Most of the people claim that F1 2014 had been the worst Codemaster’s game ever made, with tons of bugs and currently forgotten by the Formula 1 community. Will it be such that bad game as it’s claimed?
After this game is launched, I noticed right away that Young Driver Test Mode, present since F1 2012 had been replaced by this fast and boring Test mode which only defines your current difficulty level, based on your driving skills.
As a new feature of Formula 1 2014, Germany Grand Prix is back at Hockenheim circuit, where I noticed some bugs when I passed by a run-off area, my car stirs up dust as if it were on the grass and also a new Sochi track in Russia.
Not only the fact that there is no classic cars, which would be returned by 2017, I can notice a worse graphic car texture quality than F1 2012. The IA should have had more malice to avoid wheel-to-wheel contact. Regarding to car damage system, it’s not convincent. I know a Formula 1 game objective is not bumping into each other but those cars seems like a war tank. No matter how hard you crash into the wall, the worst consequence is losing a front wing.
Weather system on F1 2014 back then was not that realistic compared to nowadays. Without classic car mode, it only remains the same old Career mode, without any innovation compared to previous two formula one games, where you can notice on longer races that your tyres won’t get worn so quickly as on F1 2013. Scenary mode is a shorter career mode that you compete on 3-lap-races and if you beat your rival, you drive on his team. Same mode I mentioned on F1 2012 game and It’s my favourite. Not to mention this game has been the last one with multiplayer splitscreen mode.
