Love the game, and the harlequins! Warsurge is so fun for making all these whacky matchups. One thing to remember, you don't remove models immediately after each attack, only after the attack phase is done - unless they are shot by perks that state models are removed immediately. This means those dead models can also attack back if they haven't attacked yet; conversely if they are killed by weapons that remove models immediately, they can't attack back.

@@hobbyhomies All good! It took us a long while to get all the rules too. They're deceptively similar to 40k when there's actually enough small differences to significantly change things. Excited for that rematch!

The steady top down camera is great for an overview but it would be cool to accasionally see some close ups of the table and miniatures.

At the moment we run a live edit with 4 stationary cameras into an interface, but we're lacking an input for a fifth roaming camera unfortunately. We plan to add shots between turns but we're doing our best to keep editing down to a minimum!

I don't know if you guys have worked this out since this game, but you can use ranged weapons in melee, unless they have the unwieldy perk

Thanks homie! I've just added unwieldy to all of my muskets. Maybe I'll need to add some flintlock pistols also

Great video! Always want to see more Warsurge! Quick note about 6's around 30:00: if you need a 6 on your Attack Dice and you get a -1 modifier, it would become a 6/2, which means you need to roll a 6 followed by a 2+. So 6's do not auto hit in Warsurge. Modifiers to Attack Dice can never be better than 2+ or worse than 6/6/6. Also, just in general for the Attack Sequence: a player selects one unit to use any of its weapons (can be all of them and on separate targets). Once they are done with that unit, the next player picks a unit to attack with any of that unit's weapons.

Sooo this game is like 40k but with an army builder and alternate activations? Seems nice! I only knew One page rules. I must admit I dont like the power defense chart but I get why is there. I think this game is more hospitable to people liking 40k.

Actually you can fire the field gun into, within or out of a melee, with the appropriate penalty to the attack roll. A battle or heavy weapon can fire to a target you are locked with on a minus of -1 or -2 respectively. If you fire from or into a melee you are at -1 to the attack roll. Unless you have unwieldy. There is also a perk to disengage from melee. Warsurge is a huge game with incredible customization possibilities....go on, maybe with one or two less beers...😅🥳

Remember also that casualties are removed at the end of the attack phase so you can still attack with fallen models (of course if you haven't attacked with them yet)...

Is there anyway to shoot and charge? One Page Rules really suffers when it comes to trying to use hybrid shooting/melee units to get that super elite feel

I think if you're after something that can shoot and then charge, you'll need to have an assault weapon and then during the dash phase you can move into base contact. Unless there are perks that allow you to, I'm not sure! Thanks for watching

@@hobbyhomies , with the "Advanced Playstyle" you are not fixed with the regular phases, but you decide what actions you want to give your units. Up to two. AND you can later chose the same unit again in the same round, but with increased comand-point cost. With that, depending on the situation on the battlefield, you can "run - shoot - run - fight" or whatever, if you want to. In the same round, but not in the same activation, so the opponent(s) get to activate somewhere between that too.

An easier way to do that, in all three available playstyles, would be seperate ranged and melee weapons and giving the ranged weapon the perk "Moving Strike". The unit can move and shoot during that movement, using up its attack with that weapon before actual combat. Then continue to move into melee and fight with the melee weapon in the combat phase/action as normal.

@@Caranamon it seems assault ranged weapons don’t differ a penalty to fire when in melee with something? Unless I misread, so seems I can just give my guys assault weapons and then just either charge or shoot as desired pretty easily, not as cool as move shoot charge per say, but effectively the same result of making a unit that is elite and able to fight at ranged and melee

@@Gw2Zoke , yes, that would be the easiest way. But every unit with ranged and melee weapons could do that. If you want to have an elite unit (without just increasing power and/or attacks), a perk like "Fast" or "Moving Strike" would allow you to remove casualties BEFORE they clash together in the melee - so these models can't attack in return. Because in the regular combat phase the casualties are removed at the end of that phase.
