This just for fun. Relax!

As someone who has both observed a CIWS in action and worked on the system itself, this simulation shows the serious drawbacks of UEBS simulation engine. The actual CIWS target lock program has to have a targetting priority algorithm installed due to the system locking onto debris from a detonated missile and shooting the individual pieces of debris until they were too small to track. With a target rich environment such as this, the CIWS would have never stopped firing. The targeting algorithm would likely have made large sweeps across the entire area of approach, then angled up and shot down the largest pieces of airborne zombie. It also calculates its range in miles. The moment that the simulation started, the CIWS would have opened fire and started mowing down zombies.

Kudos to that first zombie who thought he won the race.

As I was watching the video my brain gradually went from "Cool, let's see how long the cannon can survive!" to *"o.o* Aight lets see how long the zombies can survive..."

*"I am completely mentally stable."* *"Oh hey, look; a milion zombies!"*

Just once. Just once, I want to see a company of U.S. Marines vs 10,000 annoying karens. 10,000 voices screeching as one: "I want to see your manager!" Oh, the horror!

The last 4 zombies could have turned and easily run away but they were loyal to their comrades and died charging the gun in vain with honour.

The biggest fear for me about turning into a zombie would be all that walking.

Ok so of course the gun has unlimited ammo and a barrel that never overheats or melts, but I love how it fires from 3 sides of the turret with only 1 barrel... AND is also impermeable to blood splatter. Very impressive! Oh...and zombies with agility so impeccable that they can run full speed over piles of slippery bodies without tripping... also impressive.

I just double-checked. Most modern Gatling guns or big machine guns can continually fire without overheating or have a melting breakdown for hours. There is even a gatling gun that fires 12g 😮

The fact that AUTO SENTRY GUN can shoot with its ass should really be appreciated.

It's called suspension of disbelief in order to enjoy something. As a military veteran it's difficult to watch certain movies with all the technical flaws. You just have to get over it and enjoy the show.

Simply not possible (even discounting the zombies thing). The gun barrels would melt from such sustained firing.

I like to think the auto sentry gun is shouting "Exterminate!" as it mows down the hordes.

Flesh vs CIWS/Phalanx wouldn't be a contest. It would've engaged zombies well over a km away, firing 50-75rds/sec. Each (!) explosive 20x102mm round would obliterate dozens of zombies from energy transfer alone, before exploding, launching shrapnel eliminating dozens if not hundreds more. It has 6 barrels. It can fire as long as ammo is fed to it. But still fun vid

Absolute Carnage ! What would have happened if the Zombies did actually swarm the gun? They couldn't bite it or tear it apart. It would just go on shooting until the rounds ran out or the barrels melted.

I'll bet that the stench afterwards lasted a hundred years! LOL.

As a CIWS tech, this was highly entertaining even if entirely impossible. The target has to be going over (classified) mph for the weapon system to classify it as a potential threat. Thank you for reminding me of younger days :)

I call that gun a Phalanx weapon system commonly found on battle ships , aircraft carriers and cruisers. Its meant to defend the ships against missile attacks from aircraft.

Cool to watch. You have several choices of ammo to choose from Target Practice (TP), which is just ball ammo or slug, Armor Piercing Incendiary (API) and High Explosive Incendiary (HEI). It sounds like TP might be the better choice. The high penetration and lack of fragmentation of the TP round could wipe out 3 or more with each round. The HEI and API could possibly do the same, but it remains to be seen if the rounds would activate hitting a soft target such as a fully functional zombie. I saw a 20mm TP round discharge from a jammed gun in the shop. It went through 3 block walls and a bathroom stall before stopping in a block wall. So even though it's not designed for combat, it still packs a punch.

lol, the old infinite ammo and non-melting barrel mod which can shoot in several different directions at once - always a big help. It's also been well documented in major medieval battles that piles of bodies, once dense enough, are literally impossible to climb over with any speed at all. But, I know it's not a serious simulation, obviously!

I haven’t practiced much but running over mountains of zombie corpses sounds like a pretty challenging workout.

I am concerned that the phalanx system has a range of over 3 km but only fires when zombies are within 100m? Need to check the parameters of the gun

20mm Vulcan is not only for air target but also for ground target include infantry.😮 I guess that is reason why zombies are here, not same number of Spartan or other human units.

If the weapon only fired according to the movement animation, it would have been destroyed. It's not "realistic" in terms of simulation, but it was fun to see the zombies flying through the air =)

That turret has to have its tracking stat absolutely maxed out... that's definitely not physically possible for it to rotate that fast....

So that CIWS only starts shooting at a range of 25 yards??? That is one helluva sad Anti-aircraft weapon.

Only way would be a lazer weapon that was coolable and enough power for continuou use. It would need to be of even greater power since you wouldn't get frag enhancement killing and wounding from the standard cannon rounds. Not to mention all the other issues. Best bet is a tactical nuke, or a few thousand tanks could just drive on formation sweeps across the field. They can't get into the tanks, so it would just be mainly driving around and grinding them and coordinated volleys (prevent friendly fire) at a rate the barrels can handle and when you run out, you just keep using the tracks and hope you don't run out of fuel.

1 question, why does the auto sentry gun has to wait until the zombies got so close then shot rather than blast them up far-far away from a distance at the first place? Why?

As a matter of fact *SENTRY CLASS* guns are fully autonomous installations featuring a sub surface cryo cooling system; automatic targeting; continuously firing at 200 rounds per second. These are intensely *DEFENSIVE* systems, pretested to possess a 95+% functional accuracy. In other words...um yeah...

I was going to say, a 20 MM CIWS has 5 200 round bursts in the magazine at one time, so an Arleigh Burke or other Surface ship can engage 5 missiles or aircraft within 1 NM before it needs to be reloaded. The best point defense in the world is the Kashtan-M with 16 short range missiles and 2 30 MM cannons.

I was expecting the rivers of blood to gum-up the CIWS's mechanism, and the zombies to rise-up again - still all good fun. I've stood next to one of those weapons (Phalanx) onboard a UK destroyer - formidable looking weapon!

No.1) Why would the Zombies attack a Phalanx auto cannon, it's an inanimate object, like a car or a mail-box, Zombies don't attack inanimate objects? No.2) Why let the Zombies get so close, really S?!Ty tactics, this gun has a (effective/ flat-trajectory) Range of 2,000 Meters; no earthly reason to let them get within, like, 10 ft. These simulations would be so much better if actual strategy and techniques were used. I understand this is just dumb fun but really drags on when a mindless horde fights a highly technological misfiring turret. Maybe AI could improve these simulations in future. Guess this how Skynet will begin.

These million Zombies are on a terrible losing streak ,worse than the 1988 Baltimore Orioles .They need at least one good supervisor ,who could manage them better ,One gun held them off ? . a all mass assault on one field could achieve success, though I don't know what theywant with a Gun;;? can't eat it?. Its like those Tanks ? Dang Silly I must say!.

problem is with a gun like that, where would you get more ammo for it? With the world in total chaos, there will be no more factories making new gun parts or ammo for them. eventually the only weapons left to kill zombies would be edged or pointed weapons and fire.

Interesting thought experiment assuming the system has either an unlimited amount of ammunition, or at least 1,000,000 round capacity and can fire continuously for hours at a time non-stop at a rate of 100 rounds per second!! • If each round hits a zombie and takes out one zombie, it would take 1,000,000 rounds to do this task! • If each round takes out 10 zombies, then it would only require 100,000 rounds! • But both of these assumptions would assume accuracy and efficiency on rate of kill that is higher than probable! • With assumption #1, one round per zombie kill rate, it would still take 2.78 hours of continued fire to kill 1,000,000 zombies assuming the rate of fire is constant at 100 rounds per second!!!!
