I purchased 4 Ibanez Gio GRX70Q's for a music classroom in 2021. All of them are broken. They are an excellent guitar for the money, but I have found that they break without being mindful and taking care of the electronics.

Awesome, glad to hear it. They look and feel great. Just be careful not to over crank on those knobs

I have fixed the wiring and did a setup on all 4. They are playing great, a student brakes one again :P

Your problem is the set nut under the knob. Pull the knob off, find a wrench that fits the nut, tighten it down while holding the pot stem straight so that it does not spin when you tighten the nut. Then put your knob back on and that'll stop those from spinning and breaking away from the connections.🤘🏻 ⚡Keep Rockin⚡

What would you recomend between GRX70QA, GSA60 or the GRG140 in terms of sound, versatility and overall quality? Or if you could recomend me a guitar that check the boxes that i mentioned above but it got to be max 250-300 dollars
@UnlimitedPotentialMusic
@UnlimitedPotentialMusic Жыл бұрын
GRG140 but for longevity and style. All three on par with reliability/durability, but that's just from my reading and not from hands-on experience.

Usually the volume or tone pots will move because the lock washer is missing or put in the wrong place on the pot shaft. If the lock washer is installed properly, the pots should not move that easily.

this video made me scared to buy the GRX70QA. Do you think I should still consider buying the guitar?

I got myself GRX70QAL-TBB (the left handed model) and I had no issues with anything, I don't know how your guitar got so many issues man

Awesome, that's good to hear. I have students learning on them, and they crank on the hardware, which breaks them :P

@@UnlimitedPotentialMusic That's also a good thing because you gotta break things to know how they work sometimes, personal experience is golden, I am learning guitar by myself and i have learned so much things about repairing wiring and stuff. Even if i have messed up with the electronics, learning how to repair them is one of my most precious skills.

@NoStringsXDXD Absolutely! Learning and growing with instruments makes us better. I have had the opportunity to help a few students build their guitars, which turned out pretty bad, but they worked! I enjoyed the experience and it helped me appreciate good guitar manufacturing for sure

@UnlimitedPotentialMusic
@UnlimitedPotentialMusic Жыл бұрын
@spenzix3720 There are some professional session players using squiers out there. Either way, you can't go wrong, but you may need a good setup on them imo. The regular strat style is versatile enough and quaks like nothing else. But, it's always good to have as many guitars as possible :P

@@UnlimitedPotentialMusic I agree but do you think the Ibanez guitar worth it is it good or nah?
@UnlimitedPotentialMusic
@UnlimitedPotentialMusic Жыл бұрын
@spenzix3720 Yes, get one. It's hard to give that direct of an answer, but that's what you're asking for :) For the money, it's good for sure. Just have to be careful with the hardware on it. There are so many options out there now, but for a versitile guitar that can play metal and switch to a single coil (mid-position) strat(ish) sound = that makes it stand out. It still needs some fret end polishing and setup work with the pickups (adjust to correct height, and probably more than once because the screws back out). The neck is good, and the tuners aren't bad. If you can maintain it and keep the hardware from breaking, it's a good deal. A fender squire is also a good choice that will offer a slight advantage on the hardware build quality, but the single coil pickups limit its capabilities with playing different styles of music that the Ibanez can do better at. If you're like me and just need the hands-on experience to see if you like it better or not, just buy one. You can always sell on reverb or some social media marketplace if you end up not liking it. Boom 💥

Man are you kidding us? Pots turning is nothing of new! Japanese and most Asian makers do not care about shims and the same goes for US, in US they use Loctite paste and Torque tightening. Find some shims that will go down on to the pot, teathed ones are the best ones but any shim will do. One shim at the bottom on the inside and one on the top and it will all be fine no need in tighten harder than to an stop. I check every guitar all of it in before playing it for real.
@UnlimitedPotentialMusic
@UnlimitedPotentialMusic 7 ай бұрын
Ok, good call. I look for some shims. I know what you're talking about with that. I'm not sure how it will work, but I'll try it out, and im sure I'll be able to figure it out. I'll definalty look for that if I buy a guitar in person. Most guitars I buy are online, so it's hard to check.
@stevepelham9010

@@UnlimitedPotentialMusic Most people will buy online. When I get an guitar in 9 of 10 about everything is loose and sloppy made. I am the one to check and sort things out that is it or else that guitar will soon start to fall a part. After some 30 guitars of different brands I know all about it. If one will put 1000 bucks on the table or more only then things starts to turn for the better.

@stevepelham9010 right on. For my class guitars, it just becomes a teachable moment to help someone learn how to fix it. I'll definitely be fixing the pods with the students and have them do it after I ruin a few guitar pods trying :P. For my personal guitars, I will only buy something I pick up and play from now on. I've learned from personal experience and from KZfaq reviews how important it is to buy something that feels good in person and that every guitar, even the same make and model, is different. I got 30 fender acoustics for my students, and 3 of them, after 5 years, are the only ones of the same make I actually like to play.
