A new era on PS2. I had fun going back to this one, it's definitely one of the most nostalgic WWE games for me. What did you think of SVR?

NBA Street Vol 2 and Def jam vendetta came out in 2003. That year was really stacked with tons of great games!

I think this game suffered from Lesnar and Goldberg absence. Like they wrestled on most of the shows present in this game. From Vengeance 2003 all the way to WMXX. So leaving them out feels something just missing..

This game truly was one of the most hyped up games at the time of its release. The whole SmackDown Vs Raw brand warfare being implemented into a video game truly sounded spectacular. And although this game didn’t feel like a true sequel on the same level as SVR 2006 and felt like a clone of HCTP, but with slightly updated roster and that, it still was a very fun time, and although 2004’s roster wasn’t the best, at least it still had enough big names to make it worthwhile. The Season mode was absolutely wild and lastly, the licensed soundtrack kicks so much ass, and still does today.😁 Overall, still a fun game today, but not as much as other games. Still doesn’t stop me from popping this one in from time to time. Thanks for the nostalgia, homie.😁👍

I think from the original to 2008, those were the golden years for this series. It still was good until the end, but GM mode being introduced on the 2006 version, and the career modes on those ones are GOATED.

SvR was a huge part of my childhood. Everyday after school lol. And 04 Michael Vick was godly.

It was preceded and succeded by much better games HTCP and SVR 2006, but a solid foundation for the Smackdown vs Raw series.

I always love the meta of Day of Reckoning 1. I believe that game has the best multiplayer experience when it comes to play with multiple people and the controls were top notch with the GameCube controller

Nah it wasn’t overlooked in my opinion. It was a good game but it didn’t have much that distinguished it from HCTP. The gameplay was exactly the same with little features added and a lot removed. Plus the roster was so diminished. Good but not as good as Here Comes the Pain before it or Smackdown vs Raw 2006 after it

Smackdown vs Raw was fun during the PlayStation 2 era. I think Smackdown vs Raw started to hit their stride when Smackdown vs Raw 2007 got released and the star power was incredible. Not Here Comes The Pain level but incredible.

I loved this game, While i get that it's not as good as HCTP. It's still one of my favourite. And it had my favourite soundtrack of the series. Alone, Falling apart, Firefly just playing on the background. Good times...

2003 was the peak of the ps2 so many classics came out that year ssx, def jam vendetta, nba street vol 2, sonic heroes and all the games he mentioned at the beginning of the video. Good times💯

2 things I remember about SVR, the roster felt a bit weaker than HCTP and they changed the gameplay in royal rumble. I always hated how royal rumble became a button mash or press game mode than the simple punch/kick elimination. For the roster, I think has to do with losing the cover star and one of the most OP wrestlers ever in a video game in Brock Lesnar. Also losing Goldberg who was another OP video game wrestler hurt too. I forgot but you mentioned that Stone Cold wasn't in SVR too.

I still remember the commercial with Stacy Keibler and Torrie Wilson. I didn't have a PS2 back then so I missed out on this one but I did get Day of Reckoning which did share soundtracks with this game.

Fun story, I started watching wrestling In 2005 and at the time they were advertising SVR06 I begged my parents for SVR06, It was christmas eve so we could open one present so I grabbed the one that looked the most like a game, I ripped It open and.. It was the original SVR.. I was disapointed they got me the wrong game but glad I finally had a wrestling game other than WM21 for xbox So I played SVR all night that night, unlocked some legends, created ppvs and In the morning I opened SVR06 so It was a double win

I enjoyed the season mode the soundtrack got me into rock music

I've been enjoying Smackdown vs Raw and people says it's the best game to play

This game and SVR 2008 lacked a lot of content yet they were so fun.

It was a great game but the career mode was too short 😩

The biggest turn off to me was taking out the ability to go backstage during the matches. I can't believe it took until 17 to get that back. Other than that it's a cool game.

The original SVR was a good game. I really loved the soundtrack especially when played in matches. The small roster really hurt it though. Big name wrestlers were gone. Alot of them.

I remember I couldn't play this with my parents being around because of the strippers in the menu that you could not disable

And don't forget Final Fantasy X-2 And NASCAR Thunder 2004 those are also my favorite games 👌 along with Smackdown HCTP.

The roster took a huge hit No Lesnar No Goldberg No Steiner No Nash This was the game they started removing moves with no proper replacement in some cases They removed create a animation No Winning poses/Attacks after the match Free roam backstage areas Couldn’t go for any title besides the World title and Upper Mid card Create a belt was a cool idea and then they made the belts expensive asf and glitchy It’s also sandwiched between two of the greatest PS2 wrestling games at that. I actually remember playing it for a week or two and alternating between this game and HCTP I had never done that before usually after the new game I wouldn’t touch the old one for awhile. They clearly had a couple missteps trying to implement voice acting and online while removing so many things that we loved.

It didn’t have GM mode. 06 and 07 wee just better in everyway

i hate people who dont like the older games because "the graphics arent good", like honestly i would much rather play a game such as here comes the pain or a svr game which is great in every way, than play a newer game which is just a watered down version of the older ones but with better graphics.

This Game is awesome the soundtrack is awesome Firefly when worlds collide chasing after by Tantric last night on earth by powerman 5000 are easily the best songs on the game the season mode so Much fun the Divas dancing on the Main menu was great overall this game is so much fun to play I still Have this game and i play it all the time.

It’s a fun game, but two main things hold It back from greatness 1) the roster. As you mention, many people missing 2) I don’t like the lighting. Compared to HCTP, it is very dark looking and doesn’t pop as much. The chamber match in particular is very dark and takes away the fun

Unpopular Opinion: I believe The Season Modes from The Smackdown games were a big influence on Universe Modes.

Yuke's keyframe animations were so wiggly back then. I'm glad they're a bit more like the Day of Reckoning and AKI/No Mercy keyframe animations.

We didn't get Cactus Jack but we DID get Mankind, so we do at least get Mick Foley represented in some form.

Firefly is WWE Day of Reckoning for me. Though both games shared theor soundtrack with Wrestlemania 21 on Xbox. Day of Reckoning didn't have the Powerman 5000 tracks, tho. Probably because of disc space. Powerman 5000 makes me think of getting jumped in the locker room and all those other SVR story mode cutscenes.

I just a season mode on my channel. And besides the ending storyline, it wasn’t very good. The game had a lot of potential that eventually went into SVR2006. The game feels like HCTP, but still feels it’s lacking in roster and other elements. Some of the mini games only were in this game, they never end up coming back to the franchise. It’s not as bad as a WWE2k15 or 2k20, it’s a solid game.

I'd say sd vs rw 06 was overlooked. for me personally , they put all things that was lacking in the first one
