suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns. He was on live support a few days, then was taken off and died on that cold January day. I Miss him everyday. And just wanted to share this story here, because this was one of our songs.. One of the first Against Me! songs i ever heard. a few years later and i now have them all (and i mean all) on my ipod and listen to them for hours every day. even flew from nothern canada to see them open for the cult in L.A. When i first found out about Laura i couldnt sleep for days. they went from my favourite band to my heros. not transgender or even gay myself but Laura inspires me to just be who i am and the rest of the band inspire me to stick by my friends no matter what.

A.M. l this will never get old to me. back before they got Bigger e and my x wife followed them around and I'll tell you what, I still get goosebumps when I hear them. it broke ,y heart when Warren left, still not sure what exactly happened there, but he was my idol. every single second of every single show, he was grinning like a kid, so happy to be playing the music. and the energy of the whole band... pumped through the roof and you never slept after a show. I got lucky the first time I saw them, it was at the Otto bar in Baltimore md and I had gone to see the bouncing souls. there were 2 or 3 other bands playing, but one cancelled. they said they got this random band to fill in and here comes this dude in a blonde wig. as soon as I heard the first choords, I was hooked on against me. honestly, I enjoyed them more than the souls, and for me that says alot, cause I had been a fan boy of the souls who would sing along forever. hell they are the reason I made an almost 300 mile drive to see a band in a random little hole in the ghetto in Baltimore. ok I'll stop reliving memories now. lol. tom gabel/ laura Jane grace, I fuckin love you!!!?

We grew apart, he became an alcoholic and Im addicted to fentynal.. There used to be three of us, up until my first love - my brother's best friend killed himself. This song saved us three.
