People don't realize how hard boats slap water. My mom's friend was boating on a LAKE when they smacked a wave, upon landing the boat thrust up into her with enough force to break her spine. A year later she can only stand for 5 minutes. As a captain you have to know what you're doing

Watching 20 min of these outstanding videos has legitimately taught me a lot more about driving a boat than 38 years of going to the lake for summer vacation with aunts and uncles who own a fiberglass lake/ski boat (maybe a Sea Ray?). I also realize now how little anyone ever taught me. All those aunts and uncles and nobody ever felt like teaching me anything? I love to teach.. But now I can understand why my aunt would randomly ask me to move back from the bow of the boat sometimes. Thanks a lot for sharing this, you deserve an award for the smooth panned tripod 4K 60 FPS UHD + drone footage and top notch straight-to-the-point editing! 👏🏼

YES! Life jacket saved me twice while white water rafting in the Andes and even then it was pretty close. In these conditions with strong currents and standing waves you'll be sucked through, the life jacket makes the difference between an unfortunate swim and fighting for your life in the water. And that's a fight you might lose.

@@julesy321 each inlet entrance would be different, depth, design and wind direction. People just need to do there home work on each inlet. With most inlets, it's the water running out of the inlet, bigger the tide more moving water and this against an onshore wind creates this wave action. If you can move out of this tidal stream, as here to the north if the depth hallows, far safer.

@KWW0321
@KWW0321 Жыл бұрын
@@RichardEnglander Yeah it gets tricky due to the force of the flow. If you power down to try and ride down the back side of a wave you run the risk of being caught in the flow while not being under power. The least ideal situation would be trying to recover from that momentary loss of control in the transition zone of the inlet so some people overcompensate by just going to full power which can get rather rough in a smaller boat as seen in so many of these videos! Usually there are atleast a few people on seadoos near the exit which work great as indicators for what the inlet is doing.
@RichardEnglander
@RichardEnglander Жыл бұрын
@@KWW0321 ah interesting Could do with a gearbox that let you throw straight into and back out of neutral when you kept the engine revs up, it would be quite a kick through whatever drive train, but would mean that power could come back on super quick.
