Amid the political slugfest over the Agnipath scheme, the Indian Army has contradicted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s claims that the family of Agniveer Ajay Kumar, who died in a landmine blast this January, did not get any compensation. Deputy Editor Snehesh Alex Philip explains.

Focus should be on having few people fighting effectively, with good equipment. Not on sending large number of people with poor equipment, letting them die and then compensating their lives with money. We should avoid deaths, and use the money to make their life better by investing in infrastructure, healthcare and education.

This is my view I think agniveer should be there with additional benefits but apart from that i think there should be a parallel recruitment for people who want to join army after the age of 22 - 23 for 4 years or 5 years and they should not be given chance to serve whole tenure or a very short percentage of them should. This way a graduate who wants to explore or serve nation will have chance and will be back to regular life before 30. The reason why i said this is because a teen who is joining for agniveer is looking for life and the pool of those who just want to serve will be very minimal. On the other hand a 23 24 year old joining the force will have a pure motivation of serving the country. Plus they could get the benefit of understanding arms and be much more equipped with technical elements

Just s hut up, before supporting this kind of false claims you should know that the family already received 98.3 lacs as compensation , you may tell that insurance and compensation is different but you should know that the compensation is paid in the form of insurance as the premium is paid by government as there is no detection for insurance from agniveer salary

You seem to be telling the half truth. It's like a short Service with good benefits. Do those in compulsory military Service in USA get any pension. RAGA seems to be your favourite. Who ever pays it's paid through the govt. Scheme. Insurance scheme is integral part of agniveer. A long Service or short Service choice is of an individual. Your congress govt pays differently for different regious victims. Even today karnataka govt discontinued relihious pilgrimage subsidy to Hindus and continued for jihadi muslims. That seems to be okay for tfeee roughe channels like mjnt, print, wire and likes.

Insurance payment can't be considered any govt benefit. Both payments are insurance one from SBI and another sainik group insurance. Father of the shaheed clearly said that the sainik group insurance payment was made yesterday, means after Rahul raised the issue. It is clear that Rajnath Singh lied on the floor of the house. No compensation was given by the govt. This cheating our proud martiers and their families. He must resign or must be expelled from the parliament. Somebody file an FIR for public misrepresentation please.

Insurance cannot be called "Compensation". Ex-Gratia itself means payment made out of the bounds of law. For eg. after Hathras tragedy the State Gov. has announced 2 Lakh ex-gratia

Insurance amount is not compensation. Middle class families themselves are having 50Lakhs- 1Crore insurance policies these days.. Also Agniveer person died sacrificed in January, while this is July and still family is not paid non-insurance amount.. If army pays for the insurance, it is compensation. Who writes the cheques doesn’t matter, if it is not the agniveer who has to pay for it. These have been part of package computations for so long in private sector, how are you not aware of this? Stop creating conspiracy theories, every govt dept is slow. This should be verifiable and has been confirmed by the family, and if you are not happy about it don’t join as agniveer.

@@avinashprasad12 you are dumb to not understand that every organisation offers insurance plan for employees and it is part of the package. Doesn't mean company pays it freely. Employee is accepting the insurance cost in his salary. It is just not reflected in their salary. And insurance varies with gold plan silver plan which employee can upgrade too based on their needs. Learn the difference between insurance money and paying lumpsome money from your own pocket.

Every company gives insurance for their employees which employee can modify with gold plan silver plan also and it is part of CTC. Compensation means paying from own pocket from funds left in company's own account. just check cost of insurance plan for 1Crore.. 7k-11k p.a. for person aged 20yrs. Fun fact they have had this insurance for the last 25 years. 😊 . My father is in State service and he has Medical insurance fully paid by the state gov. in case of death during service since 1995. Good thing all of them would be receiving pensions once they retire after 35-40 years of service. Thank you Mr. Super intelligent sir. @@iaf010 That's 48 Lacs. The other component of 50 Lacs has been paid by the bank which is also an insurance from the Bank. You know how much a regular Sainik gets ? And the state gov of Punjab have given 1cr. to the family. That is what should be called compensation. The thing which you are referring to as Ex-gratia is a legal requirement as per Military service rules. The Ex-Gratia component should be the payment other than the insurance. I knew very well that Gappu brigade doesn't understand the meaning of Ex-gratia but would come to bark. The ex-gratia amount would be the 67 Lac which the family is yet to receive.
