As a Russian guy, even though i'm not that into skateboarding (i'm bmx guy but hey we're kinda in the same family) - i absolutely liked this vid from the beginning to the end. That's sick! I'm from the US and I haven't seen a walking tour of current-day Russia before. Especially one that is from a non-news affiliated source before. Our government and history just paint all of Russia as "bad." They don't perpetuate looking into things further. They just want you to take their opinions at face value. They love generalizing entire countries, groups of people, etc. Which isn't fair and is utterly unnecessary. Our news, unfortunately, focuses on all the horrible stuff that happens. I try to consume news through alternate means other than through the television because of how negative and one-sided it tends to get at times. I appreciate you speaking candidly about your experiences there and it definitely made me curious to look into it further myself. It looks beautiful, honestly! I feel like people don't take the time to research other cultures and traditions as much as they should sometimes and question those "calling the shots for us all." Sure there are actually bad people everywhere but not everyone is like that! And I hope more people start to realize that soon. I edited this slightly because of people questioning how I worded what was originally posted. Just to clarify for them what I meant. I appreciate everyone who actually already understood what I had initially written instead of assuming.

I think it's important to remember that a countries government is not it's people. Especially in places like Russia or China where the average citizen has very little say over what the gov does. Even in the USA we didn't have any say over Bush lying about weapons of mass destruction and invading the middle east. So we can't paint a whole countries people and culture by the choices their govt makes.

YT is fine. It allows Russians to watch vids without ads (that’s why you don’t get the revenue). But the day before yesterday they canceled Sasha meets Russia. An American girl moved to Russia and created the channel. Her videos had this Hollywood vibe to them; only the location was different. She got 80K subs in a year. From this incident, I should conclude that no one will ever know Russia as it is. Only stereotyped youtubers (including Russians themselves) are allowed to stay. Any resemblance to the civilization gets arased by the media. And it didn’t start 2 years ago. I read comments from 4-5 years ago, and it was the same. I do not have the slightest hope. Not after this. She NEVER talked politics. She made good positive videos. She said, they’d canceled her without a warning or explanation. So, it’s not up to the Americans to reach out. When they do, the system stops them. Your video was recommended to me after watching “Journey of Azz” - another Australian who went to Russia and is still there (here). I live in St. Pete. I’ve never been to Kazan. It’s a very interesting video. You’re all great skaters. Getting the tottoes was sick. You were the only sane person in the room. As for deleting the pics of the security gurds - they have no right to ask that of citizens of the RF. You can always tell them where they could go. As for foreigners - I’m not sure. I’m sorry for that. I guess they aren’t helping their “case” with such behavior.

Yeah. It's Sasha Meets Russia and Russian Code. On the other hand, i saw many pro-Ukrainian channels that are violating many possible KZfaq community guidelines, and they don't care. For example, they can show literal g*re, and are almost always calling for hatred. When you type "Russia" in the search bar, all you get is pro-Western political videos. So it's a miracle that these pro-Russian videos are even still getting any amount of views on KZfaq, despite the biased algorithm.

@@Nikolay_Bredak Thanks for showing us your true colors, maybe you should just shut up next time if you want to be convincing about being supposedly "good people". This is not the "got you" you think it is. NATO is a defensive pact. It is obvious to everyone (including you) why Ukraine wants to join and Russia has proven time and time again that they will invade any country that wants to be disassociated with Russia and its past. And no, ukrainian leadership did not want this war, they were well on their way into stronger cooperation with the EU and growing their GDP. But no, Russia couldn't let that happen. They would rather kill their neighbours and erase their history than to lose control of yet another ex soviet country. A few rebels in another country who associate with your culture is not a justification to invade that country causing far more harm to civilians than it would have otherwise. The issue is not your government, it is the collective mindset that the majority of russians have. 90% of Russians I have encountered online and in real life have been complete asshats, perhaps that's why no one likes you :). Maybe it is time for you to learn how to integrate with the rest of the world instead of isolating yourselves and ruining your own future. Also, no need to bring up the imperialistic past of other nations as an excuse for Russias invasion of Ukraine. It only proves my point further, thanks.

What you say about the possible “friendship” is bs. YT deletes channels that promote that as Sasha meets Russia and Russian Code. Sasha’s “last” words were, “USA and Russia”, in her last video, word for word. Meaning, “let’s all be friends”. The Russian Code interviewed everyone who moved to Russia, especially from the West. Both cnannels - deleted (by YT).
