Moebius Corps and the hybrid were driven off of the planet, but at great cost to the Dominion. Augustgrad was in ruins, with countless terrans dead. Valerian and Admiral Matt Horner surveyed the dead and aided wounded. Artanis and Raynor looked upon the destruction, and Raynor said that if Zeratul believed he could make a difference, then the fight had just begun. Raynor and Artanis shook hands, and Artanis was warped aboard the Spear of Adun... "Warriors" Cinematic after "Brothers in Arms" mission from 'Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void' PC game... @@jimshotfirst4887 Hey, you have to consider, he'd hated the Dominion for what Mengsk had caused to happen. To him, his friends, to Kerrigan. The Dominion basically did force him to kill his best friend Tychus, and yet even despite all of that, he had still put his hate aside to fight along side them on Char, stood beside Kerrigan after she want back to being the Queen of Blades, and helped the Dominion hold the line against Amon's forces. It's all because of Tassadar honestly. If the Protoss Conclave had their way the Protoss would have been wiped out and never have even thought to embrace even their own Dark Templar bretheren. Artanis was mentored by Tassadar so he does most of what he does as tribute to his teacher., If Tassadar was never in the picture the Zerg would have won for sure.

The symbolism is on point tbh. Having lost the khala, the Daleem protoss learns what it's like to truly feel alone, something they never had to face before. This is just what us humans go through every day. And like us, they are learning to live with it, to adapt, and to roll with the punches. So, in our own customs, shake hands as equals.

This scene is so well written. Don’t know if anyone noticed, but when artanis offered to shake hands, he did it in the submissive way (palm up) He probably would not have known this, since he’s largely unaware of Terran customs. But then when Jim accepts the handshake, he brings their hands level, which means that he’s treating Artanis like his equal. That’s the posture of a handshake with mutual respect, Jim shoes artanis how. (Mengsk is the kind of guy who would always need to have his hand on top during handshakes in the dominant position.)

I think the fact that Raynor is the only human that fought side by side with Protoss with no real gain for himself already gave them (and us) indication that he is very fond of Protoss. I've played since I was 8 I'm almost 24 now. An I won't lie.. the story of Jim Reynor is a tragic one. He in a way has been a roll model for me.. no matter how much your heart is broken, no matter how bad things get, an no matter how much society pushes you away or demonizes you. There's always hope an always a reason to care for others. Reynor respected protoss warriors an deminion soldiers he fought against an with as they all where just trying to live there life an fight for what they thought was right.

"Give 'em hell Artanis" There's more depth to that line than I realised at first. The Protoss believe in a single timeline, destiny and fate are certainties and you may only live them out. What happens in the future will happen because it was always going to. By contrast though Terrans are the opposite. They believe that you choose your own destiny, that if you can see something coming you can do something to stop it. So when Reynor says that line, he's not just encouraging him as if he were just another Terran who knows the phrase all too well, he's telling Artanis he has a choice. You can go with the flow and wait for whatever will happen to happen, or you can fight tooth and nail to the bitter end, you can give 'em hell.

So symbolic and meaningful that I love this scene. Artanis getting the keystone back from Raynor and shaking hands symbolizes not only Protoss being a friend of a humanity but also as a leader, Artanis inheriting Zeratul's legacy (hope) and Tassadar's wisdom. Raynor could not even say hello when he met Zeratul in Hyperion in the Wings of Liberty. Wonder what would Raynor would have thought when he saw Zeratul's blade in this scene. 2:29 "Give'em hell, [Artanis]" Perhaps Raynor must have wanted to say that to his old friend when he previously had short reunion. Although the epilogue was shitty, the Legacy of the Void had great narratives that concluded the original, Brood War, and the Starcraft 2 trilogy.

I have to say that the Terrans get the short end of the stick in the Starcraft universe (But when does humanity ever NOT get the short end of the stick in Sci-Fi). First, we crash in Koprulu sector. Then we are set upon by both the Zerg and the Protoss. Then the UED shows up. Then Arcturus takes over and you have a tyrannical ruler. And to top it all off we get caught in the middle of an ancient struggle that decimates humanities forces again.

Valerian proved to be a good leader in this scene. And also Matt. They both showed the ultimate respect for fallen people... the sorrow that they had to make a sacrifice. The pain to send anyone to their deaths. A good leader feels that pain, because that is what make them to value human life and strive to make better tactics with less sacrifices. Raynor and Artanis are on a different level here, though. Artanis knows how it may end. Raynor knows that hope and will can change the tides of battle.

I’m thinking about making a custom interquel campaign, that begins right when “Brood War” ends, and ends during “Legacy of the Void”. It would concern UED survivors, who eventually work to prevent the UED from returning to the Koprulu sector with a much bigger force. The main character would be the Player Character from Episode V, the “Captain”, who survived and ends up being the highest ranking officer left of the UED expeditionary fleet, following DuGalle’s death and Stukov’s infestation.
