Yeah my opinion is the character Cory should not have been in this movie when a franchise is supposedly ending that is not the time to introduce new character. It took away so much potential time from Laurie and Michael Meyers which is the core relationship to these movies.

I was legit heartbroken. Like I looked at my best friend in the middle of it and said, "are we being punked". Like it felt like they made a whole different movie and spliced the real end at the ending.

I agree with you so much. Ive always loved horror movies. Grew up on Michael, Jason, Freddy, Chucky ect and i was so excited to see it and i was so disappointed. It was so horrible! They really dropped the ball. The story line didnt really go with the last movie and it was more of this twisted love story. It wasnt good.

*spoiler warning* Peter I agree, but the way I interpreted it, when Michael and Corey first met and they had that long eye contact scene, it seemed to me like Michael cursed Cory or somehow passed on something dark to him. Corey seemed to be "the chosen one" that Michael spared to be his student. So, my theory is, now that we've seen that Michael has some sort of supernatural power, he can potentially return in 10 new movies as an actual boogeyman, even though they destroyed his old body. Maybe the original story is over, but I have a feeling the franchise isn't. It reminded me SO much of that awful Friday the 13th movie where they destroyed Jasons body, so he jumped from person to person and you never really saw the real Jason at all. I didn't get how the granddaughter suddenly turned so dark, and almost seemed thrilled when she started to suspect that Corey was a madman. It didn't seem logical to me that her character would respond like that - I know she wanted to get back at her grandmother, but still, it seemed very extreme, especially for someone with a story like hers. It was just a terrible movie in every way!

I’m not even going to bother with this movie. The last two were absolutely abysmal. And the most recent one before this new one, I kept thinking the movie was about these people shooting a movie of Halloween, based on the AWFUL acting and writing. Personally, apart from the original in the 70s, Rob Zombie’s Halloweens were my favorites.

I was supposed to watch it with my Mom the next day (FRIDAY the 14th)-but my mom passed away in her sleep....Peter I’m broken and devastated and I just wanted you to know me and mom used to watch your channel together. Have him tattooed on my arm, figures around my house, pillows, blankets, etc. I don’t think they should’ve marketed this as the “end.” But intelligent and logical people know that this movie brings in Universal around 80 million in profits per movie, so if y’all think another movie studio won’t make a bid to make another Halloween after this, y’all are dumb. This was the end of the TRIOLOGY Blumhouse created, it was never meant to actually end the entire franchise. From the original 1978, Michael is referred to as “the shape,” so as you claim there were no callbacks (the entire movie is an homage to Season of the witch), the movie touches on the fact that the shape is evil and it morphed into Corey. I take great issue with people who simply hated this movie just because it wasn’t what THEY expected. It’s not about you. This is the THIRTEENTH movie in the franchise, and Halloween kills literally went balls to the walls with kills. Get over it. It’s a movie. It won’t be the last. You have 12 other movies to watch if this movie really “angered you.” Some of y’all in the comments need help if it really affected your lives that much. Move on.

Sounds like they should have gone back to the basics of the very first one kinda made it full circle. Probably would have made more people happy and mention the main characters from first one. Might have helped it

I want a movie do over. Let’s just act like she had written this for her book but it didn’t really happen that way. I am so disappointed it ended this way. I have to wonder if the writer’s of the movie were even fans of the franchise. I wanted a epic show down that had been 40 yrs in the making. I am in the minority wishing Rob Zombie could have done the final ending. I did love his take on the characters. He couldn’t have done anything close to this bad with it.

Peter, I seen it last night and I have loved Halloween so much my entire life. I’ve been obsessed with it for as long as I can remember. I walked out so angry and disappointed. That ending was just not good. 2018 was really enjoyable I don’t get why they didn’t give us Michael and Laurie the entire movie when that’s what we wanted

I thought the 2018 Halloween was pretty well done and there were a lot of good kills and really suspenseful moments that reminded me of 1978. They should have made the 2018 Halloween, Halloween Ends and been done with it. They are busting out too many follow up movies trying to make quick money grabs and it shows.

They screwed it up. Half the movie was a love story. The storyline of Cory made no sense, didn't add anything to the value of the movie at all.

Since this was to be the final installment of the Halloween movies, I was completely disappointed. They made Michael a feeble extra in his own movie. I didn't mind the end so much. I just wish Michael had been a badass slaughter king all though the movie with epic rampage kills building up the the final face to face with him and Laurie.

I love the original from the 70s as well. It just seems like all these sequels are just low budget money grabs. I’m so glad I didn’t waste my money on this one. Sounds like a huge disappointment. The worst 2 in the franchise were the one with Busta Rhymes & Season of the Witch. Horrible! Excited to hear your thoughts on The Watcher. I watched it over the weekend.

i just watched it on peacock. i was nervous going in from all the negative comments that have come up about it. Ppl saying its stupid an so on. I think it should have had more Michael for sure. But i think you should try and rewatch it again on peacock. See what you think without the distractions around. I liked the flashbacks to the original in 78. I think between Laurie Strode and michael could have been more epic, or i thought maybe both would die at the same time. but, overall i liked it! id probably watch it in theaters after seeing it now at home. But i think maybe try and rewatch it and see if your less disappointed. I was sad to see the end to Michael, but because of corey was cheering for him I guess lol. I was happy to see him go :D

Honestly, I think that's why I can't get into this franchise. It's overblowing a story of psychopathic murderer. Now I say this as I love the Chucky franchise. Which I think needs an end too. Michael Myers, simplified, is boring. It's a common trait that we see in true crime murders. But predictable.

The granddaughter is definitely pregnant with the next Micheal Myers. I thought it was obvious.

To be fair, I thought the entire trilogy was garbage. They weakened the Laurie and sidelined her. The new characters didn't work, and they could never decide what they wanted Michael to be. They act as if they have these great ideas about horror and real life, but nothing is consistent or makes sense. A wasted opportunity.

There's a lot of shite movies out there these days. I recently watched the latest Scream movie and was completely taken out of it after a teenager was nearly STABBED TO DEATH and her mom was "stuck at a work conference". Like wtf? They couldnt come up with an actual legit reason for a parent to NOT rush to their child who was just almost murdered? Mom couldn't leave her work conference?? And that was in the first 20 minutes. What a pile of shit. And multiple characters get severely wounded, and yet theyre totally fine at the end, sitting around the ambulance wearing blankets, chit-chatting.

OK so I have loved these movies since I was a kid and it sounded like she was going to die from boredom before anything else got her! This is so d*** disappointing to the point that it pisses me off! I have absolutely loved these movies since my childhood and I was born when the 1st movie was made. To know that this is how it all ends, are you freaking kidding me? What a waste of time I'm so glad I didn't watch it or spend my money on it.

I don't mind psychological horrors of if evil is either by nature or nurture. But Halloween, a movie revolving around kills by the Michael Myers, is NOT that movie. The directors focused so much on the message through Corey, that they legitimately forgot the main character of the whole franchise. So disappointing.

I agree with your review! I felt the same about the movie. I was quite underwhelmed and disappointed. I was waiting also for some explosion. We likened it to a chick flick, focusing on the love stories between characters more than a horror movie.

I thought it was a cute Rom Com and then it was also a Halloween movie. This was bizarre and awful but… that was what I thought was fun

After seeing an interview with Jamie Lee Curtis about this movie & the theme that Laurie’s counselling/trauma therapy being so different now from in the late 1970’s ( the first film) .I see what they were trying to do. If you saw these 3 films & no others they are ok but if you were a fan ( like me) of all/most of the movies it was a let down. I was expecting a far ‘bigger’ film like Peter did. 🎃💜💜💜💜🎃

Couldn’t agree more! My partner I watched it at home and I paused it at 36 mins to see how long it had been without seeing Michael. I didn’t enjoy halloween kills and I know others didnt also so I was really hoping this one would redeem itself but it really flopped. I can’t believe Michael was so weak! I know he got really beat up in the last one but his thing is being invincible! That’s what makes him so funny and the series so great, he can’t stay down, literally.

i absolutely loved it lmao. and i’m a long time halloween fan. i thought corey was great, laurie is more like herself in the original movie than ever, michael is still terrifying as hell. i was so happy to have a fresh new prospective and i thought it was done so well. i think if you want halloween 1978, go watch halloween 1978.

I’m one of those fans with a Michael tattoo and I actually liked it! It was reminiscent of the original idea that these movies weren’t intended to be an entire series based off of the same characters and meant to be more of an anthology! I liked that the title cards were blue and in the same font as Halloween 3: Season of the Witch (which didn’t had Michael in it at all) I felt that it was fun, different, and finally not just Laurie running away and Michael killing. That being said I completely understand that it wasn’t the finale everyone was expecting! I agree there could have been a bigger pay off but I did leave the theater happy! Love your reviews!

I’m surprised you don’t like it bc it’s a story about catharsis, trauma and healing. I enjoyed it. I liked the deep questions it was asking. We’ve gotten the blood, gore and kills w the first two. I don’t get why they wasted time on the story of Cory just to kill him off but I enjoyed the parallels they drew between how he was treated in Haddonfield and Laurie etc.

Not sure why Hollywood seems so hell-bent on ruining franchises or making crappy remakes that just disappoint super fans. I love the idea you suggested of giving some fans input on how the story they loved should end. I'm a super fan of Star Wars and the sequel trilogy was absolutely nothing like I imagined it would be. I wanted to see the original characters together again and I was hoping for some serious emotional drama and honorable send-offs with them, and some interesting new characters that could maybe continue the story. I don't even know what tf the filmmakers were thinking with those movies. Boring, pointless, nonsensical, ignoring or insulting longtime fans...it seems like this is happening to more and more franchises and it is so frustrating 😭

Peter I completely agree with you, introducing this Cory character out of no where and then literally allowing the entire movie to be centered around him... What the hell?? We are here for Michael Myers not some knock off version. This movie felt like a send off to Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie, which would be fine, but maybe do that as your second movie in the trilogy and then have the last movie be all about the final showdown. Because no one coming to a Halloween movie with JLC wants to see only 1 battle between Michael and Laurie. This was not it for me. And you know they'll reboot the series in a couple of years with a new story that wipes out the entire trilogy that just wrapped up. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the Watcher!

In theatres it was so fun, we had the moving seats, people screaming and cheering at the throwbacks and easter eggs. It made me think I liked it more than I did. It was on my 2nd watch where it fell apart. I don't think I will watch it again. I wouldn't have cared if this was a random entry in the franchise, but this should not have been "Halloween Ends".

You are so right. People have forgotten what made the original Halloween so good in the 1st place which is being a low budget slasher horror with a very open ended/lack of story. Just some deranged dude, maybe supernatural, maybe not, that's killing ppl. Thats why terrifier 2 is getting good reviews while this is very mixed.
