It's a great send off the for the Xenoblade Chronicles series. I also appreciate the references to the other 'Xeno' games like Xenosaga and Xenoblade Chronicles X. It's such a great love letter to the fans of the series since Gears.

SPOILERS Kind of interesting how N is both the city's destroyer and its savior. In the base game the narrative was that N destroyed the city solely to bring back M but now we learn he was also in it to defeat Alpha and save Aionios and the endless now, ironically setting up the second city in doing so Sort of like Surtur destroying Asgard and killing hela so that the people of asgard may survive except the motivation was consequentialist

So Ontos was originally designed to be a deliberator between Pneuma and Logos. When he was split from them, Ontos latched on to Zanza and Meyneth for that function. So when the core was used to help with origin, Ontos reset to a purely logical being, a machine, Alpha. Because of how Aionios was formed from fear and selfishness, he deemed the original people of the two worlds as flawed, so latched onto the city people because they were not part of the cycle Mobeius created. However, a part of Alpha remembered the influence Shulk and his friends had on his outlook, so his “conscience” formed into A.
@ayejaymanofficial
@ayejaymanofficial Жыл бұрын
Another fitting thing that happened was that the reason A was able to break free from Alpha was because in Grandpa Ghondor's final moment, he rushed towards Na'el and used his Ouroboros powers on her in an attempt to sever the connection. And who does the Ouroborous Powers originate from? Pneuma, the trinity processor reigning over the spirit and soul. A fragment of Pneumas power used on Alpha released the fragment of their conscious, A. It's PEAK your honor.

@@ayejaymanofficial The reason Oroborous is green is because Pneuma's power is the one charging it up. That means we were with Pyra and Mythra this entire time in the base game of 3 :O ........... that shocked me the most lmao. It is also implied that Riku turned Matthew's gloves into the sheath that Noah uses for Lucky 7. As said in this DLC the trinity cores exist but they can't form a body without an "Avatar". Pyra and Mythra chose Nia as their avata (makes sense, they have a connection and she has their swords.. they aren't dead) and Malos either didn't choose anyone or is implied to corrupt N over the cycles of hatred.

@@Hephaestus_God The remnants of the Logos core just give additional power to the Swords of the End(Which is why Lucky Seven and the combined technique at the end of FR are so powerful, they draw from both opposite trinity cores at the same time). It makes sense that it does not have a larger presence beyond that because it broke when Malos died, it's not a functional entity anymore.

To help and give an answer to the part on the story Aero was a bit confused about: A and Alpha aren't perfectly explained. However taking Rex's line about Alpha being a "heartless machine" and A describing herself as "the conscience" I came to the conclusion that Alvis basically had the same thing happen to him that happens to Cia in Hyrule Warriors. Cia wanted Link and was willing to do anything to get him. So she tore out the good part of her soul and swore loyalty to Ganon. The good part of her soul became the character Lana. The same thing happened to Alvis. Ontos is a machine. He calls himself that in the final cutscene of the first game and he's way more cold and calculating than Pneuma or Logos. However, Ontos does have some moments where he breaks that cold shell and shows emotion. He saves Shulk and returns him to his body after Mechonis Core for no reason other than admiring his spirit to make a difference in the world. A machine would've said, "Tough break kid. Rules are rules. You're dead." Ontos went out of his way to save Shulk. And again, in the last scene he makes recreations of Shulk's friends to help him make the final choice. A machine wouldn't have done that. A machine would've waited for the human to input their commands. These are "conscious" decesions that a self proclaimed machine is making. I imagine that this conflict bothered Ontos and he ripped out that emotion or "conscience" to return to his roots: his "Alpha" state if you will. The removed consciousness became it's own entity. It wasn't Alvis it was only one piece. Not Alvis. Just... "A." I imagine that Alpha probably saw City people, who are born of combinations of the two worlds, and decided that they were the true successors to Klaus's world. Not those half people born out of these half worlds. That last part about Alpha's reason for his action is pure conjecture! I don't have any lines to prove it, but it's the conclusion I thought made the most sense. Feel free to provide a better reason. Matthew

This definitely helped me understand it a bit better thank you! I do think the A and Alpha stuff I get it, it was just more Alpha's reasoning and motive for wanting to destroy everything I still wasn't perfectly sure on but I could see your reasoning being it. Thanks again!

@@ActualAero No problem! This is bound to happen with 2 and 3's philosophy of being more open to interpretation. Just a bit of shame it had to effect the villains of 3 the hardest. I worry people will react to Alpha the same way they talk about Z unfortunately. Cause he is the perfect send off boss for this story like you said.

But alvis didn't do it intentionally though, when Ghondor lunged for Na el in the city that is when she was "unshackeld from ontos" as it were. The reason alvis became alpha is as rex and A explained by the lake: pnuma and logos were there to advise ontos the arbiter, thier opinions and actions influenced alvis's decision making throughout xenoblade 1. Without them, he reverted back to a mere machine.

I actually really like the idea of leaving all this fan service connection stuff for the dlc. Not only from an obvious business perspective by making 3 completely standalone. But I think it’s really cool that everyone was upset about the lack of connection in 3. But in reality all the Klaus stuff was important in Aionios, it just happened earlier on, and by the time 3 roles around all that’s left is the conflict between Oroborus and Moebius, which I like considering 3’s main theme of moving on into the future.

3 was absolute mid with the exception of chapter 5 which lifted the game single handedly into the status of a very good Jrpg. FR is what the main game should have been it is just the better game and especially the better Xeno game.

@@FelixS. 3 is indeed the worst in the trilogy in my opinion. It didn't have that special twist all the other games have. WHICH, isn't a bad thing necessarily, but having come from all the other games it really felt like a let down. The fans kind of hyped it up too much which is dangerous in it's own right. But 3 is defiently NOT a stand alone game. Sure story wise it can be played by itself, but it's not like Xeno 1 and Xeno 2. the connections, references, characters, themes, references, closure of the other 2 games are so abbundent... that not playing the other 2 first is just wrong.

Matthew. I’ve seen a few people get confused on “Alvis” Alvis, Alpha, A, are all parts of Ontos. As A mentions, Alvis took form from Ontos and Zanza’s will. Without Zanza, Alvis returned to being Ontos. Pneuma and Logos are needed to balance Ontos, without them he is a heartless machine and becomes Alpha. Alpha has watched people of both worlds repeat their problems over and over again; basically Eternal Recurrence. He believed that only the new people born; meaning people of the city, could change and grow. So his plan became to erase the old and start with the new. Because A is the conscience, Alpha lacked any morals or sympathy. Incapable of emotions.

Regarding alpha and A SPOILERS After the worlds failed to merge and moebius was born, alpha was very displeased with how humanity desired the endless now and believed that instear of saving aionios, it would be better to just scrap everything amd start over. Since the ppl of the city had nothing to do with moebius' creation, alpha saw them as worthy to remain. Out with rhe old, in with the new. Bc pneuma.and logos were not there to give their input, alpha kinda just said fuck it we ball and launched his offensive. As for A A and Alpha split in the city when ghondor was fighting N. When ghondor realized what Alpha wanted to do with Na'el, he used the last of his power to try and free her. When he touched her core, A split off. This also recontextualizes N and the city quite a bit, as in addition to fulfilling his deal for M, he also was there to kill Alpha and never meant to actually kill his son.

You said you were confused as to why Alpha only saved the city citizens. Its a biblical allegory in that The Ark, which is the vessel to the “new world” aka Earth and Alpha essentially acting as the savior, in machine form. The fog rift we see from future connected is the same rift we see in the final fight. My guess is that It is a byproduct of the vanishing of the conduit, and a portent of the unstability of the universes colliding again. Alvis The Absconder, I theorize used this fog rift gateway to travel through multiple parallel dimensions before his return in Future Redeemed as Moebius froze the world, hindering the universes. If true, this means that the telethia who went thru the fog rift is the same telethia in Xenoblade X. Which would mean Klaus world is sort of a meta 4th wall break.

Ontos became a heartless machine (Alpha) because of the absence of Pneuma and Logos as avatars inside the trinity processor. Logos was being used by N in the sword of the end and Pneuma was in the fist of the end(Ouroboros system). That's why Shulk and Rex becomes the Avatars for both processors, so the system could get stabilized and wait for Origin to reboot all the data in the new merged universe.

this DLC was near perfect for me. Alvis is my favorite character, so loved how this story revolves around ontos. i am a little confused about pneuma core crystal since it blew up in aion, and assumed malos core crystal with it. i feel like they should be gone unless their data existed in ontos and therefore could be rebuilt through origin. i also wished they expanded on the fog beasts. i remember A saying that it's a sign of a strained world. so was the rift from FC because universes are being pulled together, and rift/fog beasts in FR are Alpha manipulating the world to his will? are they related? or is fogbeast/rift just a phenomenon that occurred for different reasons in FC and FR? i do like the idea that rifts ultimately lead to where the conduit is since ontos core is bound to it and thats where ontos' power comes from. did alvis leave with the conduit, just leaving his core behind to be used for origin and then reemerged through the rift as alpha and reinhabiting his core? or did he just return to his core at end of xbc1 and just woke up at some point in origin as alpha and took control?

The post credit cutscene for Xenoblade 2 will answer your questions about Pneuma's Core Crystal lol. As for Ontos, it seems like it can create multiple iterations of his own Core Crystal, as seen with A having one, Alpha having one, and Na'el having one. It's not clear as to why Alvis left his Core Crystal with Shulk after the events of Future Connected though, other than the possibility of him knowing what's coming and provided his Crystal for Shulk, Melia, and Co to use for Origin.

This was very good, and I gotta say the exploration while smaller in scope than 3 felt way more fun by comparison because they added in all of these completion checklists. I'm also glad the community system didn't halt the progress of the game. I love Torna a lot, probably a bit more than this DLC, but I know a lot of people who absolutely hated the gated progression in that game. I think the one thing I would have liked to see a bit more of was some exploration of areas outside this central one and how the whole world map looked back then because the little teases of what we can see in the distance were pretty cool. I'm also hoping they are working on remasters of Xenosaga, Xenoblade X, and even Xenogears which was also apparently reference in that radio broadcast as well. I definitely think X DE is the next big game they're releasing, but I can see Xenosaga remastered coming out between now and then if it's in the works, that Baten Kaitos remaster is giving me a lot of hope that it is.

How Alpha came to being is similar to how Alvis came into existence in Xenoblade 1. A new world is born with a new god in its place, Z with the power of the Trinity Processor or specially Ontos in Origin. Except unlike Alvis who shouldered the regrets of Klaus and wanted to do right, it shouldered the hatred and fear of Z. The inhabitants of the new world of Aionios which are the cityfolk have nothing to do with the old world much like how the people of Bionis and Mechonis aren't aware of the previous world. Hence A or Ontos decided to do the same thing again, fell a god and recreate a new world. Only this time Nael is the person he chose and there is no choice in the matter unlike when Alvis asked Shulk what he wanted.

Also, they designed a good and easy way to help the player find most objects. And for those players who want only to watch the story is easy mode. Tbh, the one part I really don't particularly like storywise is that Alpha uses Alvis' homs form. It just seems off, like it was only done for shockvalue to mess with fans on the reveal trailer because "OMG, evil Alvis!?". And then the story goes "nah, actually Alvis is gone as how we knew it to be and it's not really Alvis but rather the core itself and-". They could have just done a redesign that you can still recognize as coming from the same source, like they did with A. Otherwise, I largely enjoyed the game. There are some wrinkles in the gameplay like how we sadly don't get a NG+ and the postgame was kinda scuffed(though at least there was a postgame, that's not always a given), but it was fun more often than it wasn't. And the story was surprisingly standing pretty tall. Of course it can't really stretch its legs and provide a fully fleshed out experience like the main games, but it is actually up there qualitywise, which was a neat surprise after FC felt more like a neat drop in the bucket and Torna is all over the place narratively and sadly doesn't properly hit its stride until the last 15 minutes. About the "It's disappointing that they never name the other characters"...yeah, it's strange. There is the legit reasoning that just randomly namedropping people would most likely confuse the characters and audience if they don't know, but there is a limit and consistency to that train of thought. They show the players all these seemingly random people in the recap-cutscene, they namedrop the other two cores, Klaus and even Zanza...in that context, it feels odd that they never even specify in discussions between characters that should know. They even stretched it to where it is ambiguous to an unneeded degree if Rex means Pyra and Mythra or Pneuma and Logos when he says "If only those two were here".

I don't see that ever happening, best case scenario is that Square does a remake of Gears and does its homework on both its own subtext and how Monolith handled the Xenogames after it.

Still haven’t really figured out what N’s Sword of the End is, but when he referred to Matthew’s gauntlets as Fists of the End I’m starting to get closer to it. The problem I see then is the fact that Noah’s Lucky Seven is another sort of anomaly as well. There is a million and one parallels that could guide is to the right answer, but god damn is the final answer here not easy. I don’t currently agree that Ouroboros Powers are strictly derived from Pneuma and Pneuma alone as many people are saying, given N’s own weapon as I just mentioned sharing the moniker “of the End.” Anyways. I think anyone saying they have the answer right now is probably still lacking the evidence to confirm it at best, and entirely wrong at worst.

Overall as a DLC and a wrap up of the trilogy I was left more than happy. I don't think they ever could of pleased everyone with this content but I think they pulled it all together well. There are some things we could of seen but part of Xenoblade for me has always been certain aspects being open to interpretation. As soon as I got to Klaus' world I lost my mind 😂

Think exploration is sorta part of the game so don't really think it matter all that much that you find the unlock kits. Actually sorta liked it, made exploration more rewarding. The only think is that I think they should all be in chests so they show up on the radar when you build a radar tower or that lying items also shows up. Also think they don't refer to the names of the people because that might spoil parts of previous games.

Personally, I think what ended up happening is that at the end of XC1, Alvis reverted back to his core crystal and was simply reawakened later, albeit in a different form. Although I’m not sure how true this would end up being if Shulk later finds the core on the beach without Alvis reawakening right then and there, but in my mind I’m simply thinking blades don’t awaken from core crystals in the XC1 universe, only in 2s. With Logos being the male persona and Pneuma being the female one, I don’t think Alvis/A was necessarily something “in between,” but rather both at once, which is why we have both a male and female Alvis. This doesn’t explain why they split though and, to be honest I really don’t know why that happened. But I do think the split happening causing Alvis, or rather Alpha, to revert back to machine logic makes absolute sense.

I actually don't think that A is necessarily the same entity as Alvis in XC1 and Alpha is a new entity. I think that it's something similar to rampancy in Halo (and in a similar vein, the alpha AI in Red vs Blue). I think that Alvis essentially became corrupted (or went rampant) after years within the simulation run by the Trinity Processor. This split his personality into A (the female part of Ontos's programming that retained its humanity and nuturing of the past) and Alpha (the male part of the programming that retained its machine tendencies and obsession with the future), sort of mirroring how the Bionis and Mechonis were set apart in the XC1 world. I believe they both remembered Shulk and the events of XC1, but only A cared about it. I'm also not sure how they got the Logos core crystal for Origin's processor, as Malos's core was shattered. Would be interesting to know how the Sword of the End is connected with Logos as well.

the dlc was hit and miss with me personally. Now, i already knew going in that i probably wouldn't /love/ it since i really wanted a sequel DLC that provided closure with the main cast of XB3 (and XG1 & 2's cast since we know Origin has all their data stored). But i get the feeling were just never going to see any of those characters again and whatever the next game is will pick up somewhere completely different. I still really like the DLC. The nostalgia nods, seeing Shulk and Rex be dads and wandering parts of Aionios that we hadn't seen before was still worth the price of admission imo. It was good to fill in the story gaps around how the founders came to be and what they were about, but other than that it didn't really answer many things for me. Maybe im being too pessimistic, but i just really wanted real, actual closure to the story and not more "what happens? where'd Noah go? The worlds seem like the combined..but who knows? Did Mio's group and Noahs group EVER see each other again? Did Origin work? too bad you get no solid answers and just have to sit around and guess" Like i said above i feel we wont get these answers and the next game will pick up on the (seemingly) recombined world 1000 years after the story of XB3 and we just wont see any of our beloved characters again...but im very, VERY new to Xeno games and have only gone through the XBC 1, 2 & 3 so maybe my lack of experience with the franchise is why im having so many frustrations. Can anyone with more experience tell me if my fears are unfounded? i really hate the idea of getting 0 closure on the characters i actually care about. Matthewwww

Don't worry; I share a lot of your thoughts and feelings here. I think Future Redeemed was great, and it filled in some gaps, but there were things that felt a bit left out. In particular, the ending of the base game had a long scene where they made a big deal about the Keves and Agnus characters saying goodbye to each other and were hinting at one day "seeing each other again" and "getting to walk hand in hand again", but all we get on that front is a quick post-credits scene of the worlds merging again, but no characters or anything. And I think that would have been at least acceptable if this wasn't confirmed to be a stopping point/conclusion of this trilogy's story. All in all, I think they could have explained a few things a bit better. But at the same time, it was a fun ride. Personally, I might go back and replay the trilogy again, see if I can pick up on things I missed before, and just enjoy the ride again. And who knows? Some of the characters could still pop up here and there somewhere in the future even if their main stories are concluded.

Spoilers Nearly perfect dlc gameplay wise. Very good story. Only complaints are that Nikol and Glimmer didn't get enough screentime. And the ending of the worlds combining again was kinda confusing. Obviously that's like after the events of Xenoblade 3, but I'm just a little upset that it just kinda happens. I can only hope XBC4 explains why it happened? For now I can only assume that the worlds at some point yearned for each other once again and this time the collective unconscious wasn't scared of the future and origin functioned as planned. I just wish we got to see a more proper send off to all our beloved characters. I mean hell we havent even seen Pyra and Mythra since the events of Xenoblade 2. Just feels like the ending was a little rushed.

Same feelings here... Though at least the XC2 cast made any appearance at all in the main game (the photo). The last time we've got to see anyone from the XC1 cast aside from Shulk and now Alvis was in Future Connected where they were all still the exact same as in the main game, even in terms of outfits. Knowing that will stay the last I've ever seen of them kinda hurts, ngl.

Super disagree with your thought that the game was padding it's runtime by softly forcing exploration. What Torna did I completely agree, hard locking your progress was a poor system. However, what they've done with FR I absolutely adore. What Monolithsoft has done here was giving an actual incentive for exploration. Genrally in Xenoblade, there isn't much reason to explore unless you want to. Clearly the games have always wanted players to explore by incentivising the player with XP, accessories, side stories, etc. All of that's well and good, but by and large nothing you get really moves the buck forward in making the player stronger. With the affinity and unlocks systems in FC, you are always finding things that improve the players power. Kill some birds? Affinity to get a new skill. Community side quest? Affinity for powering up your arts. Collectopedia entry? Affinity. They've perfected the gameplay loop here. The more you explore, the more stuff you get that directly helps you get stronger, it's incredible!

@@ActualAero yeah I think exploration is best here for incentive but important things like affinity unlock kits and gems I reckon shouldn't be hidden away in parts of the world in case you miss them. End of the game I tried 100% everything aside from super bosses and still had a bunch of gems and affinities missing so had to google where they were. I think the next game the perfect combo would be how this game made exploring give so much rewards to max out abilities but also keep affinity or gem unlocks or accessory equivalent to quests or story progression.

I just beat it an hour ago and of course have not come to a definitive conclusion on how I feel abut it, but would currently say I am... Whelmed. Not underwhelmed, but also not overwhelmed, just... whelmed. It was great, but the final fight (though cinematic and epic) wasn't really as memorable as I would have expected. Overall it was cool, but there's quite a few things I personally miss considering this is supposed to close off a 12-13 year saga. [Heavy Spoilers from here on!] Not a single glimpse at Logos and Pneuma aside from Flashbacks. Na'el not playable, effectively even nerfing chain attacks by making it possible to get a full pair and her during the last command. Not a single picture of the XC1 aged up cast. Not even a possibility to switch to Shulk's short hair which they had ready from the first cutscene. I don't want to sound too negative, I enjoyed it, I guess some friends that beat it before me might have raised my expectations higher than they would have been otherwise.

11:05 Oh boy this is such a big deal to me. I didn’t like X3 base game and was punished for exploring too much. So much so that I couldn’t engage with the hero system. It was a awful experience. Then we get the DLC and I was like a child on Xmas because finally I am being rewarded for being a completionist and exploring every nook and cranny but again these damn extremes! Now gamers who don’t want to explore everything are being punished. Both are completely messed up and infuriating to me. Just allow us a campfire to change our levels from the very beginning and quit forcing players to play a certain way. Let people like me who want to complete a game even if we are over leveled before the boss do that, and let people who don’t want to explore everything not get punished for for not exploring. Respect of different play styles for different people need to be a thing. It can really ruin people’s experience of the game both ways. Future Redeemed was everything I was looking for in 3 base game and didn’t get. I will absolutely be playing it again.

Extremely Mixed feelings. If this truly is the end of the "Klaus" Saga, then it really should've had that one final little scene every other Xenoblade has where we see the heroes living happily in the world they saved. The lack of that drops this from an A or S to a C imo. While it answered a lot of questions we had, such as where Pneuma went, who/what was Ontos' role in all this(though we kinda knew it was Alvis), a very simplistic kinda boring answer for what the Fog and Fogbeasts are, as well as what's causing annihilation events. Questions it didn't answer or are so obscure that most wouldn't notice. What exactly are Mobius(it implied they're the work of Logos' Core or I suppose the "memory" of Logos' Core?), what the hell was the point of the focus on offseeing in the base game? What does offseeing do? Why was it not even mentioned in this DLC, did they just give up on that concept? But the biggest question to me, What happened to all the other characters from 1 and 2? Why are they not present in the system at all? Especially extremely long life ones like Blades and Gramps or the Machina of XC1. The whole thing as pretty as it feels, also feels very rushed and uncertain/unclear. So while I enjoyed it. It doesn't exactly make me feel great about this being the end of the saga. Who knows though, perhaps the next game will take place on the new world and we'll see small glimpses of what became of the earlier game's characters. If not, I'd have to sadly say this ending was a small failure. It'd essentially be like removing the final scenes from XC1 and 2, for context of how bad it hurts XC3 and the series as a whole.

Offseeing was not invented at this point. As for what offseeing does, it's a show and not tell sort of situation. Motes are life data in the form of ether. Yellow means released to Origin which is the color you see when city people die as well as soldiers in the homecoming. Blue means sent back to the cycle which means they'll be reborn as soldiers. Red means data that has not yet been processed. It can either be released by offseeing or absorbed by Moebius or the Ferronis. And with this type of story endings are not always happy. Torna ended with just about everyone dying. This one is more hopeful because even though all of the characters do eventually die, the world is restored at the end. It's also implied that almost everyone died during the first encounter with Alpha. Their souls live on in Lucky 7. Riki died at some other point and was buried. And everyone else probably died or as assimilated from the beginning. Moebius appeared because Origin is essentially a pseudo Conduit. Since it's made up of life data stored in core crystals, the collective fear manifested into Moebius. Since they're from Origin and Origin is managed by Onthos, Onthos is their god. And after Future Redeemed, Z took over as administrator of Origin which is what led to the events of Xenoblade 3.

@@supergamerguy64 Welcome to story telling. Part of it is you're not supposed to be told everything but instead can infer what's happening. Riku says the sword was given to him by Melia and that the souls of important people are inside. Who could he mean? Ronald McDonald? There's a grave for Riki but no graves for anyone else. How could that be? Did they all go to McDonalds? The Conduit has data for all life that's ever existed. Origin has the life data of everyone on Bionis and Alrest inside of it and the one trinity processor that wasn't explicitly cut off from the Conduit managing it. I wonder what that could mean? Z calls Alpha his god. Clearly that's wrong his god must be Ronald McDonald. All the clues that the writer feels that the player needs are there, but this style of writing has never been explicit. Do you also think Glimmer is not Rex and Pyra's daughter despite their union attack having the word Aegis in it? Or Glimmer having Pneuma's core crystal and the same hair color as the baby at the end of 3? Do you need a sticker or her forehead?

You have to remember almost all of the big golden age developers worked under Nintendo, but N64 didn't have the capabilities they wanted for FF7 so they split off to develop on Playstation system instead. But where Square fucked up is they had so many strong IPs back then and killed off pretty much all of them for Final Fantasy except for maybe Dragon Quest which they kept isolated in Japan. But then they killed Final Fantasy also and it's only now that franchise is coming back but they still have to fight against their parent company who would rather gamble with NFTs than create successful projects.
