Warrington is an industrial town in the borough of the same name in Cheshire, England. The town sits on the banks of the River Mersey and until 1974, was part of Lancashire. It is 19 miles (31 km) east of Liverpool, and 18 miles (29 km) west of Manchester.
The population in 2019 was estimated at 165,456 for the town's urban area, and 210,014 for the wider borough,the latter being more than double that of 1968 when it became a new town. Warrington is the largest town in the ceremonial county of Cheshire.
Warrington was founded by the Romans at an important crossing place on the River Mersey. A new settlement was established by the Saxon Wærings. By the Middle Ages, Warrington had emerged as a market town at the lowest bridging point of the river. A local tradition of textile and tool production dates from this time.
The expansion and urbanisation of Warrington coincided with the Industrial Revolution, particularly after the Mersey was made navigable in the 18th century. The West Coast Main Line runs north to south through the town, and the Liverpool to Manchester railway (the Cheshire Lines route) west to east. The Manchester Ship Canal cuts through the south of the borough (west to east). The M6, M56 and M62 motorways form a partial box around the town and are all accessible through Warrington.
The modern Borough of Warrington was formed in 1974 with the amalgamation of the former County Borough of Warrington, part of the Golborne Urban District, the Lymm Urban District, part of the Runcorn Rural District, the Warrington Rural District and part of the Whiston Rural District.

I am originally from very near Warrington and lived there until I was 19. I always tell people I am from Warrington. However, I never really went to Warrington town centre in my youth, I used to go to Wigan as my father was from there. I occasionally went out in Warrington as a teenager, including a terrible nightclub called Mr Smiths - but it was only a handful of times. To be honest, I'm shocked at how nice the place is. They have done what all local Councils should do is PLANT TREES to break up the concrete facades and create pleasant spaces. However, there are also some beautiful old building there, I never knew existed. This has been a real eye opener for me. It makes me feel proud to be from there now instead of embarrassed.

Nice little city, has a good location quick access to Liverpool and Manchester also airports. Good video at the end the guitar 🎸 player was phenomenal 😂👍🏻

At about 9:15 in the video, you come within inches of walking over the very spot where one of the bombs was detonated in the 1993 Warrington bombings. The street you are walking down there is Bridge Street. The memorial of the two kids that you stop to look at is for Tim Parry and Jonathan Ball, two children who were killed on Bridge Street in the bombings. The building with the closed down shop just off camera to your immediate left at 9:15 with the bench directly in front is the front entrance to what was Boots the chemist back then. More or less where that bench is sat right in front of the doors to the building now, there used to be a metal bin stood there. It was in that bin that one of the bombs was planted.

It's a very sad story and certainly a very important one for the town of Warrington. Thanks for the info, I filmed this monument but I didn't think about why it was there. Thank you very much for the information, I will definitely remember it

The last census for Warrington was 212 thousand people, I remember in the 70,s it was just over 70 thousand people. We became a Newtown in the 70s but for me Warrington is just big enough as it is now

I lived in Warrington in 1986 until 87, its totally changed..still recognise some of the town centre, but not all.

I am originally from nearby Warrington and left in the late 90s. I was shocked at how much better it looks now compared to then. The local Council have done a good job.

Witam Mistrza 😀 Ja ogladajsc kolejny spacer nie bardzo wiem jak ująć w slowami to co zobaczylam i to co było moim udziałem podczas tego spaceru 😮 Więc chyba poprzestane na kilku slowach komentarza 🤔 bo nie da sie opisać dokładnie tego co by sie chcialo opisac . Kolejna ,, perła,, stworzona nie przez Perłopławy ale stworzona i urodzona ręką czlowieka .Stworzona z kamiena , cegieł .Pomalowana kolorami bieli ,brazu , błękitu ale też czerwieni .,, Perła,,ktorej koloryt i nie powtarzalność jest przeszłością i teraźniejszością współistniejącą obok siebie , spójną , zespoloną w jeden wiekomiejski orgsnizm .Organizm ktory pulsuje jak bijsce serce ,organizm ktory zyje bo czas i ludzie żyjący i wypelniajscy tą ,, perłę,, zarówno kiedys jak i dziś tworzyli i tworzą to ,, coś,, co jest nieuchwytne a zarazem uchwytne i namscalne 🤔 co to jest nie wiem ?Jedno wiem , że warto bylo tam być , patrzeć , dotykać , smakować i chłonąć klimat tego miejsca .❤ Dziękuję Mistrzu za cudowny spacer ,za muzykę która mi towarzyszyla ,za spokojne , pełne nostalgii prowadzenie mnie ulicami tego miasta .Tak poprostu dziękuję .Warto byko poświęcić swój czas 👌 Pozdrawiam serdecznie i to juz chyba na tyle tej mojej bazgraniny .🌞🙏♥️❤️

I was born in Warrington. I had my first birthday on the SS Argentina, landing in New York with my mother. We joined my dad in Rotan, Texas where I lived through high school. The weather and culture of a small west Texas town was a huge adjustment for my mother. But, the people were welcoming and she made many friends and became a TEXAN, living there for the next 50 years. She loved her west Texas cowboys, as she called me, my brother and our friends.
