Atomic Collision Nintendo can’t really do shit to emulators themselves, as they don’t technically do anything illegal on their own You can find most emulators just by looking them up. Citra’s apparently the best 3DS emulator from what I’ve heard. The real issue is finding ROMs since a lot of ROM sites are being taken down. r/Roms on reddit is a pretty easy place to find ROMs, though-there’s usually a repository somewhere near the top of the page. If you want to be legal about it, though, you could always just dump the ROMs onto your computer from the cartridge. For other consoles: Dolphin is the best GameCube emulator by far, being able to run Wind Waker without issue even on my shitty computer, and No$GBA is my go-to for GBA emulation on PC. (It also supports DS emulation in a limited form, though it doesn’t seem to be able to do save states for DS and I can’t get in-game saves to work for the life of me.) Options for Android are fairly limited by the relatively low processing power of phones, but DraStic is a great DS emulator (albeit one you have to pay for) and John GBA is a good GBA emulator.

Running out of Magic in the Pirate’s Fortress sucks. I also hate that they moved Shiro there. The Stone Mask is most useful in the Fortress, yes, but I liked that you had to go out of your way to get it first, you had to work for it, know ahead of time. Now it’s basically just handed to you. Unless, of course, you ran out of Magic, and now it’s nigh impossible to get the mask without leaving the Fortress to get more Magic!

Shiro's original spot at the Road to Ikana rewarded exploration without rushing the intended order of the game. Really, anyone playing organically had a decent chance of exploring each cardinal direction and taking note of the barrier. The initial barrier to the coast and ikana is epona - ikana further being gated by hookshot, then ice arrows. Placing shiro with the pirates is a way of trying to spoonfeed it to you. MM is also exceptionally replayable for a zelda game in my opinion, on both a small and large scale - or rather, I should say the game experience can be different depending on how you play. Heck, a player who has less than 4 bottles and is unable to finish the pirate's fortress in one go may decide to spend time exploring once finding the hookshot. In the case you didn't see shiro in ikana initially, but you did see that you needed the hookshot to progress, you get another opportunity to organically visit and potential spot shiro - rewarding you with the stone mask for your return visit. Kinda lost focus on the point as I rambled on, but I think it's just such a shame for shiro to be there. Not even considering the *why* of shiro being in the fortress. A place that is prohibitively difficult to get into, and two steps removed from clock town where all of the guards are, compared to being reasonably far at the road to ikana
@jaydenc36711 ай бұрын

@jaydenc36711 ай бұрын
@@Xarenth But it could still be missed and it would be annoying and tedious to go back. But it is still natural and organic exploration. What if they already got the hookshot though? Yet he is invisibly so he could clearly get in.
@mrfoxly683310 ай бұрын
@@jaydenc367No it could not be missed. When you get near him, Tatl alerts you that something is nearby. The game basically holds your hand, telling you he’s there. If that’s not enough, a gossip stone outside the fortress straight up tells you, you need the Lens of Truth to see him. (The original kept things more obscure simply saying you need eyes that can see the truth to find him. Any player with a brain could connect the dots from there)

It's because they were bold enough to make interesting changes and people are entitled and too stubborn to appreciate new things. I think this version is far superior overall. A few very minor dumb changes, like stopping platforms from moving and nerfing Zora Link, aren't near enough to make me consider otherwise. @@IonSquared You are entitled to have your wrong opinion :) No but for real, most of what is said in this video I agree with, and for me the biggest issue is how it seems like the game lost its soul, its all bright and clean when the original game had a very heavy dark atmosphere that really sold the feeling of despair from the world being on the verge of destruction. But for some people the changes are good, I personally would play the original one over this anyway so it doesnt really affect me too much.

the review wasnt that good. as a person criticizing a remake, you should always compare everything, all the changes and make that aware of the viewer. all content related stuff, gameplay etc. i get a lot of the points he makes which the og did better than the remake, but the remake does so many things so much better, a lot of subtle tweaks or huge things that make the game more accessible for more people (which i should remind that nintendo advertise games for children). as a person who played both, some of the issues he had i didnt at all (bomber running, deku on water) a review is mostly subjective-based, your case should always stand more on objective things that even a person who loves the game to death, should be able to agree with. (the bomber and deku stuff imo is a more weaker objective view because it’s not as glaringly obvious) objective stuff should always be viewable not just comparing, but seeing the game by itself. the remake may have thrown some of the magic away in return for some more quality of life changes (tweaks to the bombers notebook the song of double time gyroscope aiming) but that doesn’t inherently make it a ‘bad’ remake

Triple A games aren't made for niche audiences anymore. They instead are only made for the lowest common denominator, the majority, "mass appeal." A game like Majora's Mask is something that only some people have the patience for. The problem is that those of us who liked it didn't just like it, we loved it. This was the first Zelda game that I ever took the time to 100%. Whatever its niche was, it fit me perfectly. The idea of resetting time and again to do everything perfectly appealed to me. Having a higher difficulty, less straightforward Zelda game suited that style of play. If Triple A studios can no longer make niche games, then they're doomed to lose their market share to Indie companies that do.

You know something is wrong when you'd rather use Zora to swim through toxic water while getting hurt than use Deku scrub to jump on the lilypads. The 3Ds remake makes it more tedious to do things, when it shouldn't be. All of the points about the bosses and especially about Zora swimming are 100% accurate. I'm not on the same page about the Woodfall temple boss though, since by the time I got there, I had never known to use Deku scrub to attack enemies through the flowers. Embarrasingly for the developers, the boss just danced and let me just scoot right up behind it to spank its sins away, very underwhelming. The Bomber hints were also usually pretty useless since the environment already gave those hints. Overall, I do wish I had known about how bad some of the changes were, so I could have waited to get the Restoration Mod.

Mostly pretty good, but I have a few criticisms. The new save system and added brightness are a bit necessary for a 3DS title. Outdoor light conditions can make it hard to see the screen, and dark lighting would make it even worse. As for the saving, the original save system, While it’s unique and works well for the original game, it doesn’t mesh well with the 3DS. It’s prone to surprise turn offs from being dropped, losing power, etc. With MM’s original save system, or even the one from the US version, people might constantly lose progress because of this reason. The 3ds is also prone to potentially shorter play sessions from its target audience compared to the 1-2 Hour length of MM’s 3 days. It requires a commitment that the 3ds just isn’t made for. Putting it short, this remake shouldn’t have been on the 3DS, and was only on it because OOT’s was. And the D-pad masks isn’t a great idea. Just make them actual item slots. It’s a better use of it compared to always having the 3 masks, of which you’re usually only using one, maybe 2 of.

@@lukebytes5366 they're not minor. The Deku hopping is a flaw in general, not just from the standpoint of comparing the original to the remake. The zora swimming is extremely boring compared to the original, which, in a video game, is a pretty big flaw. The boss fights were much more interesting and varied in the original, which, again, is more fun. That's not a minor flaw. I played through the remake once and I would never again play through it unless I was using the restoration mod. Besides that, I just play the original. Which is a shame, because I love the visuals, aside from the over-brightening. So the fact that fans of the original still play the original or the restoration mod, kinda shows that these flaws aren't minor.

I love how Majora's Mask is considered a masterpiece by anyone ever, ( which it is, the game is a legendary for being so different and meaningful) and then creator Eiji Aonuma goes and says "at the time, I think there was something wrong with me..." I'm still so thankful that it even happened. The new BOTW sequel is said to be getting the "Majora's Mask" treatment even though it has nothing to do with Majora's Mask, I do hope the BOTW sequel has that same meaningful real effect as Majora's Mask did.

Another problem that I have that you didn't mention is the 3rd day. Yes the other days look perfect and better in my opinion in the 3D version, however the night of the 3rd day takes away from the atmosphere. The fiery sky is great but the fact that the sun never comes back up takes away from the atmosphere. In the original nature still took its natural course even though the world of Termina was fixing to be destroyed. The sun still came up as if another day was fixing to shine. On the 3D version it remains night even at 5 AM making the world feel less real and immersive.
