When I first saw a picture of Babe Ruth when I was 7 years old, I thought he was black. He had a lot of the same features as my black family. Then I saw a color picture of him and said, "oh nvm". Fast forward to me being in my mid 30s with two babies that came out white with straight/curl non nappy hair(white wife, take that racist). My eldest has started to turn olivish color, which is the color that Babe was in that color picture. So maybe he was mix race?

I have to disagree. I do not think it changes a whole lot, if anything at all. First, it shouldn't be shocking that Babe Ruth may have some African ancestors in his DNA-makeup. Even if he wasn't the illegitimate son of his mother and a black bartender. Most Americans are of mixed race to a degree. When Elizabeth Warren was in the news a while back, it was mentioned that all Americans have some percentage of American Indian DNA in them. While many Americans will consider themselves "white," you scratch the surface and you find a variety of DNA markers in us. So that Babe Ruth may have some African DNA in him shouldn't be all that shocking. Second, I don't see how it changes how we think of Babe Ruth. No one should go out and try to claim he was the "real" first black player. That will always be Jackie Robinson. No one really treated Babe Ruth as a black man. Further, he never presented himself as a black man. They made fun of his looks, but no one said he was actually black. He did not go through was Jackie Robinson went through. Babe Rush was the most significant player of his era. At this point, I think his real ancestry (whatever that may be) is, essentially, irrelevant.
