You don't show the build up. The whole reason he isn't looking at the ball when you start your analasis is because Harry Kane's arms were all over him prior to the ball coming in you see this on the camera behind the cross but not on the one they kept replaying behind kane as they came into shot after the initial foul on Ben. Try looking at the whole thing not just parts that push your narrative. If the previous hadn't happened VAR would have given a penalty.

I don’t have a narrative Craig (I’m an Everton fan so feel sorry for me!) and of course I saw the whole video. Yes Kane and Mee have a bit of a wrestle prior to the ball coming in but you cannot manhandle someone like that in the penalty area and get away with it. Perspective and bias will always mean different opinions, that’s normal.

I feel like it's very tough to be consistent. If VAR intervenes for every foul similar to this and sends referee to the monitor then the flow of the game will break more often making the game less enjoyable in the process. It would be best if VAR only sticks to offside and give referee overall power as before. Only If referee makes a huge error (more kind of biased decision), only then VAR will intervene directly.

It’s a fair point and one that most fans would agree with. We don’t want the play stopping every 30 seconds; this is not American football. It’s tough finding the right balance between intervention and letting the game flow. Always going to be differences of opinion.

Right. Fans, players, coaches will likely be more accepting of mistakes IF refs are simply consistent with these types of decisions

Argentina's match against Croatia, they say that the first penalty goal was the result of a goal kick that was invalid, the ball had hit an Argentine soccer player for what must have been a corner kick against Croatia, is this true?

I believe this is correct; I remember watching that game. There is no VAR check or change of decision for small matters like corners, even if the decision leads to a goal.

It was a penalty based on the situation. Alvarez got the ball first and keeper collided with him and prevented him from going further. People have different opinions and I get that but 95% of referees are giving a foul in that situation.

Also, I'm a huge Messi/Argentina fan and I'm glad they won, idk if you have any bias towards or against Argentina, but do you think the conspiracy theories about the wc being rigged for ARG has any merit? Like with the referees potentially showing favoritism towards ARG or did they just get lucky?

I’m English; zero bias towards Arg or France! I think Argentina seemed to get some favorable decisions by refs and VAR but they also played very well and deserved to win it IMO.

@@PaulSpacey Don't forget how France got a lot of favorable decisions as well....It's obvious that you need some favourable decisions to make it into the finals of a world cup

For sure; you need some luck and decisions to go your way. Sometimes it feels like destiny for a certain team or player to win something and everything seems to go their way. Liverpool vs Milan Champions League. Man United Bayern Munich same thing.

The French are making online signatures for the World Cup final to be repeated, they have achieved 200,000 so far, they say that the one they gave Messi was not a penalty, and that Mbappe was fouled on the second play of Di María's goal. Suppose they are right, can FIFA repeat a final based on confirmed refereeing errors?

I understand the French being angry. England were angry when we lost to France 😄 but no, the laws of the game provide no remedy to replay once the game is over.

I can only find this regarding a statement they made when Henry clearly handled the ball which put Ireland out of the World Cup. No replay was allowed. Perhaps if there was something major like proof of bribe of a referee but not because one team believes the ref made poor decisions 🤔😅
