I owe you all some form of update. You all brought me so much kindness. Its only fair I let you on what has been going on with me after lullaby. I got fired. Got a new job. found love. Bought a home. Married and got a beautifull daughter. She is 3 now. ( Time really flies.). I look back at this project with much love. I have tried to start new projects. But the time I have to invest has been very little. I still draw from time to time, to keep my skill up. Perhaps when I find more time I can animate again. Its been 8 years yet I still teared up at this. This was so nostalgic.

I just noticed a detail so very sad after all these years!! At 5:00 it establishes that celestia has a tradition of tucking her sister in using her magic, and when we skip to the present with her outside the window we can see that she still continues to tuck her sister in by setting the moon!! Gosh the detail put into this is stunning

if MLP wasn't a children's show, it could've had so much deeper lore and storytelling. truly made my childhood.

I literally cannot describe the excellence of the fight scene between Celestial and Nightmare. It is SO well animated and intense, and the muffled sound effects booming against the soft, gentle music? Like it’s such a dramatic moment combined with that delicate melody and it’s literally perfect. I get goosebumps every time I see it. I watched the animatic as a kid and waited for the full release and I’ve been coming back to rewatch this masterpiece ever since!

Okay but this interpretation of the fight between celestia and luna is 50x better than the one we got in the show

The fact that NO ONE is talking about the fighting scene is a crime. That animation is good as hell.

I like to think MLP's greatest masterpiece is the fandom. For as great as the show was, nothing compares to fan works like this. There is not a comparable moment in the 8 seasons of MLP that makes you cry like this.

The idea that Celestia gets her rainbow mane as a sort of magical scar from using the elements is my absolute favorite headcanon. Celestia being unable to escape the reminder of what she's done every time she looks in a mirror is so tragic and I absolutely love it.

What I love about this masterpiece is that it doesn’t show any sister as “evil”. Because when you think about it neither of them are evil, they’re just ponies who have made mistakes.

This person casually dropped one of the hardest MLP fan animations and then disappeared

Came back to this after remembering the song, as well as Luna’s reply, and I have to say this: the fans do better with the mythos of this series than the actual show ever did. Seriously, the events that set the entire generation in motion was Luna and Celestia fighting due to the latter being adored over the prior. Yet it’s all written off after the first two episodes and sparsely if ever mentioned in the following seasons. Heck, Celestia is only ever called out for how she ignored her sister’s pain in one episode with Daybreaker, and that still didn’t fully address the problem. Much as this generation brought to the franchise, it should have done more with its ideas. Heck, in the final battle we had a pony child that was evil for evil’s sake, and Sombra, one of the most menacing, serious villains in the series, had a goofy and out of character musical number out of nowhere. TLDR: love the fan projects, not crazy about the show.

The fact that everyone praised her for banishing nightmare moon while she sits there in complete agony knowing what she did to her sister is heart wrenching, anyways, love this animation, still watching it 8 years later😭

The idea that using the Elements of Harmony in this way amounted to such a shock of magical and emotional trauma that it tints her mane, in the same way that a serious event can give a person a grey streak, is such a hard hitting notion. I would imagine that generations later, the ponies of the day would probably compliment her on her beautiful pastel rainbow mane, without realizing that Celestia would have probably felt a twinge of guilt and regret and sadness that she would have to smile through, each time.

Coming back to this I never realized how dark and depressing Celestia’s past was spending thousands of years alone because she messed up and never realized how her little sister felt, Seems like MLP is not always sunshine and rainbows.....

Something I never noticed before when I watched this, but have now... Celestia doesn't use her magic when the Elements of Harmony protect her. Her horn doesn't ever light up; they act on their own. Celestia didn't banish her sister. The Elements of Harmony did.

I used to cry at the part when Celestia realizes what she’s done and I have still done when I watched it again I haven’t forgotten the words yet and it genuinely makes me feel so nostalgic about everything. MLP was definitely the best part of my childhood, and now Bluey is going to be the best part of the end of it 💗

I was only 12 years old when this came out. I didn’t know how much my life would change in eight years… Nor did I know I would lose my cat, my life companion, who I had since I was five. Now that she’s gone, I see this song in a different light… The signs that her time was coming were there, I just hoped it would be a little longer. It’s been almost a full year, and it still stings. I hope, wherever she is, she’s at peace. And I hope, that no matter how long it takes…when my time comes, I will see my first friend again.

I recently turned 17, and I still stand by the fact that this is an absolute masterpiece. I remember watching this on repeat for hours when it came out. I have also only just realised the head cannon of celestia’s main changing colours once she banished Luna to the moon. It’s a detail I never even noticed, and now approaching adulthood, I now realise the pain and grief Celestia must’ve felt. Truly an incredible animation. Thank you WarpOut for the incredible childhood performance

Here's something I realized. When Celestia used her horn at 0:44, everyone was wondering why or maybe she's just using it to set the moon. But as you can see, the moon fully glows yellow (which means Tia is holding it) and stays like that for a while.. She did it to hug the moon, to hug Luna, like to say goodnight, and rose the sun to set the moon.. Such heartwarming..

When I watched this I was in tears with chills. I checked the comments to see if I was overreacting and I was clearly not. THe amount of thought an effort put in this animation/lulluby was clearly shown and beautifully thought through. I grew up to my little pony and I wished to view an origin and I got to understand and fill in the gaps while also being mesmerized by the suspension of the video. But I especially loved how you looked into Luna and Celestia's POVs and gave them a clearer story. The headcanons you created fill in the plot holes left when we were kids. You are brilliant

This storyline is way better than the original, just saying Edit: I mean the fact that they fought and the fashion that nightmare was banished. I liked that it was way more dramatic, as an event like that should be. I also liked how celestia got her color and wavy hair from this event instead of just having it because of magic.

I am a grown man. I am 22 years old. I have seen this animation a dozen times. And I still cry watching it… This is forever going to be my personal canon of how it happened. The show didn’t do it justice sadly. Anyways gonna cry now

I never realized how absolutely amazing the animation is.

I never realized how good this was when I was younger but holy shit does this hit harder than the actual show cuz like,,,, I guess it's technically creative freedom because it's not canon and part of the actual show which is for kids. But having a reason for why Luna turned evil, which was due to the older's blindness from her own arrogance and ego. And now Celestia has to deal with the consequences and grief that come with her actions and its just- sooo good
