WARNING to Airstep users - Recent Katana Air BTS 2.0 update and blocking auto updates

Bit of a public service announcement.
If you have been using the Kat Air BTS app up till now with an Airstep, Airstep Kat version etc to edit your presets in the Katana Air or the Big Katana line you will want to immediately turn off automatically updating the app in both Android and iOS.
BOSS recently introduced the new Katana Air Ex - looks freaking fabulous doesn’t it ?
The new BTS 2.0 no longer seems to let you arbitrarily choose where to point its Bluetooth midi. It is now looking purposely for the Katana Air midi feed so it will work directly with a Katana Air.
It however will not show the Airstep Bluetooth midi used to tunnel midi through the Airstep Kat version.
You could I believe still use the Katana Librarian App to make edits .
Please be aware of this and take steps to shut off auto updating.

Developers of app came back to me and said update in november should sort connectivity issues, as I raised it specifically about airstep presume they mean it will then be able to aim bluetooth on BTS towards the airstep again

What I'm not convinced about is that surely the new ex with this new version of bts should be able to find airstep but I have no way way of knowing if new app cant connect to airstep with new ex then cant see how old air will. If developer of bts have decided only to aim bluetooth at katana air amps not sure that xsonic can do anything and everyone with an airstep setup is stuffed

@@AlecBourneMidiMadScientist hi it is the boss developers posted up on the Google play BTS page as a response to me, just hope they do mean what I whinge about on there

@@kevin285 let’s hope so. The 1.2 bts for that aspect worked well, you could even find midi over usb with it, which can be really handy

Update Not tried it but BTS app developers on 17th o toner have updated BTS so now saying it will show all midi devices on bts bluetooth page So great news if that's the case

Not entirely no. The update on the 17th indeed does work to show all available Bluetooth signals, airsteps at the moment with the new Kat air ex are in need of a quick firmware update. Kats on 1.3 firmware will work, on 2.0 I don't think so but I need to try this out again using my small Kat air.

Ah ok maybe not on air ex Works fine on my original katana air using BTS version 2 now

I just received my airstep Kat and I cant connect it on BTS. Is there a way to install an older version of the app 😢?

If you are in the xsonic group on Facebook somebody yesterday posted about a way to jump back to 1.2, for the katana you may really want to look at the alternative librarian app which is a lot more powerful and purpose built for the big Kats. The Kat air BTS app is going through updates so if you want to stick with that it should come good again in November.

hi Alec and Fabio , I also have the same problem , i just bough the airstep kat the last week , and it is not showed on the bluetooth device list. Have you found any way to solve this issue ? @@AlecBourneMidiMadScientist

I also have tried with librarian and the issue is also there

I beg to differ. I just verified that I can control a Katana 50 MKII using librarian on an iPad just fine@@jacobzendejas3481
