Honestly for me nothing beats the alarm for the missing children in France. This thing litteraly starts with a screamer and then a creepy ticking clock music starts and a deep voice repeats "A child has been kidnapped.". I live in Switzerland and we usually also watch the French channels and I remember discovering it because it wildly popped during a cartoon when I was a kid and it shitlessy scared me.

My heart goes out to that Japanese reporter. He was warning about there possibly being a tsunami and the way he started to panic when it was confirmed, the fear in his voice when he said "Protect your Life!" and the way it cut off with the silence with nothing but that god awful sound after gave me chills. Luckily the tsunami was not that bad and nobody died. (Only was about 4 feet) But i hope the people who got hurt in the earthquake are recovering well.

The way he brought up what happened in 2011 as well, and "Ima sugu nigete kudasai!" actually meaning "Please run away right now!"--it really shows how deeply traumatized many people are because of the Tohoku triple disaster, and it's also really sweet in a sad way to hear him caring so much about all these viewers he's never even met.

GearAlpha I remember a clip of a tsunami warning in Japan and an anchor said something on the lines of “REMEMBER THE GREAT TSUNAMI/EARTHQUAKE OF 2011!” Like you said, they don’t want a repeat of 2011. Edit: The clip in the video was the one I was referring to. The anchor says “REMEMBER THE GREAT EARTHQUAKE OF 2011!” because of how bad it was. They also, before the Tsunami warning was issued, showed a camera showing the Fukushima-Daichi Nuclear Power Plant, which after the Earthquake & Tsunami in 2011, had a meltdown.

It’s literally in seconds. When the primary wave is detected, the alerts come on. At this point, most of us will not feel the quake, so it almost seems as if it is predicted. Once the secondary wave is measured, intensity is reported for major cities and geographical locations. It only takes about ten seconds tops until this point. It takes a few more minutes until it is determined whether there is danger of tsunamis.

2 things 1: the japan alarm gave me chills because he went from telling everyone to stay calm to shouting at everyone to leave so quickly and of all things REMINDING people of a horrible event in the country's past 2: I used to go to school in Prauge and it was like 200 feet from the air-raid-siren tower. every week they would test it and it scared the living crap out of me (I was 6 at the time) they would also test the broadcast system but only while I was at school, so one day I was sick at home and started crying when I heard it.
@sonny9054

This change in tone of the alert is something that Japan introduced in the wake of the 2011 earthquake disaster. News anchors used to report very calmly and politely until that point in order to not create panic. However, it was later suggested that this way of communication did not properly convey the urgency of the matter, allowing people to get complacent and not being able to evacuate in a timely manner. Hence, more strong and direct style of announcing these alerts was introduced.

The Japan one is what genuinely unsettled me. It started off as small warning thing, but very quickly escalated into something MUCH bigger. It’s just the panic the guy had shown when he said “Everyone, remember the Great East Japan Earthquake!” Shortly after, “Evacuate immediately!” with the signal being cut out at the end. It sends a chill down my spine.
@ElFreakinCid

It gets even more sad when you know the actual meaning of "Ima sugu nigete kudasai"--the subs said "Evacuate immediately", but what he said actually translates to "Please run away right now". I was in Israel during the Israel-Gaza war of 2014. There was one afternoon when there was an alarm at 17:01 and another at 17:40, 39 minutes apart. I remember playing an online multiplayer game on my phone then and having to run into the hallway where I had to stay until the alarm stopped sounding. I lost WiFi and I ended up losing the game for running out of time, but at least I didn't lose my life.

EVERYONE PLS RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!! PLS REMEMBER THE GREAT EAST JAPAN TSUNAMI!!!!! PLS RUN FOR --" then into rapid urgent morse code that's how u catch people's attention properly

I think it depends where you live, because when there was a false missile attack warning [or was it a bomb attack? I can't remember it's been awhile] in my area the alarm sounded similar to Malaysia's siren (17:40) The alarm noise on your phone/tv does that weird beeping thing (0:40) but the city siren is nightmare inducing. Especially sense you could hear multiple city sirens going off at once in combination with the 0:40 one, it sounded like the end of the world.. good thing it was false!

In East Germany, Flag Poles fall down due to long winds, and the warning siren kills people, because the border guards (Like me back then in 1965-1989)kill people due to it.

If people are curious about the "Tsunami alert" sound. That's actually a signal sent to wake up all TVs in the home that feature 1seg technology. Example, your kid is watching the tv in their room and their tv is the only one on, that sound plays and all tv sets in the house with 1seg are activated, letting you know "TSUNAMI! PLEASE EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY! Update: I'm muting notifications for this comment due to all the pings I've been recieving.

Bro, i have luckily never experienced these situations, and i think my country doesn't even have an eas alarm. But i know it is traumatic to people, and just watching this video gave me goosebumps. But like, the reporters on live that had to report the news while having to run away for their own lives. It must be even more traumatizing. You could hear the terror in their eyes and voice. I hope all the reporters in this video got ok after the emergency

I am Japanese. The Japanese anchors are not panicking, but speaking with an air of urgency to convey that it is an emergency situation. This is the lesson of the March 11, 2011 earthquake. Also, the Morse code-like sounds are meant to activate functions on Japanese radios related to disaster prevention.
