Even he has recently sold Taiwanese holdings in very promising companies and moved into Japanese holdings instead in light of tensions with America and China rising. He gave a very long non-answer to this girl, but he knows the truth: the dollar is falling to some extent in the next decade, and his investment decisions are matching this view.

Losing reserve currency status is typically the last thing that happens in a declining empire, not the first. Usually economic competitiveness , military power, education, financial market centers, monetization of the debt, and other factors need to decline significantly before the reserve currency status is lost. Similar to the dutch or British empires. We are on our way there, but probably a ways to go, America is still very competitive in some of the important categories.

August is when the BRICS Buck emerges in Durban. The US ability to pay bills, as the GDP drops for 4 of the last 5 quarters, appears to indicate the US Dollar may become an insignificant Fiat Dollar in a few Months? Putin announced a desire to enable a Gold Standard Currency, well over 20 years ago, it seems that between Russia, China, Brazil and South Africa they may have created enough Gold in 20 years to back the new Currency? I suspect the US State Department already has Spooks planning some foolish and Futile plans to disrupt the BRICS Summit. I envision the plans will resemble the Animal House planning that involved the attacks on the Oldsmobile Dealer's prestige? Most Empires do not enjoy losing status.

@@walden6272 US has the largest financial markets in the world, generates $70,000 GDP per capita, has many of the most competitive companies in the world, and still has one of the top militaries. When these things deteriorate reserve currency status can be lost. I don't think it will be overnight exactly, but the US is managing its debt/currency terribly so will be sooner rather than later

@@walden6272 The US has raised its debt ceiling nearly 40 times already, I find it highly unlikely it won't do it again (never happened before). All it has to do is print more money, there no upside to defaulting when the US can print. If, in some crazy situation, the US "defaulted" by not increasing the debt ceiling, it would inevitably be temporary during a political negotiation, after which it would pay up. The privileges of being the world's reserve currency cannot be overstated and there's no way the US would risk that for a political fight with itself.

There is no other current reserve, he is right. BUT he doesn't realize that there is work being done for a new common currency. Also, dollar doesn't have to be dropped overnight. All that has to happen is for most countries to drop dollar for trade between them and it's already happening. A big impact will also be growth of brics, common currency and finally Saudi dropping USD for petro De-dollarization is not an on of process. it's gradual replacement process which is happening currently

@@kurdi98k he dollar is strong since you export your inflation..all trade is tide to dollar..so when another country buys oil it will be purchased in dollar and when the dollars buying goes down the oil price will rice so if we purchase oil from $10 it would become $20 and when we convert that into our currency it prices increase that's the whole point. you didn't feel much of affect since you export your inflation that's the whole thing

With the fall of the petrodollar, there is no need for a reserve currency. Since SWIFT has been replaced in most of the world, there is no way for the US to force all countries to conduct cross border trade in approved currencies. The US has been overthrown.

He is still thinking according to the current system. You don't need a reserve currency with the new digital platform where every nation will be linked to , possibly the world bank? I'm just using that as an example. But the World Bank did just create a new digital currency called unicoin from what I heard. And if any of the other digital currencies have a exchange rate then it can all be done through one of these cbdcs. So you don't need the full faith of the United States which is having debt problems just like everyone else and political push and pulls and even the highest office in the nation can flip every 4 years. Plus the US Federal Reserve is proving their inability to stabilize prices because over the past decade they've pumped up housing and anything tied to interest

True, there are no clear alternatives. But the BRICs are planning a pot of major international currencies (Brazilian, Russian, Indian and Chinese), all of which will be gold-backed. So no single state's inflation can affect the currency greatly. That... can take a large chunk of the dollar's international trade.

Nothing is permanent in this World, US currency will decay its value and is statust as Golbal exchange currency .Human nature is such that they always look for possibilities, freedom, independent therefore BRICS will appear instead of USD no country can dominate for ever US had the opportunity to sustain their status if they act in proper manner. Her question wasn't in the least bit profound. Her question is topical and common at this moment. "Dedollarization" is right now (late April into May 2023) the flavour of the week in the media. This teenager has been watching the news over past 2 and 3 weeks and "dedollarization" has been a pet story in the news. Her question comes right out of the present news cycle.

My brother in-law bought Bitcoin and lost money in it. Just as the concept of money being printed out of thin air applies to FIAT currencies to me, digital currencies, all I see is a number with no backing. It just strikes me as a scam.
