I don't know if was official but I found an audio story of a Krieger who was knocked out during an assault and pinned under rubble for a few days, presumed dead. Lived among civilians for a few months under assumed identity until his work party got wiped out by cultists that the Krieg had initially been sent to fight. He knew then what his purpose had been. To stand between the civilians and the Dark. Joined the planet's next tithe of troops to the Emperor and went back to war.

But what about the Krieger womenfolk? I almost see the frame of reference in which I was raised as a tiny little kid on that planet, and in which I love my mommy and my daddy there, and in which I still live there. There would be so many compulsory genetic assays for health. There would be so many stillborn, so many non-assistable live births, so many euthanasias and so many compulsory sterilizations. Genetic damage would mean that even when healthy Krieger did not die in wars, their natural lifespans would still be much shorter than other humans. What about the newborns who are viable, but who have mobility impairments such as cerebral palsy -- such as myself? Do the Kriegers let them live? I wonder who on that world -- if anyone -- made an edict that only Krieger *males* could be tithed? Is Krieg still balkanized at the planetary government level, or is there an an overarching government on the world of Krieg? Women are more vulnerable to the effects of nuclear radiation, so I could see obliging all future childbearing women and all mothers to stay in the bunker-warrens under the ground. But do we argue from this that Krieger womenfolk do not go to the surface, or that they are not tithed? Are Kriegers even allowed to decide for themselves wether to have children? What quotas and protocols exist about this? For, I can tell you for certain ... such rules about children exist on Krieg. What fertility assistance is there? What genetic therapies are there? Which of these methods, if any, are subsidized by the Imperium? What is the incidence of sexual violence? What is the incidence of other crimes? I know that it would worsen my clinical depression, but I would almost go there for many months or many years, and write an anthropology dissertation on them. I also find it so very interesting, Ogryn are so formidable that if they travel to Krieg, Ogryn do not require masks.

I mean probably some but not all. Diverts was importanted as most like companies that fought during the civil war were told to give some of their dna to cloning vats. Soldiers both men and women would’ve bred then had their children give a sample of there blood.

@@hoffenwurdig1356 I was thinking that the "cloning" process isn't like making an exact copy in this cause, more like building people, but they all have a genetic connection to the Colonel. With this system, you could think of them as his sons and daughters, not exact copies. And with them being grown in vats, don't have to worry about interbreeding, and I doubt the Kriegers have the time for that.

I believe they came into service in late M41, but isn't close to M42 already? The hard thing in Warhammer 40k is what year it is during events.
