I always just get a log book in my name. I've done the post office thing and quite a few times hasn't gone through. So just apply for them as soon as I've the car in my possession. You would look daft if you have the new buyer at the post office and the v62 doesn't go through. So then potentially loose a sale.

Vehicles, I have bought sometimes if they are already taxed you can’t tax them which makes it harder and DVLA advise you don’t drive the vehicle until the logbook arrives.

I dont now much off the stuff about a Logbook and taxes , i live in The Netherlands and have no idea how things are working in the U.K. What i do now is that this car is looking amazing again and you did a great job picking up this care !! It will sell itself easy !

You are right about log book

When i purchase a salvage vehicle and repair it, i explain to the customer that there is no V5 as it takes a while too arrive and also just adds another owner to it, so i give them a filled out V62 with the vehicle details so they just have to add their details to it and tell them to take it to the post office, pay £25 for the V5 (DVLA will refund the £25 if CAT S ) and they can also tax it at the same time job done.

I always apply for logbook moment car is with me, find it difficult enough to sell cat S with the log book. That dosnt mean your way is wrong if it works for you thats fine.

I think your dads right, if a new buyer is unable to do it once youve sold it on ypu will get a bad name, new documents will give buyer more confidence and if you do them a report showing the quick change to pass on to next buyer nobody's worried about one extra owner.

With 48v hybrids take a note if the crash is higher force it can as srs module to open the contactors on the 48v battery. And I dont know how it is on fiat, but in volvo case it means you need to replace the battery. Not cheap

It's always good to have the logbook, just incase there's an issue later on with issuing the logbook

v62 option is better as its reducing owners but do get where you dad is coming from, might put people off if you don't have a logbook in your own name. But most people who are willing to buy a category car will understand the v62 system.

I’d go with supply all cars with log books… clearly having an extra owner is negligible as it shows you only owned it to sell on… I personally go off gut instinct when purchasing cars, owners, mileage, service history all have a bearing, however not the be all and end all… we have a little Pug 208gti that has been full dealer serviced, we have owned it a year and just carried out my own service… found that pollen filters were wrong orientation and clamp on air box pipe was left loose, missing mounting clips….and this is all main dealer service. Insurance will be higher because of been hybrid. Clio one we done fella was surprised it cost him a grand . Normally 300 a Yr for his insurance on his car . Was a kuga before .

I repair and sell cat n s’ , always get a new logbook as have tried without but puts people off, especially when paying bank transfer , they can see you are the registered keeper so makes them more confident Only my views 👍

Don't use Martin to tax your cars. Always use post office direct. I sell cars with v62 if there's no logbook available. If I'm keeping the car I'll apply for v5 in my name 👍 also always check office even if it says no logbook

Don’t add additional owners for no reason, it’ll only depreciate the cars quicker

V62 id rather not have another owner on it.

I think way ur doing 8s easier no hassle for new owner1 less on log book. But dad usualy right on most things dads are always right even when wrong ha ha.

Log books are now both paper or electronic - let the new owner sort the log book

id say no always get the log book dont worry about 3 owners not your issue you will get stung one day always get a log book and get 3 lots off ID off the buyer if they want it they will produce 3 lots off ID .trust me ive been stung .

If the car is 1 owner I would not apply for a log book, all other cars I would get a log book

i am like your dad i like to have log book but if its working for you and your buyers are happy the way you do it then that works for you if there is a problem it means you got to refund for car and take the hit for it keep up the good work its nice to see the younger generation coming along

Send off the logbook and just do an address change to your address and it’s free and no extra owners and you will have the full logbook ?
