Man those Man U teams from like 04-10 were just hard nose warriors with immense skill (Vidic and Ferdinand in the back, Scholesy and giggs in the middle, Rooney and Ronaldo in the front: sprinkle in Nani and Park and some of them other boys.) It was a wild time. My favourite CB of all time and part of the greatest defensive partnership of all time.

Loved vidic and ivanovic, serbia had some absolute tanks for defenders back in the day. Those two and Terry are the reason im a defender now (originally started out as a physical striker but these three men made me go to cdm and eventually cb, there style of defending makes playing in defence the most enjoyable position in football by far)

Vidic and Stam are my top 2 defenders. Both of them could stop a train. And the amazing defenders from Italy Nesta and Maldini are close on 3rd n 4th. Puyol is 5th. I know there are lots more great defenders, but i dont think they dominate as much as these 5. They put fear in strikers' eyes n i bet all the great strikers wouldnt want to go right pass them. Its better to avoid them.

it is a really unfair comparison, one came from a mother and father and is only human, the other was carved out of a mountain somewhere in Serbia, created with no sense of fear or self preservation. Only reason he did not win a ballandore is he was playing while both Messi and Ronaldo were in there prime. If he was playing in his prime now a days honestly believe he would of won more than 1.

his medals speak for themselves. plenty of players have come for 2 or 3 years. 5 premier league titles, thats an icon. if vidic was english they would give him the respect he deserves. extended ferdinands career by 5 years also; dont know how people consider john terry the best of his time. vidic anyday for me

There is no comparison. Vidic is 10 times better than Van dijk of Liverpool. Vidic was the best defender in the Premier league. There is no one even comes close to Vidic even today. A Pure genuine fearless Defender.

Was Vidic better than VVD? That shouldn't even be a question. VVD is good. But he is never going to be on the same level as what Vidic was. As RVP once said, "Nemanja puts his head where players wouldn't put their feet." Vidic was playing at a time when there were world-class CBs playing around Europe. Who right now is a World CB? VVD is probably the best one right now. But he wouldn't even be in the top 5 or 10 back when Vidic was around. Him and Rio were in the top 5 together. The only few i can think of who were better were Puyol and Pique (and I am not sure if he was better than Vidic. But with Puyol, they were amazing). Maybe Ramos? Nesta?. To me, personally. Vidic is the all-time. great in the PL era. And yes. I think better than Stam. Only because Stam was sold and didn't play as much in the PL as Vidic. If he did. Then Stam would be the greatest ever PL CB ever

Muppet. Van dijk never won ballon d’or. They don’t compare. Vidic won premier player of the year twice as a defender. Set clean sheet records. Won five league titles. No comparison
